CNN is anti-Trump 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So anti-Trump that it has had some of the most embarrassing false reports, including:
  • The false report that James Comey would testify that he never told Trump that Trump was under investigation.
  • Three CNN journalists had to resign after a false report about a supposed investigation of a Russian investment bank with ties to Trump advisor Anthony Scaramucci.
  • The false report about Trump's supposed fish-feeding during a visit with the Japanese Prime Minister
  • The claim that Don Jr. received advance notice from Wikileaks of the DNC hacked emails

We all know that CNN's Jim Acosta enjoys playing the role as an activist instead of a journalist, anything to bring attention to himself. He attempted to do just that on Wednesday, but fell flat on his face and made a fool of himself and his employer. President Donald Trump's policy advisor Stephen Miller attended the White House press briefing to explain the RAISE act, an immigration policy, that Trump endorsed Wednesday morning. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK) and Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) developed the plan and Trump explained that the "application process will favor applicants who can speak English, financially support themselves and their families and demonstrate skills that will contribute to our economy." Acosta tried to debate Miller on the English speaking part of the RAISE act and failed miserably.

CNN is upset Trump misled them about his plans to support a pathway to legalisation for DREAMers. Before his Joint Address Tuesday night, Trump met with reporters and talked about the need for "compromise" in the coming immigration legislation. CNN reported Tuesday:
President Donald Trump wants to pass an immigration reform bill that could grant legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants living in the US.

At the beginning of the primary season, the Huffington Post infamously consigned coverage of Donald Trump's campaign to its entertainment section. So it was striking that on today's Morning Joe, it was HuffPo's Sam Stein who chided his fellow liberals for refusing to acknowledge the obvious: that President Trump gave a good speech last night [see Stein's tweet, below.] Stein's take was echoed across the panel. Mark Halperin called it Trump's best speech ever, an assessment shared by Chris Cillizza. Joe Scarborough, who has been very tough on Stephen Miller, gave him high marks for writing such a good speech. Michael Steele heard echoes of Ronald Reagan. Bob Woodward suggested that Trump commanded the room in ways that even Reagan, Clinton and Obama had not.

If Morning Joe had a hook, they would have yanked presidential advisor Stephen Miller off the set of the Sunday shows he appeared on yesterday. Today's Morning Joe devoted a long segment to eviscerating his performance. The essence of the criticism was two-fold. First, that Miller spoke too much about his personal views rather than those of the president he serves. Second, that in declaring that the powers of the president to protect the country "will not be questioned" he was expressing an undemocratic view running counter to the principle of judicial review.

Day Deux of Joe Scarborough's tirade against the Trump admin's handling of the executive order on immigration. On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough condemned the admin's accusation that acting AG Sally Yates had "betrayed" the Justice Department by refusing to enforce the executive order. Scarborough repeatedly called the use of the word "frightening," suggesting it was worthy of an "autocrat" in a country like Venezuela. Scarborough then turned the tables, saying that Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, and Trump himself had "betrayed" Defense Secretary Mattis, DHS head John Kelly, and others by failing to provide them details of the order before it was made public. Scarborough expressed outrage that Stephen Miller and others in the administration apparently believed they could not trust those heroes with a secret.

President Trump is going to run into real trouble if he lets his White House staff pull end runs on the likes of General Mattis . . . Over the weekend, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were given extraordinary access to President Trump and his foreign policy team. On today's Morning Joe, they gave their takeaways from their interview of the president and a number of his senior advisors. Scarborough painted a picture of White House staffers in a battle with the senior foreign policy team. Scarborough singled out Stephen Miller, saying "you've got a very young person in the White House on a power trip thinking that you can just write executive orders and tell all of your cabinet agencies to go to hell."

Our completely unbiased media has awoken from hibernation. For the first time in a long time, they're preparing to hold the government accountable, particularly the White House. Jack Shafer of Politico sounds quite excited about this new era of hard hitting journalism:
