MN Supreme Court denies Petition for Review. Derek Chauvin did not get a fair trial. But it doesn't matter to the public or the Minnesota courts. Chauvin reportedly will seek U.S. Supreme Court review, but I doubt SCOTUS will take the case....

Key issues raised in oral argument were a juror who allegedly lied about attending a George Floyd protest, and the fortress courthouse atmosphere because of threats of rioting if there were a not guilty verdict....

The trial took place in a fortress courthouse with violence and threats of violence swirling around the entire proceeding. A fair trial free from threats is particularly important for defendants reviled by the public. That's were society is tested. Society failed the test here....

Sentenced to 245 months (20.4 years) plus 5 years supervised release, to run concurrently with state sentence of 22 years. So the pending state appeal asserting Chauvin was denied a fair trial will not matter. Chauvin will spend almost another 20 years in prison....
