Newsweek Proclaims Antifa Doesn’t Exist in Bizarre Ted Cruz ‘Fact Check’

“Labeling the [2020 Antifa/Black Lives Matter-led] protests as ‘Antifa riots’ is misleading too as there is no organization or group known as such.” – Newsweek

Earlier this week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) showed up on the set of ABC’s “The View” program for what predictably ended up being a wild segment complete with hecklers getting thrown out and the far-left co-hosts trying to gang up on Cruz, with Cruz responding by pointing out some inconvenient facts on such matters as Democrat election denialism and the 2020 Antifa/Black Lives Matter-led riots.

During one exchange when Cruz pointed out that leftists like failed 2018 Georgia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams and failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton were election deniers for repeatedly claiming that their respective elections were “stolen” and/or “rigged” against them, Goldberg remarked in so many words that at least Democrats weren’t violent when they lost.

Here’s how that back and forth went down:

CRUZ: Why don’t you tell that to Stacey Abrams who said the election was stolen? They sat here and said it was illegitimate.

GOLDBERG: yes! That’s right. And it was.

CRUZ: And you guys were fine with it. Okay, so it’s illegitimate when Republicans win, but not when Democrats —

GOLDBERG [interrupting]: No. Here’s the thing. We may not like when Republicans win, but we don’t go and we don’t storm. We don’t try to change the – We’ll go to court. We don’t do that.

CRUZ: Did I miss an entire year of Antifa riots where cities across this country were burning and police cars were being firebombed?

GOLDBERG: I don’t know what an Antifa riot is. I guess you did.

CRUZ: Your position is the left doesn’t engage in violence, really?

Watch:

One would think that Cruz’s point on the Antifa/BLM riots of 2020 would be irrefutable. I mean the evidence is overwhelming that Democrat-run cities burned for months after the officer-involved death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd, with rioters destroying entire city blocks in places like Minneapolis and Portland, leaving some communities devastated.

At one point, the Secret Service even had to take then-President Donald Trump to a secure bunker over concerns about Antifa/BLM rioters in Washington, D.C., who were torching everything in sight and jumping over barriers that had been erected by police.

But as we’ve documented numerous times before, so-called “fact checkers” never let actual facts get in the way of the left’s bogus narratives, which is exactly what happened with Newsweek, which “fact-checked” Cruz’s claim and found it false because full cities did not literally burn down, the riots didn’t take place over the course of a year, and because Antifa supposedly doesn’t exist:

The majority of the Floyd protests, however, took place between late May and early June 2020, whereas Cruz’s claim is that violence carried on across America for a year.

[…]

While many businesses were damaged or destroyed as a result of arson, Cruz’s characterization that “cities” burned for a year is significantly stretching the truth, even if taken figuratively.

The senator’s labeling of the events as antifa riots is misleading too. Notwithstanding that antifa is not a formalized group or association, Black Lives Matter was largely recognized as having galvanized protestors across the world following Floyd’s death.

Originally, Newsweek made the following declaration about the existence of Antifa before updating what they wrote:

Labeling the protests as “Antifa riots” is misleading too as there is no organization or group known as such.

Christopher Rufo, who has helped lead the fight against the implementation of Critical Race Theory and other “woke” indoctrination ideas pushed by Democrats into the public school system, responded accordingly:

Oddly enough, at one time, Newsweek apparently believed Antifa was a real thing:

Even more alarmingly, House Democratic leaders like Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler have in the past falsely claimed Antifa is “imaginary,” a “myth”:

Unfortunately for the Democrat apologists in the MSM and Democrats like Nadler, the facts don’t care about their feelings.

I’m sure it never existed under its other names either. liker OWS, BLM, Black Panthers, or a hundred others.

Pantifa doesn’t exist? Ask the insurance companies that had to cover the billions in damage they created. That and the Marxist con, BLM.

Why does a myth have a flag, or a symbol (an “A” in a hole; do with that as you will)? Why do they have a uniform of sorts.

Whether Whoopi believes in pantifa or not, she cannot deny that all of the Burning, Looting and Murder was anything but leftist based, and outclassed that altercation at the Capitol by orders of violent magnitude.

Yet no Congressional investigation…..Hmm, wonder why? Must be because it is a myth, right?

I’d bet dollars to donuts that she does deny exactly that.

Remember all the MSM claims that the only violence was caused by right-wing false flag operations?

Newsweek still exists?

As bogus as this is, it will work. I will be hearing this from every Dem voter I know, forever.

Newsweak stands for Democrats, uh, democracy, too.

I guess the 2020 riots never happened either, according to the media

“This year’s 4th of July partiers will save 14 cents each.”

Lying Newsweek

The first rule of Antifa is to deny Antifa exists.

GOLDBERG [interrupting]: No. Here’s the thing. We may not like when Republicans win, but we don’t go and we don’t storm.

January 20, 2017.

I guess there’s no QAnon, either.

This sort of mandatory suspension of reality where the d/prog insist what we see isn’t happening is why they are so upset about Musk buying Twitter. He has proclaimed he will return Twitter to more neutral stance. Losing the ability to minimize the reach of dissenting voices or eliminate them entirely up ends the d/prog playbook.

For instance, company X takes a dissenting stance from the d/prog orthodoxy or merely refuse to take any stance about a issue pushed by the d/prog. The call to boycott and vilify go out. The weirdos dive in onto Twitter attacking the company. In recent times no dissenting voices allowed to refute the d/prog position or even whether that company should stick to making widgets v some bizarre ‘obligation’ to weigh in to a policy issue that has jack squat to do with their company.

Now the weirdos on Twitter can’t expect to debate an empty chair. Opposing voices can be heard. Opinions expressed and evidence offered to refute the weirdos. It’s the same reason these sorts hated Rush Limbaugh and continue to castigate Fox, which is not exactly a rabidly populist right organ.

The weirdos don’t want to debate the underlying premise. They only allow debate as to how much money we should spend and how much blame exists. Any debate about whether the thing they claim as a problem actually exists or whether their proposed solution will be effective is not allowed.

1) Democrats tried to get electors to change their votes in 2016
2) Democrats objected to electors January 6 2017
3) Leftists rioted immediately after the 2016 election ( I recall several car dealerships in Portland being vandalized and burned)
4) Democrats used a phony dossier to start an investigation into President Trump
5) Leftists rioted on Inauguration Day 2017 doing a great deal of damage including setting fire to at least one vehicle.
6) Antifa/BLM riots occurred almost every day during the summer of 2020. In Portland alone there were riots declared for 100 straight days that included multiple attempts to burn down a federal courthouse

Newsweek completely ignored the Portland Federal attacks by Antifa in their “fact check”.

A lie of omission is the opposite of a fact check.

“Newsweek proclaims ANTIFA doesn’t exist”

That’s because journalism doesn’t exist.

Steven Brizel | October 28, 2022 at 1:22 pm

Newsweek was once like most of the legacy media,, a respectable middle brow magazine

So Newsweek would agree that there is no Q Anon???

No Antifa, but the place is swarming with White Supremacist Terrorists right?

Drop the “news” from your name as you people are just Weak.

“‘Antifa riots’ is misleading too as there is no organization or group known as such.” – Newsweek”

They have a website, you fucking idiots.

No one will ever accuse these lying jackasses of committing journalism.

Newsweek is spelled “P-R-A-V-D-A,” apparently. Interestingly, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, Mother Jones, New York magazine, Rolling Stone, the Nation and a host of other Leftist publications are spelled the same way.

There were rioters breaking windows at a Starbucks in DC during the Trump inauguration! There were numerous “racist attacks” blamed on “Trump and his racist rhetoric” that later proved to be staged by leftists! Very few of them were ever mentioned again once the truth came to light. But those one or two fringe Rebublican voters who acted out made the national news.. and still get fingers pointed at them as examples of “violent right-wing extremists” are!

In a recent Portland mayoral election, one of the candidates boasted, “I am Antifa!.” Then she went on to praise Antifa and its goals. That’s a pretty strong endorsement for a non-existent organization.

It even looked for a while like she might win the election.

When Time went leftist I switched to Newsweek. When Newsweek went leftist I switched to LegalInsurrection.

To be fair, Newsweek has had a couple of good writers recently. Check out Josh Hammer and Pedro L. Gonzalez.

This “fact check” is checking facts only in the sense that a goalie “checks” a hockey puck.

She know who Antifa is
