Ever since the Los Angeles Times published a toxic article connecting Recall Newsom petition signers to white supremacists and anti-vaxxers, I have been an ardent advocate for the effort to force a vote of the California governor. The last time I checked, the number of petition signers was 1.4 million. Recent reports indicate that the activists have gathered the required 1.5 million signatures necessary to get a recall vote on the ballot.

At the end of January, Legal Insurrection reported that ultra-progressive Los Angeles County District Attorney Gascon’s “reforms” were putting the region's criminal justice system in "free fall." For example, Gascón forced his prosecutors to read statements in court impugning the state's "three strikes" law and ending specific penalties.

Since my last report on the nonpartisan 'Recall Newsom' petition effort, signature gatherers have collected 100,000 more names for a total of 1.4 million and are rapidly closing in on the 1.5 million signature level needed to get the recall on the ballot.

Yes, you read the headline correctly. The city of San Francisco is suing its own school district for not having a "meaningful plan for how or when in-person" teaching will begin. Teachers and students have not been in the classroom since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Also, I think this is the fourth #headdesk story I've written related to San Francisco schools.

As I noted in my previous posts on the recall efforts for California Gov. Gavin Newsom, there has been a steady increase in the number of petition signers in the wake of the French Laundry pandemic-rule-violation incident and continuing state lockdown measures.

Bruce Davis was a member of the Manson Family cult who participated in the torture and murder of Gary Hinman in 1969. Davis has now been recommended for parole, and the move has the support of new Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón. Like many progressive DAs across the country who won with the financial backing of left-wing billionaire George Soros, Gascón operates more like a high priced defense attorney than a prosecutor.
