Nancy Pelosi's fragile majority in the House of Representatives just keeps getting smaller as we approach the 2022 midterms. As of last week, 26 Democrats had announced their retirements ahead of the 2022 midterms. Now there are 28.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said during a recent interview that if Republicans take back the House of Representatives in November, that certain Democrats will be stripped of their committee assignments. He pointed specifically to Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, who serve on the House Intelligence Committee and Ilhan Omar, who serves on Foreign Affairs.

Last week, we noted that Democrat lawyer Marc Elias has threatened to use January 6th to disqualify Republicans from running in 2022. As if by magic, a group is doing that to North Carolina Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn. The challenge was filed by 11 people, but has the backing of a national organization dedicated to campaign finance reform.

The 2022 midterms are still almost a year away, but there are already some bad signs for Democrats. The state of Nevada seems to be trending red and Florida, which was already trending Republican is just getting redder. Democrats have always enjoyed an eadvantage with Latino voters, but that may be changing. According to recent polling, Latinos are souring on Biden and Dems just like everyone else. This could have a significant effect on the next two major elections in 2022 and 2024.
