Dr. William F. Tate IV, who becomes the first Black university president in the SEC, was not included in the initial list of eight semifinalists published by the special committee appointed to interview candidates for the position.

Anonymous faculty member opposing proposed Critical Race Theory mandates: "I no longer teach topics that I taught only a couple of years ago, and which I taught without anyone complaining that I was being offensive.... Is that the type of University we are to become, where people are afraid to exchange ideas? ... I now seek intellectual engagement outside the University...."

Introducing her proposed legislation: "Leave those children alone. Stop subjecting them to neo-racism and race shaming. It's destructive.... We would never accept race shaming if it was directed towards black school children. We should not accept it when it's directed at white school children. And that is what is happening in our schools."
