I am an Environmental Health and Safety Professional, as well as a science/technical writer for a variety of news and professional publications. I have been a citizen activist since 2009, and am one of the co-founders of the San Diego-based group, Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition.

We have been chronicling how South Korea has been teaming up with North Korea on a number if different projects in an apparent effort geared toward eventually opening up the rogue nation in a way that will not be a severe economic strain on its southern neighbor. Though the Hanoi Summit did not conclude with a declaration, South Korea's President Moon Jae-in promises he will work toward having the other two countries complete the peace deal.

Given the Democratic-staged drama of the Cohen hearings, one would be forgiven for not recognizing another historic summit occurred yesterday between President Donald Trump and North Korea's Dictator Kim Jong Un. Perhaps the American press will turn its attention to Hanoi today, as President Donald Trump cut short the summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un after denuclearization talks went nowhere.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the two leaders "had very good and constructive meetings" and "discussed various ways to advance denuclearization and economic driven concepts," but that "no agreement was reached at this time."

Back in 2017, government officials were considering the creation of a "Red Team" to encourage debate about the scientific interpretations of studies related to the climate. Now, the White House appears to be going forward with plans to create a team of select federal scientists to review and potentially re-evaluate recent government assertions related to climate science, according to three administration officials.

A statue honoring Christopher Columbus was vandalized this weekend in the San Diego area's Chula Vista.
According to police, officers were called to Discovery Park around noon after neighbors reported that someone poured red paint over the statue. When officers arrived they also found the words “genocide” and “FU” spray painted onto the figure. A brass plaque that used to be attached to the statue was also missing.

Public health officials are reporting that Southern California is seeing a a spike in the number of cases of a wind-borne disease that inflames blood vessels and can cause heart failure.
Since the start of the year, 16 kids have been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency. Researchers at the UC San Diego School of Medicine told the agency that twice as many children have been diagnosed compared with previous years.

Last fall, I reported that Pope Francis held an emergency summit with U.S. bishops over the growing sex abuse crisis and cover-up scandal that has impacted the Roman Catholic Church after revelations by a Pennsylvania grand jury and the details offered in a letter published by Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, who served a a Vatican diplomat in Washington DC from 2011 to 2016.

It appears that the US Air Force has been tasked to help launch the Space Force proposed by President Donald Trump.
Detailed planning for the proposed Space Force is expected to be handed over soon to the U.S. Air Force, a sign that Pentagon leaders — many of whom opposed the notion of consolidating military space operations in a new organization — have found a version that they can support.

California Gavin Newsom ended the debacle of the high-speed train between Los Angeles and San Francisco. However, the millions of dollars in savings will not be going back to California's taxpayers. Instead, the governor plans to spend millions of dollars on making the illegal immigrants storming our borders more comfortable when they arrive.

The Houston Health Department confirmed seven mumps cases at the city's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.
Officials said that all seven people were adults who were detained during the time they became sick. "Since these individuals were isolated inside the facility during the period they were infectious, we do not anticipate these cases posing a threat to the community," said Dr. David Persse, Houston's local health authority and EMS medical director."

From time to time, I have covered the history of asteroid impacts on Earth that result in real global climate change and verifiable world-wide extinctions. In a heart-warming development that shows that many scientists recognize a real risk to the Earth, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is now developing space technology to prevent humans from following in the footsteps of the dinosaurs into impact oblivion.
