Vanity Fair: DeSantis is Worse Than Trump™

Vanity Fair: DeSantis is Worse Than Trump™

Are they really afraid of DeSantis, or is this some sort of 3D chess, getting people to think they are afraid of DeSantis, but they really are afraid of Trump, so they figure that if they portray DeSantis as Worse Than Trump™ that will make DeSantis more appealable to Republican primary voters who otherwise might support Trump?

This is getting comical. We already have numerous posts about how Democrat-run media is portraying Ron DeSantis as Worse Than Trump. Perhaps we need to start putting a trademark symbol after the phrase:

DeSantis is Worse Than Trump ™

We also probably need a tag, but we don’t have one yet, so here are some of our prior posts on topic:

Add this childish yet highly promoted Vanity Fair article, A Comprehensive Guide to Why a Ron DeSantis Presidency Would Be as Terrifying as a Trump One

The subheadline is: “His bigoted policies and authoritarian behavior make him just as bad a pick for the top job in Washington.” It’s not even worth quoting, you know, bigot, fascist, “don’t say gay,” blah, blah, blah.

Okay, because you demand it, I’ll quote some of it:

But wait, you say: Wouldn’t DeSantis be a hell of a lot more preferable to send to the White House than Donald Trump? Shouldn’t we be happy about the fact that, at the very least, he doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would Sharpie over a hurricane map to cover his own ass or force people to think about what he gets up to in the bathroom? And the answer is no! We shouldn’t be!

After cartoonish talking points about how dangerous DeSantis is, the author concludes:

According to people who know him, he’s an awful person and has been for many years

A former college teammate, who simultaneously praised DeSantis’s intelligence, described him thusly to The New Yorker: “Ron is the most selfish person I have ever interacted with. He has always loved embarrassing and humiliating people. I’m speaking for others—he was the biggest dick we knew.” We’ll repeat that for emphasis: “He has always loved embarrassing and humiliating people.” Great qualities to have in an elected official!

It’s being promoted by Vanity Fair editor Michael Calderone, who is getting brutally ratioed:

The response are great, mostly boiling down to “We’ve seen this movie before”:

So are they really afraid of DeSantis:

Or is this some sort of 3D chess, getting people to think they are afraid of DeSantis, but they really are afraid of Trump, so they figure that if they portray DeSantis as Worse Than Trump™ that will make DeSantis more appealable to Republican primary voters who otherwise might support Trump?

I think it’s a lot simpler: they’re preparing to libel whoever is the GOP candidate.

That is certainly part of it, no matter who the candidate may be the media will do everything it can to paint him or her in the worst possible light.

    maxmillion in reply to TheFineReport.com. | January 2, 2023 at 9:17 pm

Simply challenge them or anyone else in their media to name one, just one, Republican president or presidential nominee that they ever liked, endorsed, or supported in their lives.

guyjones in reply to maxmillion. | January 3, 2023 at 8:06 am

GOP candidates and officeholders receive plaudits and a pat on the head from the water-carrying, Dumb-o-crat media lapdogs only after they’ve condemned President Trump or opposed his agenda, in some fashion. We saw this with the praise lavished upon McCain, Romney, Bush II and others — all individuals who were viciously vilified by the media while they were running for President, or, in office as President.

The Gentle Grizzly | January 2, 2023 at 8:54 pm

I really value the opinion of a fashion and trend magazine.

smalltownoklahoman | January 2, 2023 at 9:14 pm

Desantis is smart, won’t back down to their bullying, can and has fought back effectively (the whole Disney thing for example), and well…… will far more likely make some better cabinet and personal picks than Trump. There’s good reason to support him should he run and win the nomination.

That’s one area Trump failed at: his picking DC insiders. But in his defense, NONE OF US knew the depth of corruption of the GOPe and the willingness of Jeff Sessions and William Barr and Mark Miley to be treasonous.

I’d like to think DeSantis wouldn’t make that mistake, because he has a strongly developed and trusted staff as a governor. I’d also like to think Trump wouldn’t make that mistake again, but wonder where he’d get his cabinet from.

Colonel Travis in reply to TheFineReport.com. | January 2, 2023 at 9:21 pm

You realize that if it’s as bad as you say it is, Trump cannot fix a damn thing?

MattMusson in reply to Colonel Travis. | January 3, 2023 at 8:34 am

Trump can kneecap the administrative state by removing the top 3 to 5 thousand. And, he can push to dismember the FBI and send the parts away from Washington DC.

It’s not that bad, it’s worse. I don’t know how this plays out but we are losing ground everyday at top speed

Ironclaw in reply to Colonel Travis. | January 3, 2023 at 1:55 pm

Not just Trump, NOBODY can fix it. The powers that be don’t want it fixed and anybody that tries will be destroyed and pursued until they’re in the grave.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to TheFineReport.com. | January 2, 2023 at 10:51 pm

Maybe Trump should draw from business people? Getting rid of deep state is going to be a slash and burn like Musk had to do with Twitter. I was involved in acquisition, and resulting downsizing, At lease in those cases there was reason to have sympathy, in Twitters case those entitlled sobs deserved it. There is a staggering amount of bloat in government, and even worsearrogant deep state who are opperating a shadow government. They have to go. Desantis does not have the chops to do that job.

        gonzotx in reply to JohnSmith100. | January 3, 2023 at 8:52 am

He did, they were some of his best choices

        DaveGinOly in reply to JohnSmith100. | January 4, 2023 at 1:46 pm

If anyone has the incentive to slash and burn, it’s Trump. And he’s vain, petty, and vindictive. Normally, these qualities would count against a candidate, but in this situation he’s just the person we need to demolish the bureaucracy and knock the Deep State back on its heels.

      “..NONE OF US KNEW…”

I had a Clinton appointee laugh in my face during the Lewinski “scandal” for even mentioning the concept of integrity.

      TheOldZombie in reply to TheFineReport.com. | January 2, 2023 at 11:14 pm

Also I think everyone whose thinking of running for POTUS now knows just how bad things are because Trump really exposed the corruption of the GOP.

If DeSantis were to win he now knows just how bad the GOP in DC are. He won’t have any excuses.

      Follow DeSantis money and buddy’s

Let’s all play! What Republican will be worse than Chimpy McBushHitler HaliburtTrumpist in 2024?

Trump expected the government to generally operate like a very large business enterprise. That’s why he was so easily blind-sided by even his own staff. DeSantis has a better sense of how government actually works than Trump ever did. Trump was learning, but it was too little too late.

Every (R) is going to poison the water, murder old people, blow up the planet, rape the universe. Wonder when someone will finally punch Chicken Little in the mouth? My guess is never.

Sketching out some ideas…
#WorseThanTrump

I’ll go with #WTTrump

Hell, you don’t have to go to Vanity Fair or anywhere else in the LSM to get the “DeSantis is worse than Trump” meme. You can find it here pretty much every day.

Good news. Jeb Bush has formed an expoloratory committee.

“Choose. Choose the form of your destructor!”, Gozer

“I couldn’t help it. It just popped in there”, Vanity Fair

Yeah- 3D chess.

Seems like they want MAGAs to get behind DeSantis. By default – I love whatever they hate the most. It’s like going to a steak house with a militant vegan. – More filet mignon for me.

Vanity Fair: the clowns who just ran an article subtitled, “Even with the help of powerful 21st-century linguistic databases, the phrase “keep and bear arms” remains debatable.”

I will tell you why the liberal press is terrified of Gov DeSantis. My liberal daughter and son in law expressed the desire to vote for DeSantis. Think about that. Seattle liberals voting R. They like his anti-woke policies. The Disney fight, the policies to keep groomers out of schools, the way he handled Ian. They made the point of enrolling my grandson in a Catholic school. They are not Catholic. Why? Because he is a boy and doesn’t need to hear how he can be a girl. And my granddaughter will be right there too. Parents are tired of the trans crap being pushed in public education. If the R’s want to steamroll the 2024 cycle, just speak to parents about cleaning up the school systems. Local, State and Federal.

I heard the same argument–and believed in it wholeheartedly–before the midterms. I thought every Dem not in a pure blue district would lose due the rebellion against the wokesters, the racists, the leftists and the socialists. It didn’t work out that way. The left has captured much of the population, including the institutions with power. The majority of the population believes the left’s lies.

Dimsdale in reply to Stuytown. | January 3, 2023 at 10:13 am

It won’t hurt that we have recovered Twitter, thanks to Elon Musk.

Free speech is a wonderful cleanser. That is why, like verified voting, the Democrat socialists are against it.

When their survival depends on it, it’s doubly so. That’s why the communists love social programs, they make it so much easier to get the population dependent. No junkie will ever vote against his crack dealer.

RepublicanRJL | January 3, 2023 at 6:53 am

Here’s to betting Dems will commission a subcommittee to investigate DeSantis’ ties to the CCP, a diaper fetish tape, lunch with Dominion’s top brass during the 2022 election, a postcard from Ruby Freeman and of course, a woman will come out of her shiny new Cadillac MKZ claiming he raped her.

But, Biden’s manifestly racist “You ain’t black” admonition — so perfectly emblematic of the Dumb-o-crats’ paternalistic attitude towards black Americans — plus myriad other examples of his racist behavior over the course of his fifty-year-plus tenure as a career apparatchik — can’t be condemned by these same media shills/lapdogs/trained seals. Such contemptible hypocrisy.

Steven Brizel | January 3, 2023 at 8:17 am

The woke left despises De Santis because he espouses conservative policies is a great governor and knows how to handle the press without Trump’s personal baggage

Let me try this again , these are weak hits, very weak and they are just setting the table for people to fall for DeSantis, and dang, they are doing a great job, just look at all of your comments
You don’t care who’s backing him, why? His handlers have done an incredible job, it’s almost like the parting of the sea.

His “old” staff got”moved around and the “new and improved staff” came on board right before the Mara Lago FBI assault, and low and behold , 5 days after that BS DeSantis pokes his head out of the basement, after 5 days of silence , to make a very weak comment on his personal, not Gov Twitter account to say some pansy comment about it.

That’s when the money started rolling in after the seas parted and low and behold Paul Ryan, Jeb Bush, Griffin and all kind of other slimes came out and said what a wonderful man DeSantis is and what a wonderful leader for President

All it took was 30 pieces of silver……

And yes, he’s done some great things and may have done some of them regardless, but make no mistake he shoved a knife in his mentor for that money and he will end up the same way as Judas….

    1. I am going to call all of that spam and lies and yes with the implication. Nothing you have stated there is true.

    2. If you think you could claim someone is worst than Trump from the left or center without it being an extremely big hit piece congratulations on needing to repeat elementary school

    3. Again HOW BLEEPING DARE YOU ATTACK BILLIONAIRES WHO ARE FIGHTING CRT WITH THEIR WALLETS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

The billionaires your slandering in order to slander Ron DeSantis are on our side fighting the culture war and have been very open about their motives and their money.

For people who don’t understand Gonzo has been slandering Ron DeSantis as a sellout based on support from this man https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-gop-megadonor-indicates-war-on-woke-ideology-in-schools-backs-desantis-for-president

I have been very anti-elite, and pro-populist policies. I am also anti-Bolshevik, and against condemning rich people for being rich.

You on the other hand seem to want a Bolshevik revolution and yes if rich=bad no matter what the rich person does you are a Bolshevik.

How dare you. The left isn’t that bad concerning rich people they have a standard of rich and on our side good rich and the other side evil.

By the way Trump had plenty of billionaire backers which proves beyond a doubt your Bolshevism isn’t even real you are just applying it hypocritically to good people you don’t actually believe it if you did Trump would not be eligible for your support.

Finally the idea that Ron DeSantis has any influence over the FBI, that the FBI in any way answers to him; or that he is informed of anything the FBI does

If you believe that you really and truly belong in a psych ward, that is no different than the theories you could get from one of any number of homeless people.

Once again, making my point. You and Vanity Fair. Imagine that.

healthguyfsu in reply to gonzotx. | January 4, 2023 at 1:17 pm

I’m sure Vanity Fair measures it’s success at deception by what people in this comment block think.

““Ron is the most selfish person I have ever interacted with. He has always loved embarrassing and humiliating people. I’m speaking for others—he was the biggest dick we knew.”
————

These slanderous accusations are supposed to stand in sharp contrast to dotard-marionette, Biden, a manifestly obnoxious, ornery and intemperate fool who evinces hostility towards, and, who slings insults at voters and reporters who pose legitimate, non-fawning questions to him.

This is dishonest and childish farce, the notion that Dumb-o-crat apparatchiks are all nice, kind and morally upright, and, all GOP/conservative pols are evil.

Reminds one of ‘The Manchurian Candidate’

“Why don’t you pass the time playing a little solitaire?”

“Raymond Shaw is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.”

Trump or DeSantis… it doesn’t matter. Mail-in ballots with unverified signatures harvested in PA, MI, AZ and GA will overwhelmingly favor whoever the Democrats nominate in 2024.

Dimsdale in reply to George S. | January 3, 2023 at 10:21 am

One wonders if a federal requirement for positive ID would work.

Not that Biden and the socialist Senate would go for it.

guyjones in reply to George S. | January 3, 2023 at 11:46 am

This is my overarching concern, in the grand scheme of things. When you combine the totality of Deep State/FBI sabotage/subversion machinations with Silicon Valley’s gleeful and willing assistance/connivance, plus, the mainstream media lapdogs’/trained seals’/lackeys’ perennial hostility towards GOP candidates and officeholders, and, promotion of/water-carrying on behalf of Dumb-o-crat candidates/officeholders and their Narrative (TM), plus, the usual vote tabulation shenanigans/mischief that the Dumb-o-crats brazenly engage in, with impunity and without punishment, it seems impossible that any GOP candidate for president can win, in the current landscape.

Of course Vanity Fair thinks DeSantis is worst than Trump if DeSantis runs he could win; if Trump runs we get another 4 years of Biden.

Capitalist-Dad | January 3, 2023 at 10:43 am

Are we sick of the tired “[Insert Republican name here] is Hitler” propaganda ploy—especially when it is made by the Democrat Party that checks ALL the boxes on the fascist/totalitarian Things To Do List? Sadly, the Republican Party will remain fractured as long as Trump cultists fail to realize that ANY non-RINO Republican should be supported over ANY Democrat (and over the childish response of not voting for a candidate perceived as “imperfect” —which is equivalent to a Democrat vote). Democrats put morons in office to hold power (Prez Dimwit, the PA troll). Constitutionalists have plenty of competent candidates once they realize it’s not Trump the man, but rather the fight-back attitude he displayed that is the key to not getting rolled by statists (D, R, or otherwise).

DeSantis is is far better than Trump, which is why I want him to stay Governor of Florida until he term-limits out!

Why would you waste time trying to figure out the motivations of Vanity Fair writers concerning politics….these people are clearly insane.

Conservative read:

DeSanris is better than Trump because he will be more effective.

“DeSantis is worse than Trump”

I hope so.
