Report: Over a Dozen Swing State House Dems Fear Bernie or Warren Nomination, Rally Behind Biden

Apparently it’s not just Democrat operatives and insiders who are sounding the alarm over a potential nomination of socialist Bernie Sanders (I-VT) or Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
Both are so far out of the mainstream, even among Democrats, that over a dozen House Democrats in swing states are reportedly rallying behind former vice president Joe Biden (D-DE).
A slate of endangered House Democrats is coalescing behind Joe Biden for president as the Iowa caucuses approach — a surge of support triggered by fears that Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren at the top of the ticket would cost them their seats.
More than a dozen swing-seat freshmen have taken part in at least one private call session with Biden, Amy Klobuchar or Pete Buttigieg in recent weeks. A handful have already gravitated toward the former vice president, and more are expected to follow before Democrats start voting on Feb. 3, according to interviews with 15 lawmakers, aides and campaign strategists.
Others are still hearing out Klobuchar — who held her own call with a dozen members on Monday night — and Buttigieg. Both candidates are pitching themselves as middle-of-the-road Democrats who can stem the leftward surge of the party.
“I’m looking at all the moderates in the race,” said Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D-N.Y.), who holds a GOP-leaning district in upstate New York. “If we’re going to campaign on issues like Medicare for All and free college for everybody, we’re not going to have a winning message in 2020.”
These House Democrats are concerned that if the party nominates a candidate with a lunatic socialist agenda—like that of Bernie and Warren—the result will be “down-ballot carnage all across the country.”
“The wrong person at the top of the ticket — and I’m not saying who that is — there would be down-ballot carnage all across the country, and I think that people are starting to recognize it,” said Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.), a national co-chair of the Biden campaign.
Unlike in 2016, when most Democrats rallied around Hillary Clinton, most have so far stayed on the sidelines of the party’s primary fight, anxious of drawing battle lines that could further divide their district or attract a primary challenge from the left.
But an increasing number of centrists are quietly engaging with campaigns, particularly Biden, through conference calls and staff-to-staff contact, in the run-up to Iowa’s caucuses.
If Democrats don’t want Bernie or Warren, it’s not difficult to figure out how the rest of the country—i.e. the general electorate—feels about them. These House Dems are right to sound the alarm.

The DNC is going to push the guy who *did* what they accused Trump of doing, and impeached him for.
The key is that *every* Dem that’s running for President will mindlessly sign whatever huge spending or regulating bill the Dems get pushed through the Legislative branch. Every single bill. No exceptions. NO spending limits at all, and in fact, they will push spending bills to ‘make up’ for what they will claim as draconic cuts in previous years.
(FYI: This will be their approach on Iran too. “Gee, we’re sorry for sanctions. We’re making them go away and writing you a check for what we determined is your country’s losses. Please don’t kill us.”)
They are looking for a “middle-of-the-road” alternative? There is none. If the Dems really want to purge the commies out of the party, let 2020 play out. Let Bernie or Fauxcahontas win the nomination.
The fastest way to cure the party of what ails them is to let them stage their spectacularly catastrophic 202 wipe out. Simply cheating them again of the nomination doesn’t get rid of them.
If the purge doesn’t kill the party, the survivors will at least have a solid “Americans will NOT vote for communists!” story from which to rebuild. Trump or communism. Let’s put it on the ballot and have done with it.

Warren is very much a socialist as Bernie but the fact remains that he will be 79 years old before the next election.
O’Biden will be 78 in November.
Neither of them have ANY experience in leadership and both have spent their entire lives depending on government for just about anything that has advanced their needs in life.
In my estimate, there is not one viable democrat or socialist candidate. Amy not only has no charisma, she has negative charisma that only Minnesota could sustain.
It would be fun to watch Hillary give it another go. God only knows what she has on underneath some of those ungodly looking outfits she has worn, in public, but those tents could hide scaffolding, braces, catheter bags and a portable air compressor.
Nonetheless, Hillary is utterly unaccomplished and is saddled with a known sex offender for a “husband” and an addle minded daughter who makes Princess Caroline Kennedy almost seem like an intellectual.
This coming election is Trump’s to take, thanks to Pelosi and the idiots who make her possible.

Leaving the party for the establishment members means quitting your job.
So, all those at party headquarters are not going to throw-in.
For the establishment members, leaving the Party doesn’t mean quitting your job, it means having to get a real one.
I’d say they should learn to code, but they’ve seen to it that immigrants from India already have all of those jobs.
I’ve been writing slotkin – my rep – emails calling her a political hack at least once a week. I call out her lies like the War Powers Act she sponsored. She and some of her colleagues give us their “I worked for the cia and have given my vote on impeachment deep thought” crap.
Down ballot carnage wouldn’t be enough. I’d like to see a total sweep and the repubs that support PDJT get 300 seats.

I know trump haters who would vote for Bloomberg, but then, he would lose the progs.
I think most things favor Trump by a wide margin. If Afghanistan and Iran don’t blow up, it’s a landslide.

I don’t know what Finland’s current work-week is like, so I will use American standards to calculate the loss of work hours Marin’s plan would impose. We typically work 8 hours a day for 5 days per week, or 40 hours per week. Subtract 8 hours for Marin’s 4-day week and, at 2 hours lost per day, another 8 hours for the four 6-hour workdays. That’s a reduction in work hours of 16 hours per week yielding a 24-hour week, nearly 20% less than the traditional 40-hour week. Can employees produce as much work in their new 24-hour week as they did in a 40-hour week? If not, employers should be able to cut pay by a corresponding nearly 20% — and use the savings to hire additional short-week workers to achieve a total work time that will produce the same volume of work that fewer employers working 40 hours could do. I expect Marin would want employers to keep pay at the same rate even though they are getting far fewer hours of work in exchange.
A great many Americans were angry when Obamacare required that full-time employment be set at a minimum of 30 hours per week — many people had their hours cut to less than 30 hours and struggled to find second and third jobs to make up the difference in pay. Some lost their jobs entirely. Sure, they had lots more time to spend with their families, but they had far less money to support those families. Americans would rather have kept the longer work week and corresponding better pay. Will Finnish workers respond differently to government edicts and welcome a cut in hours along with a cut in pay? Probably not, which is why I think the clueless Marin will want to make employers pay full-time salaries for what would now be part-time employees.
Hadn’t given much thought to it, but the presidential election is like a giant cross the dem house and senate candidates will have to carry with them in the swing states. yeah- it’s gonna be ugly.
