Release of concealed 2005 Obama-Farrakhan photo shows first post at Legal Insurrection was prescient
Obama was Door No. 2: Alan Dershowitz now says he never would have campaigned for Obama had he known.
A reporter withheld a 2005 photo of Senator Barack Obama smiling next to Louis Farrakhan at a Congressional Black Caucus gathering until a few days ago.
The reporter said he didn’t want to hurt Obama’s political career, as we reported in Journalist Releases Photo of Obama With Farrakhan Hidden From Public Since 2005.
The photographer was interviewed on Tucker, and made it clear he was pressured to conceal the photo:
Why would hobnobbing with Farrakhan have been damaging? It’s not for people like Linda Sarsour and other fringe players.
But for a presidential candidate, there would be no denying that Farrakhan was a well-known anti-American anti-Semite and anti-White racist, and had been known as such for decades.

The very first post at Legal Insurrection was on October 12, 2008, Obama is “Door No. 2” in which I suggested the public Obama may not be the real Obama (emphasis added):
As in Let’s Make a Deal, choosing Door No. 2 carries great risks. So does choosing Obama.
Obama may be a post-racial healer, or he may be someone who carefully uses race and false accusations of racism to advance his political career. Obama may not have known about Jeremiah Wright’s political race-baiting, or he may have known but not cared. Obama may be someone who views this country as inherently good, or he may secretly share the views of his political enabler, William Ayers, that this country is inherently bad. We may know Obama better than Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers know Obama, or we may not know Obama at all.
Obama may be everything good, or the promise Obama embodies may just be a figment of our own imagination.
Obama is the perfect vehicle for imagining hope, because he has almost no record. Obama is a blank canvas upon which we can paint our imagined hope. Obama has avoided almost every hard issue that has confronted him in his political career, choosing to vote “present” (literally or figuratively) hundreds of times.
Just about the only thing we know about Obama is what he has told us about himself. To inquire deeper invites accusations that one is a “smear merchant” and using “racially tinged subtexts.”
… I will not gamble on the presidency. I will not choose Door No. 2 by voting for Obama.

We didn’t need the Farrakhan photo to know not to vote for Obama.
But it would have helped fill in at least one part of what was behind Door No. 2 for many other people.

I generally respect Dershowitz, though disagree with him a lot. He is a model along Moynihan – articulate, intelligent, and persuasive – unlike the current debate today. His wilfull ignorance in Obama is disappointing and telling.
The picture does nothing other than further validate my thoughts of the former President.
Agreed – how could a man who is supposed to be as smart as Dershowitz possibly have been fooled as to who and what Obama truly was? Obvious answer, he wasn’t fooled, he knew all the time.
The only reason he’s saying this now is that this photo embarrasses him, by showing that what the rest of us always said was the truth, and Dershowitz and men like this knowingly covered that up because they thought it would suit their own interests to do so.
I imagine now that had the photo been released, we would have seen HilLiary defeat the non-powerhouse McCain.
At a time like this, I wish I had no imagination.
I wonder how many other photographs were suppressed by “journalists” to benefit Obama?

Why would anyone ever even questioned whether Obama was a contemporary of Farrakhan? It seemed, to me, a forgone conclusion.
For all of his life, so far, Obama has yet to be other than appealing to street people. A community organizer? Sheesh, who has created greater polarization and racial animosity in the past 50 years?
Obama’s legacy is that he reversed civil rights, integration and incited racial antagonism.

Hej, I was born and raised in NYC. What was that commercial for a financial company that had the saying When XYZ speaks everybody listens? Sure if Alan Dershowitz is quoted or speaks my interest is peaked. I am not someone for hero worship. Politics makes strange bedfellows. Too many people jumped on the Obama bandwagon. It still pisses me off that the GOPe gave Obama a second term. Alan Dershowitz is probably regretting some of his decisions. Given the same situation…I do not believe Alan Dershowitz would not do exactly like he did again.

Too bad, although it would not make much difference, Chairman O had the left and most of the middle wound around his little finger. For a very intelligent man, Professor Dershowitz sure was easily snowed.
I still remember the very first time I say Obama. The first words out of my mouth were “Empty suit.” My opinion hasn’t changed.
Combine that with the relationship with Bill Ayres et al and he was a non-starter for me right from the beginning. How Prof. D. didn’t see that is beyond me.

It is a big psychological step for Dershowitz to not only question his assumptions but to do so publically. I suggest we not judge him to harshly as a person. He was steeped in the leftist culture. Support him and perhaps others will risk the examination of their programmed inferences and then risk going public.

Can anyone here name one big name liberal/Demorat that has EVER told the truth about their real intent when running for office? It doesn’t get much better for the supporters like Dershowitz. As has been written, we know more about Thomas Jefferson than we do Barack Obama. Only with a compliant and adoring msm could this have ever happened. I still cannot imagine a presidential candidate telling the public that he has sealed all of his early records! That should have been an automatic disqualification. On AmericanThinker, a writer there has proposed that we use the new acronym of DMIC in place of msm to tell the real involvement that they have with the Demorat party. BTW, it stands for Demorat Media Industrial Complex.
Dershowitz is a product of his time and environment, nothing more. While very intelligent, he has been blinded by the ideology in which he was raised or lived. He became a liberal, racial angst ridden man, because that was the atmosphere in which he lived. So, he supported Barry Soetoro based solely upon the color of his skin, and possibly because he was Ivy League educated. Not unexpected. The same mentality also exists in both conservatives and moderates.
However, as we mature, we often become more clear sighted. As the liberal movement, in this country, has moved so far onto the fringe, many late 20th Century liberals, of high intelligence, have recognized the liberal mentality for what it is, insanity. Welcome back, Mr. Dershowitz.
