Ken Paxton Gains Support From a Surprising Source

Ken Paxton Gains Support From a Surprising Source

“Either we hold every Republican seat or we hand the future of Texas to the other team. That’s why I’m voting for the Republican ticket on November 3.”

Texas Attorney General and Senate nominee Ken Paxton faces serious headwinds in the upcoming midterms, fueling Democrats’ hopes of finally realizing their longtime dream of turning the red state blue. The Republican currently trails his opponent, Texas state Rep. James Talarico, by 2.8% in the RealClearPolitics polling average. Since mid-June, Paxton has won only a single poll by a single point. His odds of winning the race on betting website Polymarket are 37% vs. 65% for Talarico.

On Saturday, an unlikely ally came to Paxton’s defense — his estranged wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton.

Republican political action committee Texas PAC released an ad on Saturday starring Angela Paxton. While she did not utter his name, she urged Texans to vote for the Republican ticket next month.

She began, “I’m Texas Senator Angela Paxton. People have asked my thoughts about this election, and it turns out, I have some.”

She continued:

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. In a general election, it’s not as much about the individual players on the team. It’s about getting the whole team across the finish line. Either we hold every Republican seat or we hand the future of Texas to the other team. That’s why I’m voting for the Republican ticket on November 3.

Let’s hold the line together.

Angela Paxton delivered a similar message last month in a speech titled “The Elephant in the Room” at a Texas Federation of Republican Women event.

She said:

Because we have more control over that seat and the future when we control the seat — when it’s still in the family, even if we’re mad at them. But if we lose it to the other team, the nuances that we want to fix with maybe a certain candidate are nothing compared to what it’s going to take to get it back, right?

This, from the same woman who took to X in July 2025 to announce she’d filed for divorce from Paxton “on biblical grounds.” Her post read:

I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation.

But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage.

Hours later, citing Angela Paxton’s announcement, National Republican Senatorial Campaign Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez released a statement trashing Ken Paxton:

What Ken Paxton has put his family through is truly repulsive and disgusting. No one should have to endure what Angela Paxton has, and we pray for her as she chooses to stand up for herself and her family during this difficult time.

The NRSC had endorsed current Republican Sen. John Cornyn over Ken Paxton in this race three months earlier and hoped that Paxton would go away.

Angela Paxton’s public divorce announcement and the NRSC’s despicable response dominated the news cycle at the time and likely still linger in the minds of many Texas voters. She was likely writing out of raw emotion. The NRSC, on the other hand, acted out of malice and had no business inserting itself into Paxton’s divorce.

Angela Paxton seems to have evolved over the 15 months since kneecapping her husband’s political future.

Apparently, it’s taken the NRSC a little longer. According to the Texas Tribune, national Republicans spent less than $6 million on this race in the first three months after Paxton’s May 26 nomination.

But realizing that even a “flawed” Republican is better than Talarico and that the outcome of this race could determine party control of the Senate, Republican groups are now investing heavily to defend the seat.

The Tribune reported that the GOP spent $122 million on ads in September and have reserved another $66 million in airtime through Election Day. In addition, Trump’s super PAC has contributed nearly $24 million, and Paxton’s campaign is launching its own $20 million statewide ad buy.

Time will tell whether Angela Paxton’s calls for a straight Republican ticket — even if her estranged husband is on it — will affect this race. Or if the die was cast on that fateful day in July 2025.

I was expecting Talafreako to use Mrs Paxton in one of his ads. I’m pleasantly surprised.

Expect, heck. It’s an absolute fact that every leftist Dem operative with a wallet has been in contact with her directly or indirectly in an attempt to get her to say something, anything at all, negative against Paxton. If the money being offered by side-channels was not at least a hundred-thou, I’ll eat this napkin.

I live in Texas and watch very little TV with the exception of some sports and Jeopardy. The TV ads for Talefreako were prolific in July, august and early Sept with no paxton ads. Since mid sept Paxton ads are running close to even time with Talafreako.

The Paxton Ads are driving deep into Talefreako’s promotion of gender mutilation care.

Living in Kansas, I don’t see local TV from Texas and the only ads I’ve seen are those interrupting YouTube videos I’m trying to watch.

What strikes me about those is that they are almost always Talarico ads begging for money. They talk about turning Texas purple and fighting against Trump and MAGA, but nothing about issues and positive reasons to support Talarico.

Any pro-Paxton ads that sneak past the YT filters highlight Talarico saying something stupid in the Texas legislature, usually something about there being six genders and God being non-binary.

I live in a suburb where yard signs ran about 50-1 in favor of biden and about 20-1 for Harris.

The talafreako signs were out early since mid summer though slightly less than the level of Biden signs or harris signs, though still quite prolific.

Starting in Mid Sept, I have noticed several yards with PAxton signs including yards that did not have trump signs. Thus there may be hope.

The only occasions where the GOPe ever takes pains to differentiate themselves from the Democratic Party is when doing so will ensure a loss.

The polls have such a small sample they are statistically insignificant. They are hoping to sway the people that can’t think for themselves. Hopeful that Texas stays red.

She’s not supporting him, she’s just trying to duck any responsibility if he loses.

I see a lot of polling as wishful thinking and information warfare to influence rather than to inform. How many times have we seen polls turn out to be full of it? Remember the day before the 2016 election when Shrillary had a 97% or so chance of winning the Presidency?

I do! I do! And I remember watching Wolf Blitzer walking back and forth between a map and a panel of “experts,” trying to figure out what was going wrong. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Two years ago, some friends and I had a zoom cocktail party watching the returns. As soon as the flyover results started coming in, it became clear that it was game over for the hyena.

Suffice to say that in Texas, it’s the “bitter brew we’re drinking” with the choice of Paxton or lying Li’l Jimmy Low-T. Paxton did send RINO John and his 6-year election-Stetson to pasture, long overdue, and his expected Senatorial votes align with the best interests of Texas, the United States, and me, myself and I. And if he wins, Paxton can go crawl about in the D.C. swamp where he belongs, out of Texas. The brave lady Angela Paxton deserves better.

I don’t live in Texas (I have my own problems in California). From what I understand, Paxton has a lot of ethical baggage, and John Cornyn would have won easily, but Trump wanted Paxton, so it’ll be his hat to wear if that weirdo actually wins Texas.
