Trump Might Temporarily Pull Blanche’s AG Nomination Until Cornyn, Tillis Leave
Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis, who leave office in January, want assurances over an IRS settlement regarding Trump.
President Donald Trump might temporarily pull acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s nomination until GOP Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis leave office in January.
Trump wrote on Truth Social:
Todd Blanche is a STAR, and everyone knows it! He has the potential to go down as one of the Greatest Attorney Generals of All Time. However, John Cornyn, of Texas, and Thom Tillis, of North Carolina, both of whom I refused to Endorse, and whose political careers have been ended by my action, are refusing to vote for this Great Nominee, who will remain, in any event, as Acting. Remember, both Cornyn and Tillis voted for Merrick Garland, and others, too numerous to mention. I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office. President DONALD J. TRUMP
The Senate Judiciary Committee canceled Thursday’s vote to advance Blanche’s nomination to the Senate floor.
Cornyn and Tillis want assurances over an IRS settlement regarding Trump:
GOP Sen. John Cornyn said Wednesday, less than 24 hours before a critical committee vote, that he is “not prepared” to support Todd Blanche’s confirmation as attorney general as the two continue to tangle over the fate of a controversial DOJ-brokered settlement agreement involving President Donald Trump.
Blanche did not appear for a planned morning meeting in Cornyn’s office, and the senator told reporters that time was running out for Blanche to meet his demand to formally modify the settlement Trump reached with the IRS earlier this year — a key ultimatum the Texas Republican set out after Blanche’s confirmation hearing earlier this month.
“Hopefully they now recognize the seriousness of this,” said Cornyn, who recently lost his bid for renomination to a fifth term to a Trump-backed challenger. “Maybe they think I’m just going to give up or, you know, go along, but they’re mistaken.”
A DOJ official said the department shared a “written proposal” with Cornyn’s staff Tuesday. “We look forward to further discussion around any outstanding concerns,” said the person, who was not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.
Cornyn said Wednesday that he has yet to see “a single piece of writing that is responsive to what I’ve requested.”
Tillis keeps moving the goalposts.
In April, he threatened not to vote for Trump’s pick if they watered down the January 6 investigation.
Then Tillis warned Blanche he wouldn’t vote for him until he met with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein.
Now it’s all about the IRS settlement. Tillis, just admit that you won’t vote for Blanche no matter what.

Evil doers
Cornyn and Tillis are deliberately trying to hurt Trump and his family over future IRS Audit concerns. The same IRS, mind you, that leaked Trump’s tax returns to the NY Times and resulted in the favorable IRS settlement. I think it’s time for the FBI to dig up some Menendez type of dirt on these two yo-yo’s and blast it all to the press.
They are lame ducks so they don’t care.
Not only are they lame, but dirty, filthy and rotten.
Merely emphasizing the reason why they are not returning.
Trump already said he’s just going to wait until these 2 RINO jerkoffs are gone.
BOTH of them voted for Garland, btw, and Cornyn even gave a sanctimonious speech about how Garland was a fantastic step to ‘de-politicize’ the DOJ.
They have zero leverage here.
Once these 2 were officially sent packing, they ran to the communist media and said how a weight was lifted from their shoulders and they could act and speak freely now. They always hated the constituents they claimed to support and said as much when they lost. Good riddance.
“Maybe they think I’m just going to give up or, you know, go along, but they’re mistaken.”
You may not give up, or go along. But you will go away.
Inconceivable! I have been assured that Tillis and Cornyn are staunch rock-ribbed ultra-ultra-ultra-ULTRA conservative Republicans a hunnerd and ten percent against the Democrats!
Why I myself saw Cornyn in a campaign commercial on TV during the primary touting his record on border security. Do you want to know how I knew he is a staunch rock-ribbed ultra-ultra-ultra-ULTRA conservative Republican a hunnerd and ten percent against the Democrats? HE WAS WEARING A COWBOY HAT!!
As Trump proposes, wait for the two power-drunk RINO louts to clear out come January, then run Blanche’s nomination again, with the tacit warning that “RI-NO’s” will be similarly dealt with. Ironic that McConnell held up Garland’s SCOTUS consideration until Trump could return to office, knowing the evil elf would have gotten “yes” votes from these two. Now, let the RINO trash take out themselves.
“Return”?! As Alice said, if you haven’t yet had any tea you can’t very well take more.
