Pregnant Nurse Hunted By Internet Mob After False Accusations Of Theft and Racism Will Sue, Lawyer Says

Pregnant Nurse Hunted By Internet Mob After False Accusations Of Theft and Racism Will Sue, Lawyer Says

“She’s been called a racist, she’s been called a thief, there are reasons defamation laws exist, and we plan to pursue that.”

The nurse at the center of a controversial video that went viral this week has lawyered up and is apparently already pursuing legal action.

Who can blame her? She was just trying to get home, and now her life is ruined because the internet mob came for her.

From National Review:

Lawyer for Pregnant NYC Nurse Involved in Bike Feud Vows to Sue Media for Defamation

The lawyer representing a pregnant New York City physician’s assistant whose confrontation with a group of black men over a rented bike led to her suspension from the hospital where she works said he plans to sue media outlets that cast her as a racist thief.

Sarah Jane Comrie got into an argument last week with a few young black men, who claimed she was stealing a rental bike they paid for. Video of the incident quickly circulated on social media, generating millions of views and prompting Bellevue Hospital to place her on leave pending investigation. Her attorney Justin Marino said he later obtained a receipt, which was provided to multiple outlets, proving Comrie paid for the bike…

“We are gonna get an answer when we start filing defamation lawsuits,” Marino told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer Friday. “She’s been called a racist, she’s been called a thief, there are reasons defamation laws exist, and we plan to pursue that.”

See the video below:

People are already trying to cover their tracks.

This is all very reminiscent of Justine Sacco—another leftist internet mob victim based on what was, at worst, an ambiguous tweet.

Oh, I hope they sue Benji Crump for everything he’s worth as well as all the hospital that suspended her as well as all of the media outlets that jumped on the bandwagon and called her a racist thief even when it became evident that she was nothing of the sort.

She and her lawyer should go for BILLIONS for that defamation. (If Dominion is allowed to sue for those amounts then so should she.)

Not sure who downticked you but anyone on here that defends Crump, a pile of human garbage, can go straight to hell.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to healthguyfsu. | May 22, 2023 at 7:24 am

I’ve obviously pissed off some reader of this blog and he/she now simply down votes me without comment. Would be nice if the system here allowed you to see who up and down voted any particular comment you make. But alas, like the ever elusive “edit button” I suspect that will never happen.

In any case, Benji Crump is just the next race baiting black lawyer in a long line of race baiting black lawyers. He’s really got nothing to be proud of. But here we are and there we go.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to healthguyfsu. | May 26, 2023 at 9:09 pm

      It was probably an accident

She should also demand that they publicly apologize to her on major news networks. And that the major news networks, and every network that defamed her, do so as well. Once per hour, at the top of every hour, for 24 hours (heck, maybe even more).

I reckon she should go after people on this order;

1. Each individual “journalist” who talked shit about her like Crump! Make them suffer as individuals outside of their employer! Make them pay from their own pockets!

2. Her employer who SHOULD have known better than to react, without any evidence what do ever, to the Democrat mob.

3. Media outlets who spread lies and defamed her.

Fuck them all and fuck them good and hard until they bleed from their mouths!

I would say that corporations are all cowards but the truth is they are mostly being run by the same people who were happy to abuse that woman.

    Remember the keyword: malice.
    1. Yes, particularly those who jumped straight on the bandwagon to suggest that a pregnant nurse attacked a gang of teenaged thugs to steal their bicycle. An abjectly stupid concept they ran with and hammered like an anvil.
    2. No, provided the employer provided *paid* leave. That’s a norm for out-of-control incidents so they can reply to all questions “The employee is on leave pending the results of the investigation.”
    3. Media outlets who were *provided* the receipts and still happily ran clickbait stories should be pounded like a dirty rug until cash runs out their ears and her unborn child has a college fund to Harvard.

veryskeptic in reply to georgfelis. | May 20, 2023 at 12:00 pm

By referring to those young men as “thugs” you may have defamed them. Proceed with caution.

MajorWood in reply to veryskeptic. | May 20, 2023 at 12:42 pm

Can they provide receipts that they aren’t? 😉

Exiliado in reply to veryskeptic. | May 20, 2023 at 1:51 pm

A group of men gang up to bully a woman in public, and try to steal from her, a pregnant woman to be exact.
“Thugs” is an appropriate term, and anyone who disagrees please feel free to provide evidence to the contrary.

inspectorudy in reply to veryskeptic. | May 23, 2023 at 2:06 pm

BS! Look up the meaning of “Thug” and it perfectly describes these thugs. The Thugs were a gang in India that robbed travelers and TOOK their belongings. How can that defame these guys who did exactly that?

moonmoth in reply to georgfelis. | May 20, 2023 at 12:49 pm

Why would she want her child to go to Harvard?!

nordic prince in reply to georgfelis. | May 20, 2023 at 1:34 pm

Media outlets who ran with the story initially without verifying the facts of the incident need to be taught a lesson, even if they later published an update/ retraction.

They had no business presenting unverified rumors as “fact.”

    Ima_Uzer in reply to mailman. | May 23, 2023 at 4:27 pm

Not to be “that guy”, but Ben Crump is a lawyer, not a journalist.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to mailman. | May 26, 2023 at 9:39 pm

It is important that every black grifter be nailed, that is hands down the most out of control group today. How is it that 13% of our population have gotten away with jerking around the other 87% for so long? I do not begrudge blacks success as long as it is based on actual merit. 10% of blacks have an IQ of 100 and up. Those are capable of competing on merit. What happens with the rest?

The vile Dumb-o-crat demagogues are happy to sling baseless accusations of alleged racism, first, and, then, concede facts, later, after lives have been destroyed and societal cohesion has been further eroded and corroded. They have a Narrative(TM) to promote and propagate — and, money to hustle — after all.

BierceAmbrose in reply to SeiteiSouther. | May 22, 2023 at 11:30 pm

Do let’s recall the opportunist who orchestrated it all, who parlayed the infamy into a career that beats working.

She ended up in bad shape, the accused worse, and every institution that mess touched was diminished. The middle-things always make out.

inspectorudy in reply to nordic prince. | May 23, 2023 at 2:08 pm

Guess what infamous race hustler started that one? Al Sharpton. Of course, it was later proved a total fraud but as usual with black criminals, no one was punished.

I’d absolutely love a segregated country. I’d happily sell my house and relocate if I never had to deal with the attitude of blacks, especially of recent. In southern parlance, they have their ass on their shoulders and are itching for a fight.

inspectorudy in reply to scooterjay. | May 23, 2023 at 2:15 pm

I think we might be heading to a time in our country when we redistribute portions of it by race and politics. No secession but redistribution. For instance, take a portion of land and make it leftist and one for the right. There could also be a portion for blacks to set up their own nation with their own laws with no group to hate. I have no idea how it would end up but I think there would be consequences for two of the regions. The left and the black nations would descend into chaos and anarchy because of their disdain for law and order. I’m not sure how the right nation would end up but one thing for sure, it would not be chaos.

Opinion is based upon underlying facts. In the absence of facts or when the facts run counter to your argument about an individual that isn’t an opinion. It is in my view libel/slander at that point. No free pass for those who wish to say ‘well based on what we knew at the time..’; not good enough when a delay of a few hours or days to gather more facts would have changed the article or statement.

The only way to rein in the mob mentality and feeding frenzy where folks skip over the evidence and impatiently and/or inaccurately make false claims about others is to create a deterrent in the form of civil damages. Some media organ or grifter wants to the first to break a story? Make it expensive to do so when they are proven wrong. Make it more profitable to be correct than to be first.

MajorWood in reply to CommoChief. | May 20, 2023 at 12:45 pm

You are giving them too much credit. They continue for days afterwards even when the contrary facts are being made public. Think Oberlin. We are 6-1/2 years out and some of them still don’t have a clue what happened, or refuse to see reality. There is a fine line where “mistaken” becomes actual mental illness.

CommoChief in reply to MajorWood. | May 20, 2023 at 3:36 pm

Especially high damages should be imposed in cases where the available facts run counter to the statements being made.

BierceAmbrose in reply to CommoChief. | May 22, 2023 at 11:35 pm

Don’t need to claim much. Just enough to mount a messaging campaign sufficient to repair reputations, reinstate opportunities lost, and recover financies.

“Redress” as in make things as if it never happened, seems about right. I would think it suffficient if the zeitgeist instigators simply used enough of their air time to set the country’s perceptions back as before. Shouldn’t take more than a decade or so.

healthguyfsu in reply to CommoChief. | May 21, 2023 at 12:17 pm

They don’t even have to wait for the facts. They could just present the facts they have and avoid prejudicial opinions and commentary. They won’t do that, but it would solve their issue of having to be fast with the news.

inspectorudy in reply to CommoChief. | May 23, 2023 at 2:18 pm

I have advocated this principle to be applied to the msm. Make it a law that they have to prove that what they print/air has had a certain amount of due diligence applied before running with it. We as the public have had enough of the ole “Scoop” mentality and couldn’t care less about who had it first but more, who had it right.

Still haven’t seen anything on the what, 5 men bullying a pregnant nurse. Who are they? Do they have criminal backgrounds?

inspectorudy | May 20, 2023 at 11:06 am

In the world that we live in today, when you see a story that says three large black teenage men defend themselves from a small pregnant nurse trying to steal their rental bike, does credibility with that statement ring true? Of course not! That group is the deadliest, most criminal group in America today but the msm would have you believe that this tiny pregnant woman would attack them! This shows how far from reality the msm has become and how little credibility they have. And on top of this horrible mischaracterization, her employer placed her on leave because of it! I hope she is able to retire with the money she is going to get from Crump, NBC, the hospital, and the three thugs that attacked her.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to inspectorudy. | May 20, 2023 at 12:53 pm

    Yes!!!!1!!!!1!! White supremacy.

I am not quite as strong in my feelings as scotterjay, but, I sure do long for the days when such a group would not DARE do what they did. Back then, they either didn’t do it because it was wrong, or, knew they would suffer consequences because we still had peace and order in our communities.

E Howard Hunt | May 20, 2023 at 11:07 am

Nuke the media and press charges against the men who assaulted her for the bike.

No prisoners.

It is NYC. She doesn’t have a chance with a jury. In fact they will make her pay the attorney fees. Black Privilege. They wanted her bike, she was supposed to hand it over.

henrybowman in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | May 20, 2023 at 5:39 pm

Um. no. Gins don’t PICK cotton. From nps.gov:

Prior to the invention of the cotton gin, slavery was in decline. The profitably of crops grown with slave labor, such as rice, tobacco, indigo and cotton was steadily decreasing. Some slaveholders began freeing their slaves in response. By effortlessly separating the seeds from the cotton fibers, the cotton gin removed the main obstacle to producing cleaned cotton. As the price of cotton decreased, the demand for cotton soared; so too did the demand for more land and more slaves to grow and pick the cotton. The number of slave states increased from six in 1790 to 15 in 1860. By 1860, one in three Southerners was a slave. The labor-saving device Whitney created effectively rejuvenated the institution of slavery in the South, split American society and thus was a significant factor leading to disunion and the Civil War.

LukeHandCool | May 20, 2023 at 1:54 pm

So very likely that a pregnant nurse who just finished a 12-hour shift would seek to take on and swindle five young black men. I’m just surprised she didn’t yell, “This is MAGA country!”

Is she a nurse of Physician Ass’t, I’ve seen both

Nurses can be obviously NP but really don’t go Physician Ass’t route, not often anyway

healthguyfsu in reply to gonzotx. | May 21, 2023 at 12:20 pm

There’s a 1 year bridge program for a nurse with a BSN to become a PA. It can be done online.

Yet again we see just how much the demand for white supremacists outstrips the demand for them.

Diversity, Inequity, Exclusion or DIEversity (e.g. racism).

It’s a shame that her fundraiser is on GoFundMe, as I would like to donate.

But I don’t want to see the fundraiser closed and monies stolen, er, umm, “returned.”

Alternate systems. There are several alternatives to GoFundMe.

One does wonder who’s pissed of they can’t have her booted from Twitter quite so easily as before.

In obviously unrelated news, Trigggernomitry’s bank account was suddently closed without explanation.

The bicycle was not her property. She should have just walked away.

    ooddballz in reply to JustSayN2O. | May 21, 2023 at 6:13 am

    Why?
The money used to pay for the bicycle WAS her money. The money she WORKED FOR.
She should just give it up to CRIMINALS?

    Epimetheus in reply to JustSayN2O. | May 21, 2023 at 8:50 am

It was on her credit card. If they stole it and never returned it, she would have been hit with the charges, perhaps more than $1K. They were effectively trying to steal that much from her.

    inspectorudy in reply to JustSayN2O. | May 21, 2023 at 2:04 pm

She had paid for it so it was her property.

Char Char Binks in reply to JustSayN2O. | May 21, 2023 at 7:53 pm

It was her property, the property SHE RENTED. Should I just walk away if someone invades my apartment?

    BierceAmbrose in reply to JustSayN2O. | May 23, 2023 at 12:16 am

I knowWhat’s property compared to life, I mean aside from the tools and means of living, and a concrete embodiment of the chunk of life it took to make the thing?

And who cares about neighborhood business getting burned, or retail stores getting looted. They have insurance.

    /sarc, of course

(Those bike rental “systems” financial model doesn’t work even with lower historical levels of vandalism and theft. They exist only on subsidy greater than what props up light rail scams projects in the US.)

1) Does anybody think that a white, straight woman is going to fine a jury in the People’s Marxist Republic of Manhattan where 10 people will find in her favor?

2) What were her political views? Here was a woman that worked for a public NYC hospital in Manhattan, lived in Manhattan or Brooklyn (couldn’t bike farther than that) and biked to work. If I were a betting person, I’d bet that she was liberal left and probably voted for the politicians and policies that led to this incident. If so, then my sympathy for her mostly evaporates. When you vote for and support crazy stuff, then you have to be prepared to live with the consequences.

inspectorudy in reply to Eric R.. | May 21, 2023 at 2:09 pm

You may be right about that Eric, most in public health tend to the left. But as the old saying goes, “People are liberal until they’re mugged” and “People are conservative until they are falsely arrested/accused”. I think she just might land on our side when this is over.

Char Char Binks in reply to inspectorudy. | May 21, 2023 at 7:55 pm

It doesn’t matter what her political opinions are. She is in the right, and was greatly wronged by so many

According to the studies by Prof Heather McDonald 13% of the population (blacks) commit 50% of the crime and mostly against each other. I wonder if Black on Black crime is considered a hate crime?
