Following in the footsteps of the Dutch government, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is set to impose tougher climate emission restrictions on the country’s farmers. “Citing climate change as the reason, the government wants to see emissions of nitrous oxide from fertilizer reduced,” the Canadian daily Calgary Sun reported earlier this month.
The government’s plan to impose a drastic cut in emissions sets the stage for a farmers’ revolt, similar to the one raging in the Netherlands. “The government has now set a national target “to reduce absolute levels of GHG emissions arising from fertilizer application,” which is exactly the opposite of what farmers have been telling them. Farm groups have been arguing for a reduction in the intensity of emissions, meaning less fertilizer with nitrous oxide per bushel of product, the Canadian newspaper added.
Trudeau is pushing for more brutal ‘Climate Change’ regulations almost a month after the Dutch government enforced similar emission laws, triggering nationwide farmers’ protests.

Provincial agriculture ministers are expressing frustration with the Trudeau government over plans to effectively reduce fertilizer use by Canada’s farmers in the name of fighting climate change.A meeting of federal and provincial ministers wrapped up in Saskatoon on Friday with several provinces saying they are disappointed.The federal government is looking to impose a requirement to reduce nitrous oxide emissions from fertilizers saying it is a greenhouse gas contributing to climate change. While the Trudeau government says they want a 30% reduction in emissions, not fertilizer, farm producer groups say that at this point, reducing nitrous oxide emissions can’t be done without reducing fertilizer use.“Provinces were disappointed by the lack of flexibility and consultation regarding the federal target,” Ontario’s Lisa Thompson said after the meeting.Several provincial governments, and organizations representing farmers have asked for emissions reductions from fertilizer to be measured via intensity – how much food is produced compared to the amount of fertilizer used. The Trudeau government is demanding an absolute reduction in emissions, which farmers say will result in less food being produced at a time when the world can ill afford it.
The drastic measures proposed by the Trudeau government are in line with the policies dictated by the European Union on all its member countries. The radical ‘Climate Change’ agenda, backed by the EU, the United Nations, and the Switzerland-based World Economic Forum, is devastatingly impacting the agriculture sector from Africa to Asia.
Trudeau aimed at the farmers less than six months after his government ruthlessly quelled Canada’s trucker protests. In early January 2021, thousands of truckers from across the nation converged on the Canadian capital, Ottawa. Tens of thousands of ordinary Canadians joined the truckers and motorists under the “Freedom Convoy” banner, protesting the Trudeau government’s COVID restrictions and vaccine mandates.
Trudeau crushed the Freedom Convoy by invoking the ‘Emergency Act’ and putting the leaders of the truckers’ movement behind the bar.
But Trudeau’s crackdown failed to crush the spirit of the anti-globalist movement. The Canadian Freedom Convoy inspired similar protests worldwide, including in the U.S., Australia, and France. When farmers’ protests erupted in the Netherlands last months, Dutch protesters were seen carrying Canadian flags as a symbol of a worldwide protest against the globalist elites.
