NYT: Republican 2020 message is “if you’re a Democrat, you’re either a socialist, a baby killer or an anti-Semite”

Maybe Democrats should stop embracing policies and people who promote socialism, late-term abortion and anti-Semitism.

https://www.facebook.com/IlhanMN/photos/a.785765661532062.1073741828.780941275347834/1657783194330300/?type=3&theater

What do you do when Democrats begin embracing the extreme ideas of their more radically left wing comrades? If you’re the New York Times, you whine about Republicans calling them out on it, that’s what:

In the 116th Congress, if you’re a Democrat, you’re either a socialist, a baby killer or an anti-Semite.

That, at least, is what Republicans want voters to think, as they seek to demonize Democrats well in advance of the 2020 elections by painting them as left-wing crazies who will destroy the American economy, murder newborn babies and turn a blind eye to bigotry against Jews.

The unusually aggressive assault, which Republican officials and strategists outlined in interviews last week, is meant to strangle the new Democratic majority in its infancy. It was set in motion this month by President Trump, who used his State of the Union address to rail against “new calls to adopt socialism in our country” and mischaracterize legislation backed by Democrats in New York and Virginia as allowing “a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth.”

Then last week, Republicans amped it up, seizing on a Twitter post by a freshman representative, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, which even some Democrats condemned as anti-Semitic, and ridiculing the “Green New Deal,” an ambitious economic stimulus plan unveiled by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described democratic socialist. Suddenly even Jewish Democrats were abetting anti-Semitism and moderate Democrats in Republican districts were Trotskyites and Stalinists.

First, Trump did not “mischaracterize” the abortion legislation in New York and Virginia. New York’s revised abortion law no longer criminalizes abortion at all. And Democratic Rep. Kathy Tran admitted her legislation would make third trimester abortions up until the moment of birth much easier to obtain in Virginia.

Secondly, this isn’t an “unusually aggressive assault”, especially when you consider the left’s history of relentlessly vilifying their opponents. Republicans are “racists”, “bigots”, “homophobes”, “misogynists”, and/or “Nazis” who all want to kick children, the elderly, the disabled, and puppies out onto the streets.

So what’s so different about Republicans turning the tables on Democrats? What’s so alarming this time around about a tried and true tactic political parties have used against each other since political parties came into existence?

Let’s analyze the data.

The rising stars in the Democratic party, the ones making all the waves and getting the first class treatment in media circles are upfront and center representatives of the labels Republicans are using to describe the party.

Freshman Congresswomen Ilhan Omar (MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI) are anti-Semites, something well-known to voters in their respective districts prior to their elections.

First-term Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) is an admitted socialist who recently formed a disturbing political alliance with British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is also an anti-Semite.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, a “Democratic socialist” and an independent who caucuses with Democrats, gave Hillary Clinton a run for her money in the 2016 presidential primaries. If he decided to join the 2020 presidential race, polls show he’d be a leading contender, second only to possible 2020 candidate Joe Biden.

As to the infanticide charge, as noted earlier Democrats in states like Virginia and New York are proponents of radical laws that significantly loosen restrictions on third trimester abortions. Similar legislation has been pushed by Democrats in New Mexico, Vermont, Rhode Island, Washington, and Massachusetts.

The reason the New York Times is so bothered by the use of these terms to describe Democrats is because they are true. And not only are they true, but those “pouncing” Republicans have the political ammunition to make the labels stick – by using the left’s own words against them.

This is the paper’s way of trying to get out in front of the charges before they take root, in an effort to shame Republicans into backing off of using such “aggressive” and “demonizing” tactics.

What a drag it must be for the NYT that they can’t control national political narratives anymore. It almost makes you feel sorry for them, doesn’t it?

Nah.

For once, the NYTimes sounds like they’ve actually got it right!

It’s the rare occasion when they are not faking news, conducting trials by press, or projecting their bigotry/sanctimonious hypocrisy.

Oh, and the correct term is selective-child or life deemed unworthy of life, and cannibalized, or, perhaps recycled-child if you’re Planned Parenthood. A wicked solution.

    Well……

    It’s the truth!

    Milhouse in reply to Erasmus65. | February 19, 2019 at 11:00 am

Not really. Its story is not that these things are true but that the Republicans are falsely accusing Democrats of these things. This is a general tactic of the leftist MSM: if a Republican says or does something wrong that is the story; if a Democrat says or does something wrong the story is that Republicans are accusing him/her of it.

No! The NY Times was being KIND!

They forgot pedophile, pervert, traitor, communist, maoist, ignoramus, narcissist, embezzler, thief, felon, illegal alien, fascist, racist, useful idiot, or actor – among others.

And the NY Times holds itself out as the paper of record…

NYT: Republican 2020 message is “if you’re a Democrat, you’re either a socialist, a baby killer or an anti-Semite”

Well…that’s a start.

We’re no where near done with that list.

There are some truly low intelligence people in congress. mazie hirono said she was for the new green deal, except when asked about the air travel portion and the effect on Hawaii, it was as if she hadn’t even put any thought into it. She looked like an absolute fool. Islands tipping over, flags planted on Mars, Sparticus moments… our congress is a $hi+ show.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) on her tweet saying the Jussie Smollett case was an “attempted modern-day lynching”: “Which tweet? What tweet? … [laughs] Um, ah, ah, uh, okay, so I will say this about that case, I think the facts are still unfolding and um, I’m very, um, concerned”

Pretty sure she has a staffer doing little things like tweets. That is why she was so puzzled, she didn’t know about it.

You mean “typing your own Tweets” Is for the Little People????

Milhouse in reply to amwick. | February 19, 2019 at 11:14 am

Trump also hired someone to tweet on his account — Dan Scavino. That was a key factor in the court decision that the account had become an official government one, on which official business was being conducted by government employees, and was therefore subject to the first amendment. But I’m sure Trump read everything Scavino posted for him, so he’d never have a moment like this.

Let’s not forget that the large number of semi-automatic weapons’ high-capacity ammunition magazines in circulation will eventually all go away as the ammunition in them is used up. (Yeah, that was said by a Dem, I believe it was in Colorado.)

U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette,(demoncrap) Colorado-1 made that crap-for-brains observation several years back displaying for one and all just how stupid you can be and still get elected to Federal office.

Unsurprisingly, the idiotic voters in that district keep re-electing her.

      Missed the memo on reloading

Count your blessings. Neither of those cretins are public school teachers.

DaveGinOly in reply to NotKennedy. | February 19, 2019 at 12:17 am

The downside is their existence is evidence of the quality of all the teachers/educators who contributed to their indoctrination. Teachers and educators who are right now indoctrinating hundreds, if not thousands of other young people.

Milhouse in reply to NotKennedy. | February 19, 2019 at 11:16 am

That’s not a blessing; they’re too smart to be public school teachers. The actual teachers are even dumber and less honest than them.

I just want the un-varnished truth.

nyt also gets the seal of approval from newsguard. Newsguard is a left wing anti Trump entity.

Eskyman in reply to Milhouse. | February 19, 2019 at 11:02 pm

When CNN & WaPo are “trusted news sources” then expecting truthfulness from NewsGuard is foolish. According to them, the Drudge Report is “questionable,” while content from CNN is “trustworthy.”

I tend not to trust content from providers when known liars tell me they’re honest & true. If I didn’t already know that LI is actually trustworthy, seeing the NewsGuard logo would tend to make me doubt the content here; YMMV.

Mark Dice has a lot of examples showing NewsGuard putting their stamp of approval on known FakeMedia lies:
      https://youtu.be/aFpjyurafvc

Milhouse in reply to Eskyman. | February 20, 2019 at 3:36 am

Drudge is questionable, and always has been. Nobody would even have heard of it if it hadn’t got lucky with one sensational scoop early on that turned out to be true despite warning flags that caused more responsible sources to avoid it.

And Dice’s video is just stupid. NewsGuard doesn’t fact-check individual stories, so highlighting its mark next to stories that turned out to be wrong is irrelevant. It determines as best it can which are serious news sources and which are trash. And however good or bad a job you think it’s doing, it does it objectively, with complete non-partisanship. Leftist and rightist sources get exactly the same scrutiny.

The New York times would love it if that’s all Republicans campaigned on in 2020. What they don’t want is Trump and other Republicans cruising to because of a roaring economy.

stevewhitemd in reply to Eastwood Ravine. | February 18, 2019 at 9:02 pm

Mr. Trump, of course, will campaign on all of the above, and he’s demonstrated that he’s pretty darned effective at it.

    A yuuge economy.
Plenty of jobs, especially for minorities.
And my opponents are hate-filled, anti-Semitic, baby-killing, socialists.

Yes, I can see how that might work…

Problem is the people at the rallies will hear about all the positive accomplishments of the President and his administration. Those not attending the campaign rallies will only hear Russia, RUSSIA, RUSSIA!!! and how “all the people in his campaign have been indicted or convicted” (always attempting to be careful and avoid mention of the crimes found in the indictments).

DAZI (e.g. redistributive change, social justice adventures), Pro-Choice (e.g. denial of due process including warlock trials, cruel and unusual punishment of the wholly innocent), and Diversitist or color judgment (e.g. denial of individual dignity, Jew… White privilege). Also politically congruent, prone to conflation of logical domains, and subject to flat-Earth consensus, including prophecies built on models (i.e. hypotheses) and inference from observation in isolation to predictions (i.e. extra-scientific) of global proportions.

To anger a conservative, tell him/her a lie.

To anger a leftist, tell him/her/them the truth.

DAZIs do have nice, albeit, public smoothing functions (e.g. welfare), and there is an open debate of the efficacy and fidelity of public vs private (e.g. charity, insurance) smoothing functions.

it’s not “either” . . . “or” it’s “and” . . . “and”

A site I’ve begun to love is The Babylon Bee – great satire – their take on this: https://babylonbee.com/news/conservatives-accused-of-making-liberals-look-bad-by-simply-reading-list-of-things-liberals-believe

    gospace in reply to 94Corvette. | February 18, 2019 at 10:53 pm

Thing with that and some other recent articles in the Babylon Bee is that it’s not actually satire. It’s real news masquerading as satire.

Or a traitor who wants to leave the border open to invaders.

This story is just a minor variation on the “Republicans pounce” theme.

Democrats have been demonizing Republicans and Conservatives for decades. Is there a story about that? Of course not.

“If you’re a Democrat, you’re either a socialist, a baby killer or an anti-Semite.”

That should be the GOP message in 2020. But while it is far short of the truth, it will not be used by them. To the Republican Party, it would be too rude, and besides it would please the members of their party too much. They will try to lose to the Democrats.

Subotai Bahadur

NYT – “If you’re a Democrat, you’re either a socialist, a baby killer or an anti-Semite.”

Democrats – And those are our good qualities!

AOC, Northam, Omar – We support this message!

That’s not a “message”. It’s the truth.

The Dems have embraced Gaslighting. “Who are you going to believe, us the blue-checked purveyors of truth, or your lying eyes?”

In the 116th Congress, if you’re a Democrat, you’re either a socialist, a baby killer or and an anti-Semite.

FIFY

That is a very strange article. It basically admits that the D’rats have seriously screwed the pooch with their recent and very public trifecta of infanticide, incorrigible Jew hatred, and plans to inflict Stalinism (oh, sorry, an “ambitious economic stimulus plan”, ha-ha) on the US. And the Repubs don’t have to do anything more complicated than hold up a mirror and let the D’rats own words massacre them.

But they should cheer up, the R’s can still bungle it. It’s a gift they’ve honed with years of practice.

Ok? So what percent of congressional democrats are not at least one of the three among anti Semitic, pro abortion’ or pro socialism?

REPUBLICANS POUNCE – by by pointing out things that Democrats do all the time.

It isn’t a republican message! If you’re a Democrat you ARE a Socialist, baby killer, or anti-Semite!

The Prince did’t TELL Cinderella she was the one…the shoe fit!

Freshman Congresswomen Ilhan Omar (MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI) are anti-Semites, something well-known to voters in their respective districts prior to their elections.

No, it wasn’t. MN-5 voters who rely on the mainstream news sources for their information had no idea about Omar until after the primary (which in that district is the real election), because the Star Tribune and MPR deliberately hid it from them.

gospace in reply to Milhouse. | February 19, 2019 at 12:30 pm

Freshman Congresswomen Ilhan Omar (MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI) were well known to be be muslims, not hidden, indeed, praised by the MSM. Anyone who didn’t know from that they were anti-Semites (meaning anti-Jewish since Palestinians and many other Arabs are Semites) was being willfully ignorant.

Reality 101- muslims are anti-Jewish, anti-Christian, anti-Latter Day Saints, anti-atheist, anti-Any belief not muslim. If they tell you differently- they’re practicing taqiyya, the approved islamic practice of lying to non-muslims.

Milhouse in reply to gospace. | February 19, 2019 at 6:25 pm

That is BS. Being a Moslem does not make someone an antisemite. The voters of MN-5 had no information that Omar was not an open-minded civic Moslem American whom any liberal could support to show how open-minded and civic they were too. The information about who she really is was kept from the voters by the sources they trusted to inform them.

gospace in reply to Milhouse. | February 19, 2019 at 8:30 pm

No, it’s not BS. Find me a real civic minded muslim. We supposedly has one here in New York. Beheaded his wife. https://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/18/nyregion/18behead.html
Seems that many fine outstanding examples of muslims have been found subsequently been found to not be outstanding examples.

That, and since it is MAINSTREAM islamic practice, sealed and approved by all major islamic leaders, to engage in taqiyya- How can you trust one if you’re not one? That unique concept, AFAIK, doesn’t exist in any other religion.

As far as Being a Moslem does not make someone an antisemite goes- under sharia, a muslim can freely kill anyone who is not one of the People of the Book if they refuse to convert. And, under sharia, official islamic law, Jews and Christians have official status as- second class citizens. Since all recognized islamic religious leaders call for sharia to be the law of the land, and treating Jews and Christians as second class citizens is an official tenet of islam- if someone says they are muslim, they are by default anti-semitic. If they aren’t- they are apostates- and can be freely killed by other muslims- under sharia.

And again, if it is a local muslim religious leader talking to you and the press and other non-muslims about how muslims believe in treating all equally, taqiyya is a signed, sealed, and approved islamic practice. How can you believe them? Answer is- you can’t.

Milhouse in reply to gospace. | February 20, 2019 at 3:53 am

It is BS. You don’t know any Moslems, do you?

And “taqiyah” is no different from what every religion says, that you have no obligation to put a noose around your neck by telling the truth to those who will use it to persecute you. When the police ask whether you have a priest hiding in a hole, or Jews in the cellar, it is your duty to lie. When the terrorists ask their fellow Moslems to say the shahada so they won’t shoot them, then if you know the damned thing say it, with a mental reservation.

first they came for the Christians, and you were silent.

The NYT omitted “or a moron” from the headline.

I was raised to believe that women deserve respect, are smart and well balanced BUT these Looney Toons have proven otherwise

And then, in a fit of anger, I, I pounced
And I pounced again
Great googly-moogly!
I jumped up an’ down the chest of the
I injured the fur trapper

That’s some seriously top-tier projection coming from NYT. Is “baby killer” beyond the pale when Democrats scream it at the NRA and legal gun owners? Did I miss the article about how Democrats Pounced! ™ with their constant charges of antisemitism starting at the first moments of the Trump administration? The ongoing screams of NAAAAZI!!!!!!! are okay but calling someone a socialist, when THAT PERSON LITERALLY CALLS HERSELF A SOCIALIST is a horrible unfair attack?

Well, if the shoe fits…
