Report Finds Hillary Clinton Broke Federal Email Rules With Her Server
Will she keep lying?
The inspector general at the State Department says Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton broke federal email rules when she used a private server while she served as secretary of state.
“At a minimum, Secretary Clinton should have surrendered all emails dealing with Department issues before leaving government service,” says an audit by the State Department Inspector General, obtained by NBC News.
“Because she did not do so, she did not comply with the [State] Department’s policies that were implemented in accordance with the Federal Records Act.”
The inspector general also lashed out at the State Department:
The report broadly criticized the State Department as well, saying that officials had been “slow to recognize and to manage effectively the legal requirements and cybersecurity risks” that emerged in the era of emails, particularly those of senior officials like Mrs. Clinton.
It said that “longstanding systemic weaknesses” in handling electronic records went “well beyond the tenure of any one secretary of state” but the body of the report focused on the 30,000 emails that Mrs. Clinton sent and received on her private server.
They found that she received and sent most of her emails through her Blackberry:
Security and records management officials told the inspector general’s office that “Secretary Clinton never demonstrated to them that her private server or mobile device met minimum information security requirements,” the report said.
Federal law says everyone must preserve all government records. Clinton claims she did this because the majority of the “emails were sent to people the State Department system.” But the inspector general countered her claim by saying “sending emails from a personal account to other employees at their Department accounts is not an appropriate method of preserving any such emails that would constitute a federal record.”
The audit found that Clinton did not ask any of the senior State Department officials to approve her private email server. The inspector general showed confidence that none would have done so if she asked:
“It is clear that the Department could have done a better job preserving emails and records of Secretaries of State and their senior staff going back several administrations,” the State Department said in a statement. “We also acknowledge the report’s finding that compliance with email and records management guidance has been inconsistent across several administrations.”
Throughout the campaign, Clinton has said she did not break any rules:
- Someone finally asked Hillary Clinton to Get Real About Her Email Server
- Hillary got swagger: Scoffs at FBI investigation, again
- Face The Nation: Hillary Defends Emails and Benghazi
In March, Professor Jacobson mentioned that her opponent Bernie Sanders has chosen to stay in the race because of the emails:
What is Bernie’s strategy to win? Or in 2016 parlance, what is his “lane” to victory?
I don’t see how he does it. But he has enough money to hang on to the convention, and if he can obtain close to 40% of the vote, he has a credible argument that he should be the nominee if Hillary is indicted or the FBI at least makes a criminal referral to the Justice Department. In either of those scenarios, there will be pressure for the convention to hand the nomination to Joe Biden or someone similar.
But with Bernie sitting there with a large chunk of elected delegates and popular vote, the Democratic establishment will have a hard time pushing him aside.

“Will she keep lying?”, now that’s funny…
Of course she will…Lying Liars Lie…it’s all she knows, all she is, and all she has.
rules

So she obviously broke the rules…. now what? And therein lies the problem. Nothing is going to happen because of this. She won’t be held accountable, she won’t be punished, and the media will lie and lie and lie to protect her anyway.
No one has been held responsible for anything during the time of Obama’s reign at the White house. Hillary is guilty, and it doesn’t matter one bit.
Nor did it really matter during her last reign at the White House. Scandals don’t exist if the media ignores them.
The irony is that these laws were largely pushed by her hippy crowd in the Watergate era. But, of course, they weren’t meant to be applied to her side.
Ah… I’d go for “laws” over “rules.” She will state rules need to be broken…. for the good of “X”… All of this kept a working girl of the streets…isn’t that good?
“off the streets”….
“Report Finds Hillary Clinton Broke Federal Email Rules With Her Server”
So what? We knew this from day 1!
What will happen because she violated the rules?
Will Obama’s DOJ hold her accountable?
Will anyone hold her accountable?
TRUMP 2016!
Of course, the spin is, “the others also did it”. Funny how that works unless it is a Republican being investigated.
What exactly did the others do?
Did Colin Powell have a personal, insecure email server, for example? I read the spin but I don’t see factual backup.
A more fundamental point is that Hillary is a Yale educated elite lawyer who understands the law.
Powell and Rice are not lawyers. They didn’t use personal mail intentionally to hide their emails.
In consciously deciding what she could and couldn’t do with her emails, Hillary failed to heed the oldest axiom in law. She had a fool for a lawyer.
So what is the range of their actions?
Did they occasionally use private email for State business? Was Clinton’s use occasional or frequent?
Did they destroy the emails, like Hillary?
Did they fire State employees who made use of private email like at least one guy I read about who Hillary disciplined.
Did they use insecure devices such as the Blackberry Clinton was warned about?
Did they have a private, insecure email server?
If someone knows, I’m curious. Is it a fair comparison when they say “everyone did it”?
Even Politifact says this comparison isn’t even close because only Hillary used her own server.
Politifact states unequivocally and succinctly …
As an attorney, Hillary Clinton knew what she was doing, knew she was using it to skirt FOIA requests when they were made, and knowingly transmitted highly secret State Department material using an unsecured private server that was open to attack 24/7 by our enemies rather than follow state department protocol.
I disagree that that was the primary difference. The bigger one, I will suggest is that Powell would use his personal email only for such things as telling his people at work that he would be late. Except to the extent that his schedule might be classfied (which happened apparently to Petreaus), there is no evidence that he ever sent or received anything classified on his private account. He used the State Dept systems for anything remotely classified. You are falling into the false equivalence the Hillary people have pushed, that both Powell and Rice also used private email. The difference is that they apparently used their private email addresses to send purely private emails, which is completely acceptable and legal, and is probably preferred for govt employees. Hillary sent and received ALL her email, including at least 30,000 (probably many more – the 30,000 is what she admitted to) work related ones, through her personal, private, unsecured account (and server). Indeed, the 30,000 is probably low, because she provided email accounts on her personal server for a number of her minions at State, and, thus, should also bear responsibility for their work related emails also sent through her server.
To paraphrase her Hillaryness:
“We can have common sense [email] reforms that keep [emails] out of the hands of criminals and the violently unstable while respecting responsible [email] users… The stakes are too high, the costs are too dear, and I am not and will not be afraid to keep fighting for common sense reforms, and along with you, achieve those on behalf of all who have been lost because of [the senseless private and unsecured national security email servers] used in this country.”
“Hillary Clinton Calls for ‘Common Sense’ Gun Reforms in Wake of Charleston Shooting,” huffingtonpost.com, June 20, 2015
This is all a setup to whitewash her lax security and that she was able to use the email to communicate illicitly. (who paid for that server?)
Watch now that they’ve admitted that she made a boo boo, they can let everything slide saying that mistakes were made but nothing criminal. And bazinga she’s in business.
Just as the media now minimizes Bill’s “lying under oath”, “sexual harassment in the workplace” and “rape” by calling it imprecisely “sexual transgressions”, i predict a torrent of media articles about “record keeping transgressions”.
If she is indicted or a criminal recommendation passed by the FBI to the DOJ and the DNC wants to replace her, they will need to pry her off of the nomination with the Jaws of Life!
She will not let go, she will not graciously step aside, she will grasp, cling, dig in, scream, yell J’Accuse, be interviewed 100 more times by George Snuffelupagus, use duct tape, gorilla glue, whatever it takes. She will not go quietly. She will need to be physically restrained and removed forcibly.
Actually that last part would be fun to watch on a 50″ screen over and over!
Maybe she could get Web Hubble to take the fall one more time for old times sake. Maybe Susan McDougal will wear a pants suit and pretend to be Hillary.
She is not guilty. The State Department didn’t stop her using the server and Blackberry….. No enforcement means no crime…. SARC
Pretty weak beer.
Her methods of sending e-mails were “not appropriate”.
Hmmmm. From where I’m sitting, it looks like they were “not legal”. Major difference there.
But that’s OK, because the questionable activity (either criminal, or merely all in good fun) went “well beyond the tenure of any one secretary of state”. Phew! So everybody’s to blame … no worries, that’s just how dumb ol’ Washington does things … nothing to see here, move along …
For a second or two there, I thought the Admin was going to have get cracking and replace the IG as a suitable reward for violating the Party line, but on further reading I see that he left loads of safety valves. He pretends to do his job, Crooked Hillary isn’t threated … win-win!
Just Mrs. Scum being Mrs. Scum.
She’s headed for the trash-heap of junk history.
Why is no one seeing this for what it is? The ID report is nothing more than a part of a larger plan to bring Hillary down. First we were treated to much talk about the investigation. Then we began to see leaks detailing the information against Hillary and, as that continues to escalate, we are now informed of the FBI’s investigation of Terry McAuliffe. His close association with the Clinton’s as well as his financial ties is serving to tarnish Hillary. I predict that we will continue to see more and more information come out in one way r another prior to the final FBI report and recommendation. By the time this comes out, the public opinion against Hillary will be very strong which will all but ensure that Obama’s and the DOJ’s hands are tied. They either pursue an indictment or they suffer enormous backlash from the public.
Time to accept an immunity deal and roll over on Obama!
Hypothetical: Suppose a foreign entity actually HAS BEEN successful in hacking Hillary’s emails. Wouldn’t the threat of exposing such breach afford them a-p-p-r-e-c-i-a-b-l-e leverage in influencing her actions were she elected President of the United States?
I think I commented on this point elsewhere here.
I can imagine Her Royal Hillaryness’s first visit by the Russian Ambassador.
He would present her with, not just with a new ‘reset’ button, but her own folio with copies of the most damning intercepted emails.
So damning that, if released, wouldn’t just result in impeachment, but actually get the Demoncrap caucus of the Senate so incensed that even they would vote to convict.
And more than that, provide evidence more than sufficient to send her, Bill and even Chelsea to adjoining solitary confinement cells in the SuperMax prison for multiple decades.
The cover message would read “Be a shame for this to get out. Now if you’ll keep your piehole shut when we complete the annexation of Ukraine and Estonia back into the Russian Federation, we can all be friends.”
The next ambassador on the schedule would be from the People’s Republic of China and he would have a ‘present’ for her too.
