Romney relaunches Operation Zany

The best evidence that Newt is rising in South Carolina is that the Romney campaign is rolling out a new effort to paint Newt as “unreliable.”

It’s the campaign theme that worked well for Romney in Iowa, when Romney rolled out his strategy of crazy.

Operation Zany has been quiet lately, but no more:

Although I can’t find a link yet, Fox News reported a few minutes ago that Romney is rolling out former Senator Jim Talent, who led the smear campaign in December. (video added)

Is this some sort of theater of the absurd? I’ll modify my prior explanation of clarity:

We are on a path to nominate someone who campaigned against Reagan, campaigned against the Contract with America, campaigned against those who are pro-Life, campaigned against 2d Amendment rights, campaigned against conservatism, and designed and enacted the precursor to Obamacare from which he will not back away, yet may successfully convince Republican voters that he is the most reliable conservative.

Operation Zany is working like a charm … on us.

At the risk of starting something, the guy who believes god the Father has a physical body and lives on a planet named Kolob, Neutie pegged as zany could mean he likes chocolate.

We just can’t win. With Romney as President, the republicans will go back to jacking up spending to buy votes and lining their pockets.

If Newt will just keep going like he did last night, he’ll be fine. I’m hoping he finally found his feet. Last night he was the Newt I remember from the Contract With America days.

“Is this some sort of theater of the absurd?”

I see the point, but in fact it’s quite the opposite: it’s theater of the banal. This is what comes of weakness and fear. What else can he do? As said before, he’s a mirror image of the Leftists in his paucity of choices and the instinct to destroy rather than inspire.

This is the reality: Either we get rid of Romney or Obama will. We still are faced with the task of flushing his like from the party.

Newt’s gonna win this thing – I feel it. Romney did his best Mr. Burns and, “released the hounds!”, but it’s becoming more clear just how great of a political brawler Newt is.

Newt is continuing with Bain attacks. I disagree with your conclusion that Romney is convincing voters he is the most reliable conservative. Nate Silver just posted an article pointing out Romney is convincing voters he is the most reliable candidate period :

So perhaps there was nothing inevitable about Mr. Romney’s expanding much beyond his 25 percent base of support. But these particular candidates proved to be flawed once voters took a deeper look at them.

To some extent, this was for idiosyncratic reasons: Mr. Perry’s poor performance in the debates; Mr. Cain’s sexual harassment scandal; Mr. Gingrich’s vulnerability to a series of attacks. These candidates also shared a common flaw: they largely eschewed a traditional field operation, which meant that they had little bedrock of support once the momentum turned against them.

I’ve supported Newt and Perry for years …. nice to meet all the new bandwagon riders 🙂

So when the ride gets ruff again i hope you all hold on better this time !!!

Newt lost me when he went after Romney as a “vulture capitalist.” That had no place in the debate. Just because the Dems will use is no reason to give their lies legitimacy from people on our side. Shame on Newt and Perry. It’s too bad, because Newt’s performance in SC was brilliant. He’s capable of greatness as a speaker and debater but he can’t seem to keep an even keel.

I have been dragged kicking and screaming into supporting Romney. He promised to repeal Obamacare and that’s enough. Anything is better than Obama at this point.

I think Perry was the one who used the term “vulture capitalist.”

“He promised to repeal Obamacare and that’s enough.” Really?

Romney has repeatedly taken the position that he will ‘fix’ Obamacare rather than repeal it.

    Here’s an example:

    http://www.westernjournalism.com/romney-admits-he-wont-end-obamacare/

He has only promised to repeal “the bad parts” of Obamacare. Considering that, to this day, he defends the unconstitutional individual mandate (even going so far as to proclaim that supporting the mandate is a “conservative position”) and that he has never specified what he considers the “bad parts” to be, who knows if he will attempt to repeal any of it?

Romney is a Big Government Technocrat. Always has been. He firmly believes that Government is the answer to every problem. Unlike Obama, he believes the laws must be well written and highly competent technocrats (like, himself, of course) must be running things to make everything work. The only difference between him and Obama is that Obama believes the country will magically transform into a Socialist Utopia if only Congress would enact his socialist policies. So, no need of a competent technocrat to actually Govern – so Obama sees himself as the salesman pitching the policies to a reluctant public, and then goes play golf.

    “He promised to repeal Obamacare.”

    HE LIED!

I have no problem with candidates bringing up bad records, etc. about his opponents as long as it is the the truth. We need to know about it to make a good decision. I really object when they start making up stuff. We have lived through three years of this cr*p and are tired of it. I should think things like this would turn voters off more than give them incentive to vote for that particular candidate. The problem for the Romney cmpaign and obama also is that the usual republicans are dumb won’t work on Newt. He is an acknowleged brain so they had to come up with crazy. Newt’s performance at the debates should show how much of this is a lie.

“We are on a path to nominate someone who…”

Romney also, as Governor of MA, passed carbon emission standards and a cap and trade law specifically designed to force 6 coal fired power plants to shut down. He was advised by John Holdren – yes THAT John Holdren. Obamacare wasn’t the only law Obama based on something Romney had done, with the same advisors Romney used. The carbon laws had the desired effect – all 6 plants closed and everyone employed by them lost their job. As an added bonus, MA permanently (well, so far anyway) lost 18% of its generating capacity and became a net importer of energy.

“We are on a path to nominate someone who…”

Romney, as Governor, appointed radical leftwing judges known to be strongly pro-abortion and pro-‘gay marriage’. He also enacted laws that not only funded Planned Parenthood but also empowered it legally.

Having Romney as Governor was worse than having Obama’s precursor (Deval Patrick) as Governor. Liberals supported Romney because he championed progressive causes. Republicans felt obliged to not oppose him because he was, nominally, a Republican. Better to have an avowed communist like Deval Patrick in office – at least the Republicans fight against his agenda.

I might even go along with the meme that Newt is crazy if they added…like a fox.

Romney is a vulture capitalist. How does anyone think he doubled his money in a short time. By playing nice?

If anyone thinks Romney wasn’t involved in corporate raiding, go look at the newly published excerpts posted on this site of a book that reveals he indeed was. They didn’t build anything-they just made money under the guise that they were helping companies. If Bain had lost money on these investments that would be a little different-they didn’t.
