Man, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer abides by the whole "rules for thee, but not for me" saying, doesn't she? First, Whitmer breaks her strict COVID protocols with a trip to Florida. Now, she gets caught at an outing with friends at a bar with over a dozen people.

A preference cascade occurs when ordinary people, who have been acting against their inclinations due to societal pressures, suddenly discover that their personal feelings are shared by many of the population. Therefore, public behavior swiftly adjusts accordingly.

Legal Insurrection readers will remember that I was persuaded early on in the pandemic (i.e., Feb. 16, 2020) that the coronavirus at the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic likely came from the Chinese research laboratory in Wuhan. The main question I had was whether the virus was "natural" or the result of gene-modification technology that is the hot, new thing in biological research.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill officially banning vaccine passports and ending public COVID-19 rules. It goes into effect on July 1. Private businesses can still implement their own mask and social distancing rules.
