President Donald Trump officially launched the Pentagon’s new Space Command as part of national efforts to better organize and advance the military’s space programs.

Trump signed a one-page memorandum Tuesday authorizing the Defense Department to create the new command. Speaking at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Vice President Mike Pence said, “a new era of American national security in space begins today.”

U.S., Russian astronauts make emergency landing after launch failure

This October marks the 60th anniversary of the creation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). However, the commemoration was almost marred by tragedy when the launch of a Russian rocket to take an American astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut to the International Space Station was forced to make an emergency landing.

He has steadily erased his predecessor's legacy, returning the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to its original mission of space exploration after it spent years orbiting Planet Diversity. He has directed NASA to partner with American companies to advance small spacecraft and launch vehicle technologies.
