Appeals court ruled no excessive force where arrestee suffocated after being held face down. Rather than deny petition, leaving ruling in place, or taking the case and ruling itself, SCOTUS summarily vacated and remanded. Alito Dissent: "The Court, unfortunately, is unwilling to face up to the choice between denying the petition (and bearing the criticism that would inevitably elicit) and granting plenary review...."

Parent's group at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology: "Fairfax County Public Schools has also broken the hearts of many deserving students by waging a crusade against Asian students at the school, first by proposing a random lottery and later by implementing the current race-balanced “holistic” admissions system that amounts to social engineering."

Our education systems are in turmoil from the recent surge of Critical Race Theory teaching in K-12 and higher ed throughout Rhode Island and the nation. CRT, often misleadingly called 'antiracism' training, makes race and racial conflict the center of everything, plays races against each other, and frequently engages in race-shaming. We can do better.
