Mary is the resident libertarian. She covers stories in every vertical, but her favorite thing to do is take on the media. She saw its bias against the right when she was a socialist.

Mary loves the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, tennis, cats, Oxford comma, Diet Coke, and needlework.

People adopted animals like crazy during the lockdowns, but quite apparently did not actually think things through when they took home the pets. You know, like helping your dog with separation anxiety when you eventually go back to work or school. Shelters and animal rescues across the country have seen a spike in returned pets.

The Department of Justice National Security Division hired Susan Hennessey. You should know her because she was one of the loudest Russian collusion hoaxers in the media during President Donald Trump's administration. Oh, Hennessey also defended the illegal FISA warrants so our privacy is totally in good hands. Then again, she's a former NSA lawyer.

The April jobs report showed the U.S. added only 266,000 jobs during the month and the unemployment ticked up to 6.1%. Economists are usually off the mark, but holy cow. They predicted 978,000 job growth and unemployment of 5.8%. I have never seen such a huge difference between prediction and numbers. Miserable considering the U.S. started to see some growth at the end of former President Donald Trump's term.

Police arrested a man for allegedly beating two Asian women, ages 66 and 67, in a Baltimore liquor store:
The victims were liquor store employees who were closing up shop Tuesday morning when Daryl Doles, 50, allegedly broke into the store and attacked them, according to the report.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported females in the U.S., Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the Northern Mariana Islands only gave birth to 3.6 million babies in 2020. It marks the sixth straight year of declining birth rates. It's also the lowest since 1979.

U.S. District Court Judge Dabney Friedrich threw out the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) eviction moratorium. The CDC implemented the moratorium last year because of COVID-19 and extended it until June 2021.

The New York Post reported a Bronx judge released the man accused of committing numerous Jewish hate crimes because of New York's awful bail-reform laws:
The suspect, 29-year-old Jordan Burnette, was granted supervised release by Judge Tara Collins in Bronx Criminal Court — hours after he was ordered held on bail on 42 charges stemming from his alleged 11-day crime spree, said Patrice O’Shaughnessy, a spokeswoman for the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill officially banning vaccine passports and ending public COVID-19 rules. It goes into effect on July 1. Private businesses can still implement their own mask and social distancing rules.
