Trump Trashes Kayleigh McEnany for the Crime of Allegedly Misquoting Iowa Poll Numbers
“Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany just gave out the wrong poll numbers on FoxNews. I am 34 points up on DeSantimonious, not 25 up. While 25 is great, it’s not 34. She knew the number was corrected upwards by the group that did the poll. The RINOS & Globalists can have her. FoxNews should only use REAL Stars!!!”
Up until recently, few conservative Republicans would have argued that Kayleigh McEnany was anything but a tough-as-nails, diehard Donald Trump loyalist during her time on the campaign trail for him and working in his administration. McEnany stood by him through what was arguably the toughest year of his presidency (2020-2021) and through the dark days of the Capitol riot and its aftermath when some on the right latched on to false but enduring media/Democrat narratives about how then-President Trump supposedly “incited” the riot.
But that was then, and this is now. In McEnany’s position as a co-host on the Fox News program “Outnumbered” and as an occasional guest host on other programs, McEnany, in my view, has tried to take an even-handed approach in her commentary. Presumably, she’s done this to spread her wings a bit politically speaking and so she won’t be viewed as simply repeating whatever Trump and his surrogates say on any given topic.
Occasionally, she has nice things to say about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who last week announced his presidential candidacy and, at this stage, is viewed as Trump’s biggest threat to win the nomination. For instance, back in February, she called him the “hottest governor in Republican politics” during a conversation she was having with her co-hosts about how the Republican presidential race was shaping up.
That apparently didn’t sit well with Trump, who questioned her loyalty in a late April post on Truth Social in response to her praising… Trump:
🇺🇲 — THIS: Trump on Truth Social hinting he was bothered when his former Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany praised his main rival Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the past.

Fast forward a month later, and now Trump has completely disowned McEnany, trashing her Tuesday in another Truth Social post for the crime of allegedly misquoting poll numbers that showed his lead on DeSantis in Iowa was decreasing:
During a Fox News broadcast earlier in the day, McEnany said that DeSantis may be “closing the gap” in Iowa’s GOP primary race, although it was unclear which polls she was referencing. Trump insisted that McEnany had provided the “wrong poll numbers” while laying into her for supposedly promoting the Florida governor, whom he has taken to calling “Ron DeSanctimonious.”
“Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany just gave out the wrong poll numbers on FoxNews,” Trump wrote. “I am 34 points up on DeSanctimonious, not 25 up. While 25 is great, it’s not 34. She knew the number was corrected upwards by the group that did the poll. The RINOS & Globalists can have her. FoxNews should only use REAL Stars!!!”
Shortly before Trump’s post, McEnany said during an appearance on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime that the DeSantis campaign would argue it had “closed the gap by nine points since we announced in Iowa,” with Trump’s advantage in the Hawkeye State supposedly falling from 34 points to 25 points since the governor announced his candidacy last week.
Not a becoming nor smart strategy. @kayleighmcenany was an absolute honey badger as a press secretary. Loyalty is a two-way street. Not a good look. pic.twitter.com/GZWHAtjxM1
— Gad Saad (@GadSaad) May 31, 2023
“Milquetoast,” which is what Trump likely meant to type, means “timid, meek, or unassertive” according to the dictionary definition, and is a word that very few, even among McEnany’s many detractors in the Democrat party and the left-wing media would have ever used to describe her style.
Case in point:
As a rule, I don't like politicians including Trump. I don't like mainstream news either. However, Kayleigh McEnany brought receipts to call out the MSM's lies every single time. She was Trump's best defense. pic.twitter.com/lC3torOOAA
— The Guy With A Big Eye ⭐☕ (@eyecreate_ken) May 31, 2023
What Trump left out was that McEnany indicated that the numbers still showed Trump “hugely” ahead and that, at one point, she was merely (and admittedly) summarizing the DeSantis campaign’s arguments about the polling:
McEnany, now a co-host on Fox’s “Outnumbered,” had only highlighted ever-changing polling numbers to reflect how “the DeSantis team would say we’ve just had polling come out that shows we’ve closed by nine points” in Iowa.
“Still, Trump’s hugely ahead,” she said, again stressing that any suggestion that DeSantis is creeping up on him is “just their argument.”
Some have suggested McEnany did accurately quote the polling and that it’s Trump who got it wrong:
So this is supposedly the poll Trump attacked Kayleigh McEnany over. She didn't get it wrong. pic.twitter.com/T7oirYwSXA
— Blanche Devereaux (@FrankLeeMaDear) May 31, 2023
Also, during McEnany’s guest stint on the Ingraham Angle, she noted that the RCP average shows Trump “pretty much trouncing DeSantis” in Iowa. Perhaps Trump missed this segment as well:

Trump’s attack on McEnany sparked fierce debate on the Twitter machine between the warring camps, with some, including former Trump acting DNI Ric Grenell, claiming without evidence that McEnany was the first one to turn on Trump, not the other way around, so she deserved being cast off as a “RINO Globalist”:
I see Trump is attacking Kayleigh McEnany, probably the most effective surrogate he had during his campaign and Presidency, and who will likely need security and face death threats for the rest of her life because she was so good at her job.
Totally normal!

Kayleigh Mcenany chose to go work for Fox News after all of the shenanigans the network pulled in 2020
She continues to work for Fox after the war on her former boss took full shape. She’s even assisting in it
Trump has every right to call her out
— johnny maga (@_johnnymaga) May 31, 2023
Let me get this straight.
Kayleigh McEnany is fair game for Trump because she dared to take a job at Fox which is a sign of disloyalty to Trump.
But Trump can go on Sean Hannity this week for a Fox Town Hall and that’s meaningless.
Stupidest takes of all stupid takes.
— FugitiveMama (@fugitivemama) May 31, 2023
With all due respect, Marc, Kayleigh has been critical of Trump for awhile now. She’s grown more vocal with her attacks.
Which is her right.
But why can she be disloyal and critical of Trump but he can’t?
As someone who has been in politics for decades, you know loyalty is… https://t.co/T0NPOjAmug
— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) May 31, 2023
Understand that, as you see people defend Trump over his attacks on Kayleigh McEnany, that there’s nothing they won’t defend. He could call their own wives disloyal tramps and they’d say, “well, is he wrong?”
All you can do is decide if this is who you want representing you.
— Bonchie (@bonchieredstate) May 31, 2023
My .02 on this is that I think it’s inarguable that McEnany was one of Trump’s biggest and most unapologetic defenders during her time as his press secretary, and even afterward. But beyond that, what’s most concerning to me about the “disloyalty” argument is that Trump used it on DeSantis before he declared his candidacy, suggesting he was being “disloyal” for considering jumping in, as though the nomination belonged to Trump already.
Needless to say, that’s not how any of this is supposed to work. We have presidential nomination battles so the voters in their respective political parties can directly say who they think is best to represent them in the general election and to preside over the country. To insinuate there should be some sort of coronation before that is, in my opinion, unseemly, and kind of reminds me of how Hillary Clinton and her campaign surrogates viewed her Democratic primary opponents, Barack Obama especially, in 2007-2008 – and again in 2016 with her/their treatment of Bernie Sanders.
As to what Trump’s attacks on Kayleigh McEnany do or do not say about Trump, I’ll leave that to readers to debate.

Comments
Why does DJT think he is helping himself with those comments?
IMO these kinds of remarks have been prevalent for so long that one possible conclusion is that he really can’t “help himself”. I said in 2017 that Trump would not be re-elected if he did not become more “presidential”. It is obvious that people are even more sick of this now.
Back when I resigned myself to vote for Trump the first time, I reasoned that (unlike Hillary, who would have us in her crosshairs 24/7 all four years, just like Biden has), even a loose cannon was pointed in the right direction half the time.
Eight years later, Trump is still a loose cannon. It’s too late and he’s too old for me to hope he’ll ever learn better.
This is the single biggest reason I’m voting for DeSantis, and the thing I hate most about Trump: his public spitefulness and revenge toward people with whom he has worked, who he feels have wronged him. Most people would be upset, for sure. But they would shut the hell up in public. Screaming baby antics and throwing tantrums in public is deplorable (Yes, I said it!) for anyone over the age of two.
I say this as someone who voted for him 2x – most recently, 2-1/2 years ago. His public vindictiveness has increased exponentially over time. I’ve reluctantly tolerated it — but I just can’t anymore. Not for the primary, at least.
Trump has many very good accomplishments and qualities. But this huge deficit colors everything. He cannot or he refuses to control his negative emotions. And he feels the need to respond tit for tat — rather than BREATHE — and think about the ramifications of his actions before doing them. He’s a bull in his own china shop. He’s the enemy sniper of his own unit. It impacts friends, foes, and employees. It is extremely stressful to people. I think it’s why he has such high turnover among his staff.
Trump is past his prime for presidential politics, It’s not policy, and it’s not accomplishing projects. He’s become the Mean Old Man down the street. He needs to get off OUR lawn. We need someone who can do the job without going scorched earth on people.
I also voted for Trump twice. This kind of thing is one of the two main faults I have found with him over the years: his tendency to lash out at people who are less than 100% obsequious and his seeming inability to stop hiring and leaving people in positions who have every intention of destroying him.
I think both are really two sides of the same coin. It’s something to do with a flawed judgement of people’s character. I can’t really explain it but I see it.
It’s a bit heartbreaking to me. He really was a good president. Not a single war his entire term.
“”Not a single war his entire term.””
Well, unless you include Syria and Afghanistan….
Let’s not forget the ‘advisors’ in Ukraine while the Ukrainian government was cracking down in the Donbas. Among the many other little known actions around the globe that the US Military and/or IC is running.
Thanks for putting into words what I’ve been thinking…well…forever. I have had conversations with different friends and we all agree: Is this the best we can do??? Is there no one who is tough and still has a modicum of dignity to fight for us? I believe (and hope) that Ron DeSantis is that person. I appreciate that he has a spine and is tough, in a very matter of fact way. I believe it was DeSantis who said we are electing a president, not an entertainer. I don’t want to be entertained. I just want someone who will do the job and do it right.
Juvenile behavior. Thank you for your service, but now please go away.
Trump brought attention to the updated poll numbers which were even more favorable toward him. The very existence of this article at LI is proof that the tactic worked.
Trump is churish and weak looking doing this. Sad.
Trump has 34 point lead over DsSantis in latest morning consult poll, and leads DeSantis by 50 points on economy, handling China, etc. McEnany turned against Trump after joining Fox News. If all you DeSantis supporters have is crap like this to hang your hat on, then you are doomed to suffer Cruz goes down part deaux
Tell me: if DJT has a yuuge 34 point lead, why does he feel the need to launch ad hominem attacks against people like whats-her-name? Again, why does he think personally trashing whats-her-name will help undecided primary voters support him?
Irrelevant.
THIS^^^^ I”m so over him
Because he gave her the ability to be in the position she is in amd she has , like others, DeSantis, decided to dishonor him
She has many times on Fox spoken Not well of the President and glowing of DeSantis
How many knifes do you want him to take?
He’s fighting for his life, this Country , us!
He didn’t “give” her anything but a job, and while she was in that job, she was a pitbull in his defense. She doesn’t owe him anything more.
He is a man, not a god. Part of the reason I have lost any desire to support Trump is because it deeply concerns me how blindly his followers support his EVERY move. “Dishonor” him? OMG. If he does get the nomination, I will vote for him, of course. But it will not be with any pleasure. Trump is for Trump. But at least he is not Biden.
He is fighting in order to give Joe Biden a second term because he will look like a loser to history if the very first time he was off the ballot Republicans finally won decisively.
He didn’t attack Glenn Youngkin because of the state reason of thinking he was Chinese, he attacked him for the sin of proving that we are a lot stronger with Trump off the stage.
Because the news media wasn’t reporting the more recent and better poll numbers for Trump.
Trump can not win the general. None of these whiny outbursts bring independents to him.
Not what the polls say majority of Republicans (and others) say Trump has far better chance than DeSantis in General. You need to get out of the LI pro DeSantis echo chamber. In 2015 the LI echo chamber was saying how Trump would lose to Cruz.
What a majority of Americans say is voting for Biden over Trump.
Trump just lost in Wisconsin 2023.
Trump lost i n 2022
Trump lost in 2020
Trump lost 2018
A majority of Americans voted against Trump in 2016 but he won because he barely won a set of three states Hillary Clinton neglected (i.e. by not visiting Wisconsin).
If you want to argue because Trump is so popular in Wisconsin….if he was we would have held the governorship and supreme court under his presidency.
Don’t worry, we’ll fix that! And DeSantis would be happy to debate Trump.
People vote for the person they could have a beer with, meaning the person they like. They don’t like the mean stunts Trump pulls, like this.
LOL. So ridiculous and out of touch with reality not worthy of further comment.
I’ll take a beer with President Trump any day
Any day
He doesn’t drink.
“Funny… he doesn’t look Churish…”
/someone had to…
Don!
He demands loyalty but shows none, even to his biggest supporters
Nah, he’s loyal but the people he gave a leg up like DeSantis, Kayleigh, Cortez, not much,
Would I prefer he not be as hurt amd reactive as he is, sure but I’ve not had the entire WORLD 5 eyes trying to destroy me and
My family.. and these people know it
I understand
I take President Trump, warts and all
He is acting like a big stompy foot baby…. Even YOU know it
Are you a Scientologist?
You are forgetting his first primary where he insulted every person who ran against him and their families too. This isn’t because he was mistreated while POTUS this is who he is. These are not warts, they are major personality flaws, and one wonders what would he do if a foreign leader called his bluff and insulted him. Would he try and put us into a war? He has no control over his anger and mouth. His Dirty Harry approach works well with rabbits but there are a couple of monsters out there who aren’t afraid of him.
He’s the only President that kept us out of wars
Geez
Murdering Russian in Syria soldiers without declaring war was a war crime (in addition to being stupidly reckless), and the result of that was a deterioration in relationship with Moscow that was in fact a straight line to the current war in Ukraine.
Trump was also backing the crackdown on Donbass which again straight line from there to the current war.
And he certainly wasn’t loyal to his three wives
For those who remember 50s TV:
(Cue theme music) I Wed Three Wives, the story of Donald Trump, husband and divorcee…
That sounded so authentic that I had to look it up.
It was a 1960 episode of Hawaiian Eye, a 1996 book by a certified polygamist, and (as “I Had Three Wives”) a failed 1985 series introducing Victor Garber and David Faustino (Bud Bundy).
It was a sendup of I Led Three Lives by Herbert Philbrick. It was a short-lived tv show about Our Heroes the FBI.
Nor Stormy!
He wasn’t loyal to any of his three wives. If he cheats and lies to them, he will do the same with the public.
The country is on the brink, and THIS is Trump’s main focus.
It’s time to leave Donald Trump behind.
That’s Trump. Punching in all directions. He will be Biden’s greatest campaign asset.
Yeah, punching in all directions… but mostly just landing blows on his own taint.
He’ll be an asset for any Democrat candidate, and it will go all the way down the ticket. Reverse coat tails.
Not what happened in 2016 or 2020. Trump coat tails were Yuge.
You do know the GoP lost control of the Senate in the 2020 election? Including both seats in Georgia. Trump hasn’t done well in endorsements for Statewide offices. That is what counts b/c that’s how the electoral college works; at the Statewide level.
Per Reagan, IIRC, it isn’t what they know that’s the problem, it’s all the things they know that are wrong.
I went to college and law school at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. This band is from there. “Digging My Grave” best sums up my opinion of Trump at this time. Put your headphones on to truly enjoy it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3stm95v8y-I
McEnany hasn’t struck me as anything great but anyway it’s just media crap and a stink about nothing.
It’s a mean tweet.
Vote for the guy with the Don Rickles sense of humor, is my advice. He’s likely to survive the deep state when he comes up against it again.
That’s also why DeSantis wouldn’t survive if he were President.
On a personal level Trump is fine with everybody. Like Rickles, oddly enough.
If this is how Trump intends to run the primary campaign, by attacking conservatives more viciously than leftists, then I’m not on board in November.
He’s not attacking any conservative principle. He’s getting his poll numbers into the news.
He does, happily, think that abortion is a matter of finding a happy compromise and not hard right to life, which is mistakenly thought to be a conservative position. In any case will be what loses the right the election, Republicans having been stuck with it.
Except it turns out she quoted the most recent poll numbers, not the older ones Trump was desperate to have her cite
Actually, the most recent numbers support what Trump said.
“The latest Morning Consult survey found Trump leading DeSantis by 34 points in the Republican primary race. A majority, 56 percent, support him, compared to 22 percent who support DeSantis.”
Survey conducted May 26-28, 2023, among 3,485 potential Republican primary voters, with an unweighted margin of error of +/-2 percentage points.
https://pro.morningconsult.com/trackers/2024-gop-primary-election-tracker
So you gonna give Biden either a full vote or 1/2 vote. Not too smart.
That’s what we keep telling you Trump “fans” when you declare that you’ll never, ever vote for anybody else. Turnabout may not be smart, but it’s human nature.
Trump isn’t funny anymore.. Desperate, mean, un-selfaware. Unlike Trump . DeSantis is not thin-skinned with attacks. He can and will survive in a way that Trump can only dream of. Underestimate DeSantis at your own peril
I’m hoping that, some time in the future, after a lot more sniping from The Donald, a reporter asks DeSantis about it and he responds, “Donald who? Next question, please.”
Trump doesn’t Tweet. This was written on his *failing Truth Social.
No, Trump is not all right with everyone. I had a mean mom. I don’t willingly choose another. And it gets worse as the person gets older. It’s a lot worse than it was in 2016.
Mean moms are not the best moms. I know from experience. Mean presidents are not the best presidents. Especially when we have such a great alternative, who doesn’t have that flaw.
God it must be fun to work for a backstabbing petty jackass.
Kayleigh?
There are enough of them. Kamala has the reputation, too.
I’m aware of a mostly peaceful protest, but what is this ‘Capitol riot’ of which you speak?
This is a twitterverse issue. If I go down to the truck stop at the end of my road tomorrow morning and listen, then not one person will mention this.
The things you will hear are about the economy and inflation and maybe illegal immigrants. But you won’t hear how Trump is going to solve them. He will not and cannot work with Congress and all of you who think he is going to drain the swamp are dreaming. Congress is the swamp.
Yep. Fully agree. My point is that anybody riled up about this is woefully out of touch with most Trump supporters. This is an internet bubble / political bubble issue.
But, I am pretty black-pilled about our political process and overall government. I don’t think our elections are free or fair and I don’t think anybody can fix our problems in a few years.
All of this is the equivalent of arguing who should be sheriff while the thieves are already in the house.
“But you won’t hear how Trump is going to solve them.”
Baloney.
http://www.donaldjtrump.com/agenda47
IDK, most regular folks don’t like those who bully people. Most of us have bad bosses who acted like toddlers throwing tantrums at some point in our lives.
The other thing with Trump attacking yet another person he selected to work in his administration is how/why he chooses to belittle folks in public. McEnany was incredibly effective as his spokesperson. She lit up the hostile WH press corps on a daily basis and took to the podium to defend her boss even when chose to make dumbass ‘own goal’ errors.
Who is left out the folks who worked for Trump in his administration that he hasn’t gone after? Moreover what does the long list of former staffers/appointed officials he has gone after say about his ability to select personnel? At a certain point many of us look at all these public attacks on former staff and realize that the common denominator in every case is Trump himself.
True. I’m not a Trump acolyte, but I am fairly disgusted with the false concern trolling that is going on. This blog is so obviously in love with DeSantis it is hard to take related news seriously. The same goes for about 6 commenters who are just the flip side of GonzoTx. They don’t care about anything besides more ammunition to shoot at their opponent. This same stuff got said previously and it didn’t matter then, either. See the “good people” hoax and the “Mexicans are all rapists” hoax, the “grab them by the pussy” misrepresentation and so forth. People that hate Trump will do that stuff regardless of truth.
Do I wish Trump wouldn’t run his mouth? You bet. I don’t care for it. Do I think it will matter at all? Nope. Worst case scenario is it gives the uniparty shilling morons an excuse to do nothing as they watch another election get stolen right in front of their faces.
I’m tired of the stupid bickering. I’m tired of the “my guy’s the best and your guy is the worst!” nonsense that seems to drive so many clicks and so much engagement. But it does, so it won’t go away.
Bottom line: Has anybody with Trump’s polling lost a primary, ever?
Off the top of my head on a primary? IDK though considering we ain’t even into the swing of the primary season with folks still projected to announce their candidacy, I wouldn’t worry about the polls just yet. After labor day maybe but more realistically will be Jan/Feb as the first primary elections shape up.
To buttress the point about it being way too early to call the race keep in mind Bush 41 had a 90%+ approval rating about this same time following the Gulf War in Spring/Summer ’91 and still lost to Bill Clinton in ’92.
Fair enough. It feels like election season never stops.
“” I’m tired of the “my guy’s the best and your guy is the worst!” “”
Apparently you’re not in favor of “spirited” debate, and that’s fine, but I’m sure you’re aware that you have other alternatives. As for me, I’d be tickled pink if we all agreed on a candidate, but that’s what the primary process is for, or was, until Trump supporters started demanding a coronation instead. As for me, I do try to keep the vitriol down ( I erase far more comments than I ever post), but I can’t abide lying. BTW, just as you’re “not a Trump acolyte”, I’ve said on numerous occasions that I think it’s a mistake for DeSantis to run this time. Personally, I’m seriously considering Team Vivek. The guy says all the right things and doesn’t go around throwing mud (that I’ve heard – he doesn’t get much air time).
I like much of what Vivek is putting out. IMO he’s realistically the third option behind Trump and DeSantis if one or both should implode along the way.
Agree. From what I’ve heard, I like him better than Haley (whom I cannot abide and wouldn’t vote for dog catcher), Christie, Pence, and the whole growing also ran clown car. I don’t know who I am voting for in the primary (we don’t have ours until March, light years from now in presidential politics), but I do know two people I will never ever cast a primary vote for: Trump and, of course, Haley. Actually, I wouldn’t vote for Christie, either, in a primary. Horrible human being.
I guess I’m not a fan of “spirited debate” within people that have the same objective. It seems to only serve the purpose of splitting the R vote and creating hard feelings. The whole crucible idea seems to not play out.
I’ve always hated the backstabbing nature of politics and think our country would do better rid ourselves of the lot of them.
I agree that team Vivek actually sounds good. I think it’s a shame he won’t get a real chance. The way I see it going is that Trump will win the primary, barring the unforseen (the guy is pretty old). DeSantis seems good to me, but he’s got an awful long row to hoe and it seems unlikely to overcome such a difference. Nobody else has a realistic shot.
Okay, wouldn’t it be something if we all just jumped on team Vivek? I’d have to learn more about him, but honestly, I think that would really shake up the establishment and the deep state in ways not even Trump could do in a second (let’s be honest, lame duck) term. DeSantis stays my governor (much to my delight, since I didn’t want him to run for ’24 anyway) and is young enough to take his shot down the road, and the entire political establishment is stunned and shaken to its core. Something it desperately needs. And we can all be friends again! Hmmm.
The obsession, and how easily people get triggered over mean tweets. Really? Pavlov could not do it better. Good to see such true concern and moral indignation over what matters most! It’s politics. White gloves and kisses only. Next molehill, please.
There’s an eternal need for clickbait on both the right and left media. There’s no way to stop it.
Yes, though some of the most “astute” pundits and supporters are the easiest to bait.
It’s not about “mean tweets”. It’s about leadership and the capacity to hire and keep sane, competent, and conservative staff — “The Best People!” Every time he does this fewer people are willing to work for or with him. I assume you want a competent and effective Presidential administration?
Of course it’s about mean tweets. Look at the criticisms in this thread. You even imply so in your comment.
How do you know that DeSantis would be any more “competent and effective?” Even with the opposition and the churn, Trump had things humming before covid. Funny that no one complained much about leadership when things were going good.
If he is elected again there will be no shortage of people that want to serve, including many of his primary opponents.
Ah yes, I remember the stable cabinet, Mexico paying for the big beautiful wall, Hillary being locked up, the assault on the 2nd Amendment by the Presidency being over, Obamacare being repealed… Thank God we can ignore Trump in 2020 and the consequences that we are still paying heavily for because it didn’t really happen.
Because DeSantis isn’t an asshole and has an excellent record as Governor of Florida.
Do you understand that this is a former POTUS who is 77 years old and he is still acting like a teenager? Mean tweets? Hell, he has no common sense or understanding of what he is doing to his own campaign. I started off the year defending him on many sites but as time moved on, I became sick of his childish ways and behavior. Can he not see that he had a lot of respect from all of us but is slowly destroying it? It shows how deep his hatred is and how thin his skin is.
Mean tweets. It’s as if it’s just a lovefest. Then again, it’s all about our feelings. Got it.
They ain’t tweets as Trump is using Truth Social and not Twitter. Y’all need to figure out a rebranding of your ‘every person who disagrees with Trump does b/c of mean Tweets’ narrative.
Fine. Unpleasant truths. Better than mean tweets, anyways.
That doesn’t roll off the tongue nearly as well as ‘mean tweets’. Many of the posts are unpleasant but some of them ain’t truth.
So. Not tweeting. Socialing? Truthing?
Not up to me to fix the problem Trump has created in refusing to use Twitter and leaving his acolytes unable to use the ‘mean tweets’ excuse.
As good as most of Trump’s policies were, things like this bring back memories of Trump’s missed opportunities to keep his mouth shut. This is not a good look for Trump, McEnaney kicked a** as his press secretary, and I suspect most Trump supporters know it and were impressed with her performance. Trump may have hurt feelings or something now, but attacking her makes him look pathetic. It also brings up THE QUESTION that “trumps” all others – can he win the general election? I suspect 2016 was our last free election, 2020 was clearly stolen and there is little reason to think 2024 and future elections will be any different. But if there is still a chance for a Republican to overcome the margin of cheating and win, it must happen in 2024. If not, the USA is done as a republic, and future elections will only serve as ways to distract the masses from their journey on the road to serfdom.
Trump has enough problems figuring out whether his job applicants are genuine or backstabbers. He doesn’t help himself when genuine prospects look at this sort of behavior and decide they’d be better off never working for such a mercurial ingrate.
I have often thought about that, about people who just want to trip him up. Buttering him with compliments the whole time.
Oh, Donnie! Did that mean girl beat you up again? You just wait there at the country club; Mommy has Rastus on his way in the Maybach to pick you up. And, Beulah is making your favorite for dinner so you feel better. Then, Minnie will tuck you in. Remember, you have an early class at Wharton tomorrow.
From down here, Kayleigh came across as a true professional when she was at the WH.
I don’t see her now as any different. Trump is still the same bully.
What a shame because his policies are what the world needs, but we don’t need a buffoon like him or a dead waste of time like Biden.
With a population the size of the US, how there weren’t two better applicants than those two in 2020 has got the world puzzled.
De Santis does look a lot better than either at this early stage. IMHO.
I think DeSantis has a good chance to beat Trump in the primary, if 4 things happen. DeSantis can grind out a long campaign with a policy and competence message against Biden that people want to hear. As Trump’s poll advantage declines, he gets even more buffoonish.
DeSantis at some point in Trump’s name calling paraphrases Reagan in a 1980 debate with Carter and says, “There he goes again.” Finally, DeSantis 6 week abortion limit in FL is not a deal breaker.
Good analysis and I think there are many who feel the same way. These early polls are absolutely worthless and most have an agenda. I predicted several months ago that Trump would be his own worst enemy and he is proving me right. McEnany was one of his worst mistakes and shows loyalty is only one way with him.
This kind of thing is why I’ve never been a Trump guy. Not just the attacks on his own supporters, but the silly attacks on DeSantis also. Even if the numbers she was quoting were wrong – but, she was right, as usual.
I supported Sen Cruz in the R primaries in ’16 and will likely vote DeSantis this time around.
Trump was a far more effective President than I expected him him to be, so if he’s the nominee I’ll have no qualms about voting for him again in the general.
I am a Trump guy, but he can be his own worst spokesman
Trump is slowly losing my blind support.
Donald could win in the general election if he crossed party lines by cross dressing.
Once again Trump drives woman away. He just can’t help himself. Always the bully, always petty, always takes it too far. The shtick has worn out it’s welcome. If he just stuck to the press and Xiden maybe he had a chance. Not anymore. He hung out the J6 people to rot. He hung out everyone who had to take the Covid shot. He hung out the country by not firing Fraudci. When you take off the rose colored glasses you see him for what he is. A man in love with himself, fighting a war that was finished 2 1/2 years ago.
His own worst enemy.
Trump’s comments were totally unprofessional and uncalled for. If he hopes to win, he needs to tone down the rhetoric and be more respectful. He could have commented on the issue more respectfully and had a much better outcome. Now, he just sounds like a mean-spirted old grump who is disrespectful of those who have supported him in the past.
Question: for those continuing to support Trump here, will you vote for another Republican nominee if it is not Trump?
This lashing out nonsense is losing me. I’d still vote for him if he turns out to be the nominee, but it may be more of a “not-Biden” vote than a “pro-DJT” vote.
It doesn’t matter who the GOP candidate is if we don’t find a way to STOP THE MARXOCRATS FROM STEALING THIS ELECTION, TOO.
An openly divided GOP will make the inevitable Democrat theft of the election much more believable later.
And will further serve them by pitting the right even more against itself.
‘See, we TOLD you that Trump couldn’t win the general’
‘DeSantis voters and nevertrumpers refused to vote for Trump’
‘Trump supporters refused to vote for anyone but their guy’
LISTEN UP
Trump and DeSantis are BOTH great candidates BOTH.
The left and thew RINOs know this. They’re succeeding in making you morons fight EACH OTHER instead of stopping them.
Strategically speaking, going into the primary season as a unified front behind the president who should have been in the white house would have sent a message that could not have been beaten –but you’ve already screwed that pooch.
There are now a bunch of nothings trying to run as well as Trump and DeSantis, so we’re going to have to have a primary season
And it’s ‘have to’ because it’s going to be used to destroy both Trump AND DeSantis –by the whole of the uniparty, from Soros to McConnell.
The RINO wing DOESN’T want Trump OR DeSantis to win. And they are actively working to make sure that neither does.
This asinine infighting helps them.
Stop.
Great advice. Most of us agree. Now get Trump, his acolytes and his most zealous supporters to not only listen to that advice but to put into practice.
Pot, meet kettle, my man. If you think this is one sided you’re either deluded or dishonest.
I don’t have a chosen candidate yet, so I don’t have a side. Counter punching /retaliation isn’t the same as instigating/throwing the first punch.
I would far prefer to have a side by side review of policy proposals about the issues we face today than all the sniping. That said, when I observe a candidate do something I consider to be dumb I will point it out whomever they may be.
Yeah. “Hey, stop responding while I’m criticizing you!”
Of course. The irony is thick with that one.
Yes. Most of US agree.
So why don’t you?
“Now get Trump, his acolytes and his most zealous supporters to not only listen to that advice but to put into practice.”
Stop pitting our side against itself yourself. Fixing this, keeping it from allowing them to win, starts by not doing it.
It’s a primary, so there are going to be choices for everyone, and everyone is going to choose the one they like the best and/or the one they think has the best chance of winning. The unity comes once the nominee is chosen. That is politics, and we go through this pretty much every four years (sometimes eight, if there is no primary due to an incumbent as in 2020).
Barring some catalyst or significant change, the DeSantis people aren’t going to jump on the Trump train, and the Trump people aren’t going to jump on the DeSantis train. That’s just not going to happen because each person on each side has his own reasons for supporting whomever he supports. Shrug. It’s how we do it (and yes, Democrats do it, too, that’s why you saw the Bernie Bros attacking the Hillary shills, PUMA, and etc.).
Yes, the left wants us divided, but so what? That changes whose mind how? I’m certainly not voting for Trump in the primary, period. I don’t care if that is what the left wants or not because I don’t make any decisions based on what they do or don’t want.
Why is it you focus on the person who agrees with you? Is it b/c I dared to point out the fact that the Trump surrogates who post here are in fact zealous and have been reluctant to embrace anyone’s call for objectivity?
Your call for unity seems hollow when you deliberately invoke language about sides in your attempt to admonish me. Shouldn’t you be the first to take your own advice and unilaterally stand down?
I don’t have a chosen candidate in this primary as yet. I will wait until I see more specific policy proposals and evaluate them along with the performance of the candidates with crowds, press and in debates.
As Fuzzy stated this is a competitive primary. It doesn’t have to be mean spirited to be competitive. Before lecturing anyone else about potential low blows start with the folks who have been doing it.
The leftists don’t want either Trump or DeSantis in the WH. I happen to believe they would prefer Trump as the nominee b/c they have beaten him once and think they have a winning playbook. Maybe, maybe not. In my view they were aided by lots of shenanigans that Covid helped mask and that they can’t rely on. What they can rely on is letting Trump drive away a segment of voters which keeps his ceiling at about 48% ish in a general election. Trump is not gonna alter his combative communication style and I doubt his zealous supporters and surrogates will either.
Good luck in your attempts to bring unity during the primary. I will eagerly anticipate you posting in response to everyone who violates your preference for comity.
Every statement by every candidate should be measured by this yardstick: How does this advance the cause to defeat Joe Biden, the Democrats, and the Deep State in 2024? How does this set back the Democrat agenda to pre-1900?
These nasty and gratuitous attacks would seem ill-advised. At this rate he will dissipate all the good will he has left among the voters. Can’t Trump at least be civil? Or is he indeed incapable of controlling himself?
BTW, I voted for him in 2016 and 2020. This year I’m beginning to wonder whether he is electable.
He’s not.
“Can’t Trump at least be civil? Or is he indeed incapable of controlling himself?”
Have you not already seen enough to answer that question?
Hmmm, kinda missed the point. Lets fall in to that trap. The fact McEnany appear to be wrong. Hey look over there, squirrel. Trump opinion does not matter. The facts of her information does.
Trump called her out and now everyone knows that she is spouting false facts. Without him calling out Milquetoast, it would have been another lie live forever. Russia, Russia, Russia.
“Trump called her out and now everyone knows that she is spouting false facts.”
And everyone with common sense, objectivity and a brain knows she was called out by the “father of lies”.
Just one more in a series of statements and actions by a man devoid of all good character, who knows no other route than the low road and tarnishes everyone associated with him like a cancer run wild.
