‘Twas the Day Before Georgia Senate Elections: Trump, Biden Holding Rallies for Candidates
Is Georgia now a swing state? Will Trump’s phone call to the secretary of state have an impact?
Georgia voters hit the polls on Tuesday to elect their U.S. senators. These votes will determine if a party will hold the majority or ends up 50-50.
But could President Donald Trump’s Saturday phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger affect the outcome? The story is definitely clouding over the race as Trump and President-elect Joe Biden head to Georgia to rally voters.
Rallies and Polls
Biden will attend an event at 4:30 p.m. ET in Atlanta for Democratic challengers Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.
Trump will have a rally for Georgia Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue Monday night in Dalton. Vice President Mike Pence will speak at an event in the afternoon.
Polls show a tight race.
FiveThirtyEight has Ossoff ahead of Perdue, 49.3% to 47.9%. Warnock leads Loeffler 49% to 47.6%.
RealClearPolitics compiled the polling data from 12/14 – 12/27. All together it found Warnock leading Loeffler 49.8% to 48%.
That same data showed Ossoff ahead of Perdue, 49.3% to 48.5%.
Is Georgia becoming a swing state?. Some think it will be a blue state. No, it has nothing to do with Stacey Abrams. FiveThirtyEight pointed out that votes for Democrats have crept up since 2008 with President Barack Obama.
The change has to do with Atlanta:
The answer is pretty simple: The Atlanta area turned really blue in the Trump era. Definitions differ about the exact parameters of the Atlanta metropolitan area, but 10 counties1 are part of a governing collaborative called the Atlanta Regional Commission. Almost 4.7 million people live in those 10 counties, or around 45 percent of the state’s population.
Until very recently, the Atlanta area wasn’t a liberal bastion. There was a Democratic bloc that long controlled the government within the city limits of Atlanta and a Republican bloc that once dominated the suburbs and whose rise was chronicled in historian Kevin Kruse’s 2005 book “White Flight: Atlanta and the Making of Modern Conservatism.”
The Phone Call
The Washington Post published the phone call on Sunday. The conversation lasts about an hour with Trump insisting to Raffensperger that there is no way he lost Georgia.
President-elect Joe Biden won the state with 11,779 votes:
Throughout the call, Raffensperger and his office’s general counsel rejected Trump’s assertions, explaining that the president is relying on debunked conspiracy theories and that President-elect Joe Biden’s 11,779-vote victory in Georgia was fair and accurate.
Trump dismissed their arguments.
“The people of Georgia are angry, the people of the country are angry,” he said. “And there’s nothing wrong with saying, you know, that you’ve recalculated.”
Raffensperger responded: “Well, Mr. President, the challenge that you have is, the data you have is wrong.”
At another point, Trump said: “So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.”
He later added: “So what are we going to do here, folks? I only need 11,000 votes. Fellas, I need 11,000 votes. Give me a break.”

Georgia Republican Sen. David Perdue, who is fighting for his political life on Tuesday, does not think the phone call will affect the election. It “shocked” him “that a member of the Republican Party would tape a sitting president and leak it to the media.” From Fox News:
“It’s disgusting in my view,” he said. “But what the president said is exactly what he’s been saying the last few months.”
Perdue said that Trump has been consistent with his claims that there were voter irregularities and said Trump just “wants some answers.”

Perdue pointed out that he has already called on Raffensperger to resign. He said the secretary of state’s office and the state’s legislature both failed to answer Trump’s questions about voter fraud in the state.
Steve Hilton, the host of the show, pointed out that Trump was set to campaign in Georgia on Monday and Perdue said he welcomes the support.
“He’s going to call his faithful out here,” Perdue said. He said that Trump is going to remind voters in Georgia that the future of the country is in their hands.
“The people of Georgia will determine the future direction of the country. He’s going to remind them of that,” he said.

This is not “election day”, the election has been going on for some time, so this is the last day of the election open enrollment season. I don’t think any comments will matter. All of the machinery is in place to make sure the results come out correctly, for the Democrats. Nothing was done to improve the integrity or prosecute the fraudsters from November. Even worse, some are on video and yet there is no action, which sends the signal that there will never be a consequence.

There was fraud on November 3rd, and there will be fraud tomorrow.
I heard a small part of the playback of the call on ABC news.
The first thing that came to my mind was this: “Who hacked the White House phone system?”
Remember that ALL BARRACK CRAP network edited it to distort the facts.
The tools of political prognostication are broken.
Will the results from November tell us whether Georgia is turning blue? I suppose they will—if we can determine the demographics of imaginary voters. Which issues did the nonexistent voters think were most important? Meanwhile, how do we recover information on legal voters whose votes were subtracted?
Are polls able to tell us whether Georgia is turning blue? For years now, most polls have been conducted by no recognizable correct method. Most have been done to push for the desired win by the desired Democrat; should it not materialize, they can be used to make it appear that the other side was the one committing the fraud.
Ossoff and Warnock obviously do not need a majority of the legal votes actually cast. All they need is sufficient fraud to put them past their opponents. The only hope for Perdue and Loeffler is that enough legal votes will be cast on their behalf to exceed that margin, when no one knows how large it is. Maybe some of the modes of fraud will be harder to employ this time around, but there’s no assurance of that.
This notion that Trump will ruin Perdue and Loeffler’s prospects is much loved by many, and it has never made any sense. Fraud won’t be employed against *them*—if he just stops complaining it was used against *him*?
If Ossoff and Warnock win, those not convinced that Georgia is now blue will blame the results on Donald Trump alienating Republican voters and motivating Democratic voters. Neither camp will have any way to know whether their explanations hold water.
Look at the markets today. Professional investors returned from holiday and realized the probability of a D senate has increased significantly so there is a massive selloff. Woke Dems running wild with a semi senile moron in the oval office is not a good outcome for the productive parts of our society.
GA Republicans should be embarrassed by the election havoc they created. Look at FL, twice as many people and they had all the votes counted by midnight on election night. In GA, Dems were pulling suitcases full of ballots out from under tables in the wee hours of the morning after the massive water main break (sarc). I assume we will see a repeat this week with vote counting extended until both Dems have “found” enough votes to win while the Republicans in charge suck their thumbs in the corner.

Personally I am not convinced that any sell off in the stock market is because of fear of a Communist-controlled Senate. It is plain as the noonday sun in the desert that a GOPe-controlled Senate would not even qualify as a speed bump to the excesses of a Biden* administration. Recall that the Clinton and Obama administrations were VERY good to Wall Street fat cats (often with GOPe assistance) while the poor and working people got screwed. There is nothing (so far) to indicate that a Biden* administration would be any different.
What an utter fucking wanker to release the call to the Democrat media. Ah, the phone call. While I think Raffensperger shouldn’t have released it, it’s a lot to ask of him to just sit there and be a punching bag for the sake of the party. He’s clearly the voice of reason and Trump is badly misinformed and not understanding that.
But forget all that. The leftist spin on the call is just utterly bizarre. It reminds me of the equally bizarre way they interpreted Trump’s call to Russia four years ago to release the Wicked Witch of Westchester’s email messages.
Remember that? To anyone who was paying attention it was perfectly obvious what Trump meant. Clinton had deleted all those messages and wiped her server, but everyone considered it very likely that foreign intelligence services, including Russia, had cracked it long ago and still had copies of all those missing message. So it made perfect sense for Trump to half-jokingly call out to Russia to release them. There would have been nothing at all wrong with such a request even if it had been meant 100% seriously, so long as he didn’t offer them anything in return.
But the Democrats with bylines somehow managed to twist it, in their twisted minds, into a call for Russia to break into her server then, even though it no longer existed! And thus as soliciting a crime. It made no sense at all, but it didn’t have to because it was aimed at people who weren’t paying attention and had no idea what Trump was talking about.
The same thing seems to be happening again. It’s perfectly clear what Trump wanted from Raffensperger. He’s convinced that there are tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of fraudulent ballots to be found in Georgia. Raffensperger says we can’t prove the fraud, and Trump says you don’t have to prove it all. Surely out of all those fraudulent votes you can identify at least 12,000! Just find those and the rest won’t matter. If you start with his premise this seems a perfectly reasonable request to make.
But the Democrats with bylines are twisting this into a request that Raffensperger “find” fraudulent votes the same way Democrats usually “find” votes for their side. They know all about that, so they think that’s what he’s asking for. And so they’re calling the call criminal. Again it makes no sense, but it’s aimed at those not paying attention.
The release the docs thing wasn’t the issue was it? I thought it was Trump asking for dirt on Biden in a phone call and withholding military aid to the Ukraine. That was the major issue as i recall.
