More #NY22 Drama: County Discovers 55 Uncounted Early Votes, 44 of Which are Valid
As of right now, Republican challenger Claudia Tenney leads Democratic incumbent Anthony Brindisi by 12 votes.
You honestly did not think New York’s 22nd Congressional District would go without drama before both sides filed more court motions on Wednesday and attend a court session next week, right?
Because of course, it didn’t!
Republican challenger Claudia Tenney is ahead of Democratic incumbent Rep. Anthony Brindisi by 12 votes in the race for New York’s 22nd Congressional District.
That could all change because Chenango County Attorney Alan Gordon told New York State Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte the county’s Board of Elections found 55 uncounted early votes! Officials deemed 44 as valid ballots.
This is particularly interesting because they're early votes, which we don't have independent data for. If they mirror the in-person Election Day voting, should help the Republican @claudiatenney. If they mirror the absentee/affidavit results, will help Democrat @RepBrindisi.

From Syracuse.com:
Chenango County Elections Commissioner Carol Franklin told syracuse.com all of the newly discovered ballots were affidavit ballots submitted during the state’s nine-day early voting period. Franklin said she had no explanation for why the ballots were not counted.
“My guess is they came in early and they were put aside and mislaid,” Gordon told syracuse.com, adding that county election officials did not provide him with any more details. “I would hope that we could open them tomorrow with representatives present from each campaign.”
Gordon asked DelConte for direction on how to proceed. The judge had previously told each of the eight counties in the 22nd Congressional District not to amend the official vote totals submitted to the court on Monday.
Until the 44 ballots are opened, it will not be known which candidate benefits from them. But those ballots should have been among the in-person votes counted on Election Day. Those who voted in-person at the polls overwhelmingly favored Tenney. She led Brindisi by more than 28,000 votes that day. The gap narrowed to 12 votes after absentee and affidavit ballots were counted.
Holy. Moly.
Recap:
November 24: #NY22 candidates separated by only 100 votes because Post-It notes fell off counted contested ballots. Oh, then they couldn’t find the 100 ballots. DelConte said, “We have a serious problem on our hands.”
Before Thanksgiving: Brindisi led Tenney by 13 votes, which were not “official, certified vote counts.” Democrats and Brindisi tried to claim victory.
November 30: Herkimer County discovered “an error in its unofficial vote count.” Tenney got 35 more votes while Brindisi got 10.
Lawyers for Brindisi and Tenney received a delay from DelConte in regards “to file legal documents in the case over disputed ballots.” This happened before the county found the 55 votes.

Guys, they will keep “finding” votes until the Democrat wins. That is the way it works.
There are a bunch in a trunk somewhere.
As soon as the Democrat moves into the lead, the election will be certified. Immediately.
This is known khaleesi
A warmup for Georgia?
Georgia is going to be the donnybrook of all time. At least, so I hope. There is more than an even chance that the GOP preemptively folds. GOP–AKA as the Please Don’t Hit Me Again Party.
A replay of Franken.
So over 20% invalid. Hmmm …
These are affidavit ballots, so 20% invalid is low.
When I lived in Chicago ballots and ballot boxes were routinely “found” in the backs of delivery trucks or in warehouses or in offices or whatnot. And of course, no one was ever punished for violating the chain of custody and security.
Dems will keep on finding ‘missing’ ballots until Brindisi wins, then the national news media will IMMEDIATELY announce the Democrat has won-certification to follow within seconds. It’s what they do. Meanwhile, the GOP leadership will all sit on their hands and smile meekly-then ask Republican voters for donations so the fraud can’t be repeated NEXT TIME.
Next Election-Rinse/Repeat.
” Meanwhile, the GOP leadership will all sit on their hands and smile meekly-then ask Republican voters for donations so the fraud can’t be repeated NEXT TIME.”
Red Team, Blue Team. Same Game.
Well, let’s see. It’s 30 days after the election, one candidate has a lead of 12 votes and and 55 votes are ‘found’. What’s wrong with this picture?
Our election officials risk invalidating thousands of votes that were cast in person, at the polling place on election day to salvage 55 votes that were found 30 days after the election.
There will never be another valid election unless we take control of the voting process. All votes must be cast:
— in person
— with picture ID
— at polling place
— on election day
— on hand marked paper ballot
— counted by hand
All other allowances are simply vectors of fraud. If the votes are not ‘found’ on election day, they are not votes. If ballots leave the physical presence of election officials, they are not votes. No voting by mail, no voting by internet, no voting by telephone.
The only exceptions are those who are serving in the military and those who are physically impaired who may request absentee ballots and vote by mail. These exceptional ballots must be post marked and received by election day. The post office must introduce a new class of mail for ballots that are strictly monitored from source to destination; similar to registered mail.
Let’s take our elections seriously and stop rewarding bad behavior.
Sorry for the down-tick. Biden promised that if he were (s)elected, the comment section would be reconfigured.
My comment is: a new class of postal worker as well. This bit where military people are losing their votes is right out of the question. Blasted union lackeys…!
I have to strongly disagree, there are legitimate reasons for absentee ballots, those people have a right to vote just like any only legitimate voter. There should be limited numbers and for valid reasons.
Take a long haul trucker whose home is in North Carolina but their work has them on the road in Arizona on election day, they deserve the right to vote, an airline pilot based in Dallas is in Europe on election day, you are on a cruise ship crossing the Panama Canal on election day.
I have no issue with early in person voting as well, many small business owners may not be able to shutdown on election day. The modern economy isn’t based on a 8-5 M-F workweek any more.
Asking a voter to sacrifice one day every four years to cast a ballot isn’t asking too much. Compare one day to those in the military who sacrifice months, years and their very lives to keep our elections free.
The point is to keep our elections secure. Voting in-person provides that every ballot is witnessed by several people from interested parties when it is issued, when it is marked, when as it is submitted for counting and when it is counted.
No, there are those who have no choice for whom we might provide some accommodation but providing a convenience at the cost of election security is a bad bargain indeed. It’s better to lose 100,000 votes than it is to lose the entire election process due to fraud.
Voting is very, very important. But not important enough to be inconvenient.
Amazing how 4 weeks out we find just enough votes to put the liberal over the top. How Al Frankian.
Also, how Christine Gregoire-ian.
Those will be just enough for the Dem to win unless they are 99% Biden votes by mistake
Keep harvesting, democrats. You’ll get there.
The dems have made sure we have defective election machinery.
It’s been their holy grail and this is why.
Smoothie King keeps better records of their strawberries than we do of votes.
This is how they do it. They magically “discover” uncounted ballots days and weeks after the election. And they always magically turn the tide for the losing Democrat.
Interesting pattern we see in these contests. The Republican is enjoying a very comfortable lead. Suddenly, absentee, provisional and other irregular ballot types are counted and the Republican lead evaporates. Sometimes a recount magically puts the GOP candidate ahead again, sometime it maintains the now minuscule lead. Suddenly “uncounted” ballots mystically appear in the saddlebags of a wandering unicorn. Invariably, thee votes put the Democrat candidate over the top. What are the odds? Only in America and certain third world countries.
What sort of buffoon handles this? How much of a numbskull does one have to be to lose ballots. Even a donkey would understand how important these are from day one.
They seem to have learned an important lesson from Al Franken because this sort of thing only happens on purpose.
This assumes they’re genuine. If they’re not genuine then it doesn’t matter when they’re ostensibly “from”, they’ll favor Brindisi anyway.
Publicly stripped, publicly flogged and placed into the pillory. Perhaps this 2020 change for election malfeasance or simple incompetence by election officials will result in an adjustment for future behavior.

If they were “FOUND” it means they were previously “LOST”. If they were “LOST” it means the chain of custody was “BROKEN”.
They should NOT be counted.
…keep in mind all mail ballots, both coming and going are completely out of the chain-of-custody twice for each ballot.
Which is why Vote By Mail is and has always been a strategy for fraud and nothing else.
Nope. The claim is that they were in the custody of the board of elections the whole time. The only question is why we should believe this.
Milhouse, you are the resident nit picker–and don’t take that as necessarily a pejorative. Words matter. Nits matter.
Having said that, I have reread the article. I cannot see where the election officials affirmatively state that the have had unbroken chain of custody of these “mislaid” ballots. We are to take on faith that there was no possibility of chain of custody broken.
My rule of thumb is that when they claim incompetence, it is because the truth is far worse.
I don’t see the unequivocal chain of custody assertion.
Kindergarten level activity.
Until the Conservatives take a page from the dem playbook, they will continue to lose. But they lose with grace and dignity.
Why after a couple more years a Republican will never win, oh the night of the election they will be ahead but by next morning the lost, mail or new ballots will always be found.
Someone should go to jail every time votes are “discovered” somewhere they ought not to have been in the first place (i.e. outside of direct observation from being received to being counted).
There is always the obvious explanation: they’re fraudulent ballots.
If I were an analytical laboratory and “found” a sample in an office, I could not open it and analyze it because the chain-of-custody was broken. Similar is mandatory for votes. We have allowed election officials to play slipshod for too long. Send them to jail for stealing the right of 55 citizens to vote. Maybe the next one will be more careful. Prison is wonderful for clarifying the mind.
