Democrat House Leadership condemns Rep. Ihlan Omar’s use of “anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations”

Omar has since “apologized.”

The House Democratic Leadership has finally condemned the latest anti-Semitic language we have seen from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) where she suggested that Republicans only support Israel and condemn anti-Semitism because of money. From Fox News:

“We are and will always be strong supporters of Israel in Congress because we understand that our support is based on shared values and strategic interests. Legitimate criticism of Israel’s policies is protected by the values of free speech and democratic debate that the United States and Israel share. But Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive. We condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately apologize for these hurtful comments.”

The leadership includes Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Majority Whip James Clyburn, Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján, Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries, and Caucus Vice President Katherine Clark.

“As Democrats and as Americans, the entire Congress must be fully engaged in denouncing and rejecting all forms of hatred, racism, prejudice and discrimination wherever they are encountered,” they concluded.

It all started when Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said he planned to punish Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) over their language, similar to the actions Republicans took against their own, Steve King, over remarks that suggested he supported white supremacy.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted that doing so would violate free speech and Omar responded:

Omar has not deleted the tweet nor has she deleted the tweet where she implied Republicans receive money from AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee).

Omar has since “apologized.” Is this really an apology? I don’t think so because she says that AIPAC is a problem and it sounds like a classic “I’m sorry, but…” apology.

And after that apology, Omar tweeted this:

Omar’s tweet drew anger from many on her own side, including Chelsea Clinton.

So now she’s accusing the NRA and the fossil fuel industry of also paying politicians to support them?!

There are many reasons Muslims perform poorly on the world stage.

Low IQ & propensity for irrational rage due to 1400 years of inbreeding.

Wherever they reside, they create shit holes.

Ihlan Omar is most certainly is representative of their innate nature, dumb, arrogant and just plain nasty..

Okay, but what she said is true in general. All lobbyists bribe, and all elected officials take bribes. You can’t get into power in a silly democratic (aka “the mob decides”) system unless you spend an obscene buttload of other people’s money. Ergo, bribes.

The truth is that many, many lobbyists never offer anyone a dime. They often are very skilled, knowledgeable experts in a field that may be abstruse.

Americans like their legislators and bureaucrats to be better informed than not, given the power they have.

Milhouse in reply to SteChatte. | February 12, 2019 at 2:22 am

No, it is not true. Few lobbyists bribe, and few politicians take bribes. Those that do are sometimes caught and punished, but too often get away with it; it is typically those who are caught who make the excuse that “everyone does it”. John McCain is a case in point; he was caught taking bribes and was lucky not to be prosecuted, and for the rest of his career he accused everyone around him of being like him. (Hence the unconstitutoinal “McCain-Feingold Act”.)

Our governent is the most corrupt it has ever been. After 8 years of Odumbo and the likes of boehner and ryan, it is a miracle we have survived. (Thank you President Trump.)

That said, your view is oversimplified.

No other system ours. But no system can prevent suicide by ignorant voters and a corrupt Fourth Estate.

Yeah, they are so mad that there are calls for her resignation immediately!

Oh wait, there aren’t any of those. I guess she didn’t do anything as bad as blackface decades ago.

Also, notice her condemnation of lobbying by greenies like Tom Steyer or by inflators in support of “social safety nets” like the Realtors guilds. Oh yeah, that’s right she didn’t condemn that either.

I don’t think this is an unfair take from me: blah, blah, she’s still on the Foreign Affairs Committee, with a privileged position for debating and condemning foreign aid of any kind to certain countries, in particular Israel.

When is an “apology” not an apology?

For real, here’s the “ABCD” of apology and repentance I was taught:
A: Acknowledge the offense
B: Be sorry
C: Confess your wrongdoing
D: Don’t do it again

Under this simple set of guidelines — understandable by any grade school child — I find that most-if-not-all Leftist “apologies” are … not.

Rep. Omar may have “apologized”, but AT BEST she [A] acknowledges that she made people upset (but not the actual wrongdoing), and [B] is sorry her ideology got her in trouble (but is not sorry for doing it). I am seeing no [C] or [D].

I fully expect she will do it again. And again.

And I expect her fellow Leftists will keep putting out their “condemnations” which also are not; they fall over themselves “condemning” her anti-Semitic tweets, but not her anti-Semitic ideology (which, incidentally, they share 100%).

IOW, they “condemn” her for the same thing she “apologizes” for: getting caught.

Oh, man. Jewish money got to her.

Gotta go. I need to look up the meaning of “unequivocally.”

Seems I’ve been using it incorrectly.

Now I understand. The problem isn’t money in politics. It’s the money that’s going to the wrong side that’s the problem. I’m glad she clarified that for us. Carry on.

Uh-huh….

I’m not holding my breath waiting for to condemn CAIR’s lobbying efforts.

This is just more taqqiah.

I’m sure it was Chelsea Clinton’s tweet that turned the tide. Why, if you haven’t got Chelsea, you haven’t got Clinton Cash, its all about the Benjamins!!!

That clinking sound you hear is a few more scales falling from the eyes of many liberal Jews who are starting to realize what I was criticized for saying over a decade ago, the liberal progressives will turn on you in a heart-beat.

I hope that’s the case, but I fear it will take a lot more to break the knee-jerk habit of voting for Democrats.

So why do American Jews continue to vote for Democrat politicians, who keep stabbing them in the back? 78% voted for Obama the first time, and 69% the second time, even after he had sold out Israel to their enemies.

In 2016, 71% of American Jews voted for Hillary, and only 24% for Trump, who is probably the most pro-Jewish and pro-Israel President in American history. I don’t understand these numbers, given the open antisemitism fully on display in the Democratic party.

Jews generally dispise joe blow whitey – trumps base.

I’m a baby boomer and grew up Jewish in Rhode Island. Antisemitism was easy to find the minute you walked out your front door. “Penney Jew!” (we are supposed to be cheap). “You killed Jesus!” (thanks to a pope or two). And on and on.

It is no wonder that many boomer kids rejected their Jewish roots in order to fly under the radar. We don’t have a telltale sign, like the color of our skin, that betrays our identity. And being quiet is an effective survival mechanism.

Maybe there are other reasons. But by and large the largest population of Jews in America subscribe to Reform Judaism (a less strict branch that has lax Kosher rules and uses less Hebrew in prayer). And Reform Judaism is a Franchise. Just like different Christian sects. To be a member a synagogue pays dues and … gets it’s material and marching orders from the franchise, the URJ (Union of Reform Judaism).

The URJ is extremely liberal and an extension of the Progressive Democrats. They promote alternative lifestyles (okay, to each his/her own, that’s fine), relaxed adherence to the old traditions, and … some pretty controversial crap. Like loving Islam, questioning Israel (on many fronts), and blindly following the latest Social Justice cause-of-the-day.

Self-hating Jews is another topic (and probably closely related to Reform Judaism) – something I never heard of growing up but immediately understood when I first became aware of it. It makes total sense (sort of). People who are born Jewish, possibly Bar or Bat Mitzvah’d, and ultimately becoming anti-Israel and non-practicing. Jews in name (lineage) only.

This is why we have so many libtard Jews. They hate being Jewish or, if they do go to temple, they listen to the crap that is funneled down from the URJ. Anti-Trump and anti-conservative rhetoric every Friday night, mingled with a “we include everyone – Jews, converts, Christian spouses – everyone! So long as you support President Obama, unchecked immigration of Syrian refugees, no immoral wall, …” And yet no one questions the armed guard outside who opens the locked door. Really? REALLY?

It’s a mess.

Voice_of_Reason | February 11, 2019 at 8:38 pm

After realizing that rich Jewish Americans donate waaaaay more to democrat candidates than Muslims contribute, the democrat party denounced the broke-ass muslim congress critter’s anti-Semitic comments.

Sorry she got flack for it, not sorry for doing it. Implicit in a legitimate apology is a promise – or at least a desire – to not commit the offending act again. We’ll see how that holds up for Omar. I doubt she can go a week or two without her true colors showing again.

Apology my ass. No remorse, other than getting caught.

Resign.

Someone with some twitter clout should tweet her asking if she thinks Northam should resign. Bait that trap.
