Kavanaugh Testifies in Front of Senate Judiciary Committee
Ford testified first.
Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, testified all morning in front of the committee. You can view the roundup post for all that information.
Now it’s time for Kavanaugh to launch his defense.
Durbin Tried to Play Gotcha, Falls Flat on His Face
Maybe people should listen to Kavanaugh’s opening statement because he said he is open to ANY kind of investigation.
.@SenatorDurbin to Judge Kavanaugh: "I've got a suggestion for you. Right now, turn to your left in the front row to Don McGahn…Ask him to suspend this hearing and nomination process until the FBI completes its investigation of the charges made by Dr. Ford and others." pic.twitter.com/aUWvib3Mt8

Lindsey Graham EXPLODES
.@LindseyGrahamSC: "You have nothing to apologize for. When you see Sotomayor and Kagan that Lindsey said hello. I voted for them. I would never do to this what you have done to this guy. In is the most unethical sham since I've been in politics." pic.twitter.com/gNC5TJCdGK

Gloves off, Lindsey Graham lays a few haymakers on his Democrat colleagues… "If you wanted an FBI investigation, you could have come to us. What you want to do is destroy this guy's life, hold this seat open and hope you win in 2020. You've said that. Not me." pic.twitter.com/PqeNmZoWgd

Kavanaugh Opening Statement
Kavanaugh begins his opening statement denying the allegations. He is visibly angry. He says he has welcomed any kind of investigation, including the FBI, because it would clear him.
Judge Brett Kavanaugh: "I denied the allegation immediately, categorically and unequivocally. All four people allegedly at the event, including Dr. Ford's longtime friend Ms. Keyser, have said they recall no such event." https://t.co/005BvMqW3Y pic.twitter.com/rHTYdxXhHV

You cannot blame him for being so mad. As he said, these accusations have the potential to ruin his life along with his family.
Judge Brett Kavanaugh: "I was not at the party described by Dr. Ford. This confirmation process has become a national disgrace." https://t.co/005BvMqW3Y pic.twitter.com/qH18Tva983

Kavanaugh reminds everyone that Democrats had already made up their mind to vote against him.
Kavanaugh: "This confirmation process has become a national disgrace." He says the "advise and consent" function of Congress has become "search and destroy." He attacks "the left."
— Daniel Dale (@ddale8) September 27, 2018
Kavanaugh seems absolutely furious, and it's not just directed at Blasey Ford. He says political opponents have proven they will do anything "to blow me up and take me down." He says the behaviour of Democrats on the committee at his last hearing was "embarrassing."

She has imaginary recall. Her imaginary scenario is plus ultra. Prepare for the fireworks with Judge Kav. Maybe even that they played Spin the Bottle.
Ford testified first and Mitchell did a horrendous job.
No details for him to refute. All he can do is deny it. Again. While the Democrats demand he answer 1000 anonymous allegations from Twitter.
Republicans hired Lucy to tee-up the ball when they should’ve hired a screenwriter.
I think she did a great job myself.
I’ve read the conservative reaction to her – and IF the goal is to shove Kavanaugh through confirmation in a “damn the torpedoes – full speed ahead” fashion, she was a mistake and disappointment. Someone, hell nearly anyone, could have flayed Ford. At what cost November though?
Mindful of Romney’s (leaked) remarks during the 2012 campaign concerning that 5-10% (?) wedge of undecideds sandwiched between the die-hard D’s and die-hard R’s, she was potentially a savvy choice to appeal to them – to reasonable women – she is stark contrast to the frothing liberals – and to men watching one of their own sacrificed on the altar of #MeToo #BelieveAllVictims.
Somehow, I can’t imagine anyone with a modicum of ethics, reason, even morals watching this spectacle who come November would vote for more of the same. My spirit is deeply grieved, my stomach is in knots – and my trigger finger will be pulling the lever for every R that I can come 11/6. Beloved wifey and many friends feel the same way. We’re not out protesting or any of that … just have a steely resolve about putting an end to it the best we can come November.
Dems talk about their ‘blue wave’ – I’ve heard of a ‘red tsunami’ … I live on the beach man – and it’s the ‘rip tide’ you gotta worry about – you don’t see them – they just grab hold of you, pull you out to sea and drown you – which metaphorically is what I hope happens to the D’s come November.
Lucille Ball had more brains and ability in her big toe than this whole lot of idiots.
Lucy van Pelt 🙂
But Lucy in the pie factory works too.
If you mean Lucy as in I Love, it was a candy factory.
@Olinser because site on phone has shows no reply function
just curious to here what specific details did Ford even give during her testimony?
that it was 100% Kavanaugh?
that he and Mark Judge were laughing?
because most of her testimony that I’m reading and hearing from soundbites is that she still cannot recall any specifics from that “alleged” encounter
and Ford has no other witnesses vouching on her behalf with those she did name at the party contesting her allegations in sworn statements
She gave absolutely zero details other than the claimed assault. No date (still not even a MONTH), no location, no way how she got there or got home.
This clown show did nothing but let her cry in front of the cameras and claim the same bullshit we’ve been hearing in the media because the Republicans and the questioner they chose were too weak to ask anything of substance.
Kavanaugh can do LITERALLY nothing but say it didn’t happen, because there’s nothing else he can possibly do.
I was mad at Republicans before. Now I just think its pathetic. They’re going to get slaughtered in November. Why the hell would anybody vote for people that just lie down for these disgusting slime tactics.
Your concern trolling is disgusting and pathetic. Be gone.
Mitchell may better serve the Judge. Patience. Mitchell did expose the Dems willingness to politicize this thing to extremes. After all that’s what this fandango is all about. The Judge has to be stopped by other means than qualifications.
Kill it, Judge!
God bless this man
I’d love for him to kill it.
But he has nothing he can do. There’s no details for him to refute, LITERALLY no way for him to prove it didn’t happen, and the Republican cowards are going to sit there and let the Democrats smear him with innuendo and outright lies.
Seriously when LINDSEY GRAHAM is your most vocal defender you’re in trouble.
Kavanaugh has been given the hill to climb, not Ford. The Demon-crats, with collusion for the usual suspects, have manipulated this with skill. Did the Republicans, behind the scenes, decide to put up just enough fight to make it appear good? I would be surprised if such is the case.
The pit in my stomach says his nomination is going to be defeated. Once in awhile, I get it and heartburn confused. I DO hope it’s the case in this matter.
I’m watching righteous anger defended himself and the institutions of this country with honor.
It is a 180 from his TV interview the other night. If he is not found to be more persuasive by fence sitters then we as a nation are screwed. I can’t predict what the fence sitters will do, all I can do is be thankful that he shoving it back in the (D)’s faces.
The Judge came out swinging and rightly so. He will bring righteous passion to the Court.
Watch the Democrats and RINOs specify his lack of judicial temperament as a reason to vote against him.
Hah fucker, he’s going to get confirmed. Begone.
Wow. He is raging.
Not sure it will work but it has to be cathartic.
It won’t. He’s done.
Apparently one of the Republicans actually went up to Ford and THANKED HER FOR BEING THERE.
They really are this stupid and cowardly.
Yes that was the idiot Ben Sasse
Wow, Sasse has stopped pretending to be conservative.
I can’t figure Sasse out, at all. He has an A-grade intellect and a quite impressive knowledge of this country’s history and the Founders, plus, movie-star good looks; yet, he seems totally ashamed to be a Republican.
I don’t know if he intends to move to California and pursue an acting career, or, what, but, it’s almost as if this guy is constantly seeking Leftist and Dumb-o-crat approbation to stroke his ego, like Collins and Murkowksi.
Little Ben has been looking to make a name for himself since arriving in DC, wanting to be a future presidential candidate. He seems to be patterning himself after McCain. Like McCain, he is quite short.
Let’s hold the vote and see who the designated scapegoat will be this time. I assume it will be Flake and Corker, since they can’t be punished (not really true, but whatever).
Let’s have the names of the traitors.
What’s he got to lose at this point? If the nomination doesn’t succeed, he will go back to the the District Court.
not true – his life as a public persona is over unless he runs for office and wins.
his wife and children and parents will be shunned.
After this circus? The Dems almost have to impeach him if they can, and every case he gets assigned will be appealed for bias.
I imagine when you’re that angry and can’t use violence as an outlet (I’d have paid money to see him bitchslap Booker), that anger is going to leak out. I’m glad he called out the democrats, I’m just sorry he didn’t do it by name.
Attack the scheme not Ford. Told ya so.
Oh oh. He’s blown it. Now they are going to say that he is too biased to sit on SCOTUS.
Whose house was it?
Ford avoided saying anything that can be proved or disproved, so Kavanaugh has nothing to refute. The only thing Ford has said that is provable is that she has a phobia of flying and had to drive to the hearing. Thus, the single provable fact she has given was a lie.
Whatever happens I’m proud of him for telling it like it is about the Democrats.
Agree. Unlike the people who control his future, he will not go down without a good, proper, hard fight.
I don’t know how you cannot find his testimony more compelling.
I agree, but it won’t help. Once again, they’ll cite “lack of judicial temperament” as a reason to vote against him.
All the Dems were going to vote against him anyway, they made their decision when Hillary lost.
Oh, no doubt. That may or may not be the case for the RINOs, too. Whichever way they were going to vote, nothing that happened today might change the excuses, but it won’t change any votes.
Guess what the Dems are saying tonight. “Angry”. “Lack of judicial temperament”. etc. Plus, of course, the media is complaining about the Republicans making everything “partisan”. Whoodathunkit?
This is so hard to hear, his voice breaking, speaking about his dad and his calendars
I want these fu€king people to suffer for what they are making this man and his family go through.
Any Republican Senator that does not vote to put this man on the Supreme Court, May they suffer much worse for ever in hell.
The Democrats, Hell will be too good for the likes of their black souls…The
People get the government they deserve. ALWAYS.
If Kavanaugh was betrayed by a bunch of elected cowards, whose fault is that? The people who elected them.
“But…but, I was given a choice between a RINO and a worse Democrat!” people will say.
Yeah, that’s how the GOPe keeps electing these people. Why do you keep falling for it?
“And they go into a room, and I guarantee you, they laugh like hell at what they pulled off on you and on the public.” — President Donald J. Trump
It’s a sad state when the republican party has to be dragged kicking and screaming, ‘no’ to every victory for the American people.
Never Trump? Republicans are more rabid than the democrats. Trade and tariffs? Predict nothing but doom and gloom then don’t have the guts to say, ‘I was wrong’ when Trump schools them. Judge Moore? Kavanaugh? Rush to believe the obviously delusional accusers. Bend over backwards to let lies smears and slander besmirch a decent man.
If it wasn’t for the democrats the republicans wouldn’t have any positions of their own.
I simply cannot watch. This is both a farce and a disgrace. And I absolutely blame the Republicans. They are a group of shallow, spineless, loathsome cowards. Our political process and justice system are being torn to shreds and they sit on the sidelines, waiting to see which way the wind blows in hopes of maximizing their personal gain.
K is doing a better job then anyone else possibly could –
a wonderful performance.
The man is on fire. DiFi is going to burn in hell, and I hope not before too long…
The Judge is speaking to Trash the way Trash should be spoken to: firmly, forcefully and with the Wrath of Justice.
I agree, but the Republicans DESERVE to be spat upon for allowing it to come to this. That poor man. He should NEVER have been put in this position.
Well one thing for certain, if you argue in front of him and see him stick his tongue in his cheek, you are in deep trouble.
He is way too liberal. Send in a right wing killer.
So that’s how you tell folks to go eff themselves without actually telling them to go eff themselves! Nice opening statement from Kavanaugh. The ass burn over this circus is going to last a very long time.
This process doesn’t look like it’s going well. If Democrats manage to even delay this nomination until after the midterms, I wouldn’t count on the best of GOP turnout (which would be yet another victory for Democrats).
And all of it was enabled by the wobbly-kneed weak sister RINOs.
Good job, GOPe. Lookin’ real good there.
Stop and listen to what you are saying. Please!
Right now, I believe that there are enough people pissed off at the Democrats’ tactics to bring on a red wave.
Two years ago, if you gave into a defeatist attitude 40 days out from the elections by jumping off of a cliff because you heard Trump was going to lose and the House and Senate was going Democratic because of a blue wave, you would have not been around to see things turn around.
As for me, I am not going down without a fight. I am PISSED!
I feel the same way. Pissed I’m on the verge of blocking a close family member whom I love dearly for her being complicit in this political smear job.
IF Kavanaugh is confirmed, there will be a red wave. If his confirmation is scuttled by a couple of GOP Senate defectors, there will be a blue wave due to low GOP turnout.
Everything in this fight hinges on the RINOs. It has always hinged on the RINOs.
It is unacceptable to me that the fate of our party should hang on its least dedicated members.
Mitchell is a KILLER!!!
Kavanaugh’s entire opening statement was riveting – hard to watch but just as hard to turn away.
He skewered Feinstein, he’s not flanked by lawyers coaching him on what to say. He doesn’t need help defending himself about an event that never happened.
I wish the (R) party had this fire. I would go into battle with this man.
When those sorry excuses for human beings start asking him about his intimate life … which they will, he should tell them to go fly a kite and not forget to attach the string to their nether regions, and in the case of the women.. to their protrusions!
“Have you no shame.” Hopefully to Harris, but probably Whitehouse or Booker since they go first.
Wow, Just WOW! Glad he’s taken the Committee to task. Hope the Republicans have half as much backbone.
He is putting an affirmative defense.
And the tweets saying he doesn’t have the proper temperment just show me that he was being very effective and they know it.
There’s a difference between saying that he doesn’t have the proper temperament and saying that the members of the committee will use that as an excuse, although that seems to have gone over your head.
It occurs to me that the Democrats need him to be confirmed. If he is not confirmed, then the anger of destroying him over an allegation with no witnesses and no details will create broken glass voters.
Ford’s testimony, so lacking in detail, not remembering anything and everything for him to be able to defend himself. Her cutesy attitude regard her lying about flying and not pretending not to know that they offered to come to her – checking with her lawyer and especially not knowing how she got home made her lose ALL credibility to me.
I hope he is confirmed. But if he is not, the Dems will pay big time in Nov.
If he is NOT confirmed, the Dems can continue to fund raise off this and expect at lease a few beer-drinking men to vote for them in Nov.
It’s already created broken glass voters.
And the Democrat side, her testimony, isn’t going over well with deplorable women. Because they’re all married to MEN who could be destroyed by similar lying, and many have SONS who could be destroyed by similar lying.
oops…I meant to say if Kavanaugh IS confirmed then the Dems can continue to fund raise off this and men voters will not be as upset with the Democrats and be as fired up to vote against the Dems.
I should never post before proofing 🙁
I think this is a good example of if you’re going to lose to go down swinging. I hope he continues to fight back against the Dem Senators.
Watching this hearing has made me pleased and proud of Judge Kavanaugh, and I’m furious that the Dems have put him through this hell of a smear campaign. Any Republicans who don’t vote for him should be skewered in their next primaries.
Assuming Kavanaugh is confirmed, he will be a strong supporter of due process and the rights of the accused. The Dems will complain that he is biased against them, but he’s not actually biased. He is painfully aware of their deceitful and destructive tactics, and I hope he will take those tactics into account in his judicial decisions.
The only problem here is that two of the wafflers, Flake and Corker, aren’t going to run for office, so they don’t care.
Too bad he did not go after the people (Gillibrand) that want to ditch the American principle of presumed innocence for all accusations, criminal and otherwise.
Every time the Dems mention the FBI it re-affirms they have nothing.
Calling Senator Schumer, Senator Schumer, hello?
Eagerly waiting to see if the smug Senators Booker, Durkin, Hirono, Blumenthal, Whitehouse, Coons, and Lahey (sp) step up with questions. This has been a breath of fresh air
LMAO – I love that he’s fighting back against that smug Leahy.
I want Kavanaugh on the bench for no reason other than his putting Leahy in his place. He is not taking his shit. I want to see more of that from witnesses in the future.
Durbin back to the FBI – again means they have nothing.
Durbin came across as a massive douche in that line of questioning there. Basically completely admitted that the entire point was to delay quite clearly.
Lindsey Graham is making up for many of his antics with John McCain.
Lindsey Graham’s speech was the not-to-miss moment in the travesty of justice that occurred today. When Judge Kaavanaugh gets confirmed, I will send Graham’s office a Thank You note.
https://twitter.com/GMA/status/1045416197393502208
Graham is an optimistic person who is hoping to have civility and willing to believe that many Dems want it too. I think since Gorsuch, and even more here his eyes have been opened.
I should add because he was so moderate in the past, his reaction here is that much more powerful.
I never have anything nice to say about Graham but today, that was awesome. And the best part is that he meant every word of it. He’s as angry at the Republicans as he is at the Dems. He really let his long-time friend Feinstein have it with both barrels. Good for him.
Go Lindsey
These Democrats are the lowest type of slime that have ever been elected to office.
I’ve never seen a witness mock Senators. This is priceless.
FBI – FBI – FBI – FBI
AKA “Why don’t you just give up?”
This is such BS…I’m angry and want to see all of these senators thrown out for a new batch. The few that took a stand can stay for today, even Graham but he’s on thin ice from past behavior.
I think it’s over they are now trying to make him out a boozer.
Buncha Bozo Clowns to me.
Somehow Senator Doofus has behaved sort of seriously. Just questions about the yearbook, which were serious.
How dare Brett joke around in his yearbook!
This is gaslight on steroids, FFS…
My cynical mand as to ask. hy is his High Scool behavior 30 yars ago the question.
When that cretin asked about vomiting, I wish he had answered, “No, how about you”?
If we want to talk about liars….let’s start with the Dem Senators that claim they need facts to “decide”….they decided months ago. So their entire premise is BS.
No one is going to ask him to take a polygraph. You know why?
They know the FBI has already administered one and asked about sex.
I wish Grassley would replace his gavel with an airhorn.
THen shut down anyone who says FBI.
Couple of things. The Republican’s inquisitor, Ms. Mitchell, had to handle the reluctant witness, Dr. Christine Ford, with kid gloves. It’s what we were taught in law school about handling a “delicate” witness. She was crying enough already, it would have been worse optics had Mitchell grilled her into uncontrollable sobs. Mitchell got enough for Grassley to point out Ford’s inconsistencies. In my opinion, Mitchell did what she could under the circumstances.
We all know what this is, there is no use in trying to defend a Democratic smear campaign to keep an originalist off the Supreme Court. This is political theater, not a court of law. Still, I don’t have any hope of this working out in the short run.
Side point: Two freakin questions on a polygraph test that somebody else paid for? It doesn’t matter. People are going to believe what they are predisposed to believe, and cowards like Flake, Murkowski and Collins will always take the line of least resistance. May all the Republican traitors and weaklings, along with the Democrat opportunists burn in eternal hell for smearing and trying to destroy a decent man.
It seems as though Mitchell had a thankless job. Elicit facts and possible contradictory information, while avoiding being overly aggressive and interrogation-like. Sounds as though she did as well as could realistically be asked, under the circumstances.
+infinity there.
Ford had an ejection seat that no male in her position could use in case the questioning got too intense. All she needed to do was burst into tears and flee the room, and the unanimous press would declare 24/7 how cruel and vicious the Republican monsters were.
Well I guess Sasse isn’t on the fence any more.
How do you mean?
After Graham, there are no more fence sitters.
But, does that assessment extend to Collins, Murkowski, Flake and Corker? The four Stooges.
I’ll admit — I am pessimistic. It’s difficult for me to envision Collins and Murkowski voting for Judge K. They are utterly capricious and easily-duped. And, until I am provided with information to the contrary, my assumption is that the Dumbs have succeeded in creating sufficient noise and histrionics — however transparently contrived and slanderous in origin — to give the Stooges sufficient “cover” and justification to claim to be “uncomfortable” to vote for Judge K., given the “cloud” surrounding him, or, some other similarly-phrased equivocation and backsliding.
They need some more convincing:
202-224-3121
As a woman and mother of boys, I support Kavanaugh.
This could be your brother, son, husband, father targeted.
Just do it!
https://www.gofundme.com/support-brett-kavanaugh
Dems trying to make it as if he was attacking Ford when really he was attacking them.
Liberals can be just stupid and ill educated. Renate Alumnus is Latin, which I took in high school and likely Kavanaugh also did or heard the word in church. I recognized it was Latin instantly, and had a vague remembrance of the usage.
Renate (renati in English), means newly born or born anew (often by implication in a new environment). He was saying he is a newly created alumnus.
No. It is not a dirty word, creepy Senator Dullard.
Kamala Harris was supposed to have been an in-the-courtroom lawyer for 6 years. That’s supposed to be a trial lawyer.
Nah, she was a political whore at SFDA, too.
Now VOTE. Enough of this stuff.
I can’t watch this stuff, and, I haven’t been. Too damn depressing and demoralizing. I’m reading some comments, here, and, on other websites.
What are folks’ assessments? Judge K. seems to have evinced — quite fairly — righteous indignation at the allegations and the sadistic Hell that he and his family have been through.
So, will this suffice to get the GOP caucus in line? Or, are the Dumb-o-crats’ noise and histrionics sufficient to sway the four Stooges (Collins, Murkowski, Corker and Flake)?
sorry – downvoted you by mistake (not intentional)
likely not
I suspect Collins, Murkowski, and Flake to be no votes
Collins might be the only one of the 3 listed to vote for confirm but I think 2 more R’s get peeled off regardless
Flake gave a quick 1 min talk about “doubt” and didn’t ask the Judge any questions
Every stand-up Republican in Congress should be hounding those cowards. They should know that, should they vote no, they will be ostracized, never have a decent committee assignment, and will have offices smaller than the janitor’s closet. They should be harangued and shamed. Period.
Sen. Flake doesn’t care. He’s toast at the end of this Congress anyway because he didn’t run for re-election. But he didn’t want to be remembered in the company of “Jumpin Jim Jeffords” by actually switching parties (and risking getting primaried and DEFEATED).
He’s a Never-Trumper, and as such is pre-disposed to putting a Thumb in the eye of the Conservatives. I think he actually DOES feel bad that Kavanaugh is having to endure this farce, but IF he does not vote to confirm, I think he will be secretly happy that he’s denied a Conservative voice on the Court.
Now, I’ve stated MY opinion elsewhere: Kavanaugh gets defeated, and McConnell IMMEDIATELY puts the Senate into recess and Trump appoints a person to the Supreme Court. No ifs, ands, or buts. Either APPOINT Kavanaugh (and make the Liberals HOWL in shock, and get up to two good years out of him) while the Committee considers Amy Coney Barrett for the position, or separately appoint Amy Coney Barrett directly, and have the committee hearings WHILE she’s sitting on the Court.
Whatever Flake does afterwards he is still going to need his political contacts. My understanding is that Bush is lobbying heavily in the background for Kavanaugh.
Murkowski depends on McConnel for her seniority, since she is technically not a Republican. She really doesn’t want to piss him off.
I think Collins has been solidly behind him since these accusations began.
Thanks. I appreciate your assessment. Always interested in what other Americans think about this completely insane Salem Witch-Hunt and Stalinist show trial.
Confirmation or not, I think conservative Americans have learned a pretty sobering lesson, about the depths to which the Dumb-o-crats are willing to sink to achieve political power and deny it to the opposition.
We need to engage in some rumination about how to proceed. It’s clear that past efforts at extending goodwill and comity by reaching cross the aisle have been utterly non-reciprocated by the Dumb-o-crats. We play nice, and, they kick us in the privates, for our efforts. Only a masochist and dupe would continue doing this, going forward.
Guy Jones, for my part, we should adopt their tactics 100%. They want Sherman’s March to the Sea, give it to them, good and hard.
I’m leaning in that direction, as well. Civility has gotten us nowhere. We try to make nice, and, the Dumbs perpetually and unabashedly fight dirty, with no regrets and no apologies. I hate to descend into the sewer, with them, but, there may not be an alternative.
My quick sum. Get back to Judge and ask him if he worked at Safeway. If he says no then game over.
One thing to keep in mind, she is claiming PTSD and PTSD does affect memories. Especially the memories around the trauma.
She’s a liar
She’s Borderline
Her memories are effected by the payola…
Can’t believe ANYONE with ANY common sense would not see through this charade
well the fact she had to admit she did not pay for her polygraph test and had lawyers in contact with Feinstein for weeks prior to the initial Kavanaugh hearings speaks volumes of any political motivation or leaning
even if believe Dr. Ford was just a dupe (which I don’t)
this was not some on the spur moment decision of hers
it was a calculated political move to delay the vote
simple as that
Flake will vote no, but I believe Manchin May very well vote yes , or he will have the rath of Trump, who will personally campaign against him every freaking day till the elections
He may very well set up shop right next to his house!
Corker, don’t trust eithet
Corker said he would vote to confirm, but I don’t trust him or any of them not to pull a McCain with a thumbs down at high noon. I think Flake will flake and who knows what Collins will do, though I am now guessing she will vote to confirm. We could see one or possibly two red-state Dems vote yes…whatever number it takes to confirm.
I am cautiously optimistic he will be confirmed. One reason I think that is because the Dems are well aware their victory will be pyrrhic with them being consumed by the fire at the mid-terms.
Well, so they’ve had their nice little ChiCom style show trial, and now they can finish hanging him.
Kavanaugh begins his opening statement denying the allegations. He is visibly angry.
Good! As I wrote in the thread on Clarence Thomas’ appearance before the Committee, the proper response to this is Righteous Indignation. Don’t be polite, don’t be patient: show outright the indignity of the Senators actions of the Democrat Party.
I am THRILLED that Judge Kavanaugh has FIRE and is putting the Socialist Senators in their place. His denials have been forceful, and he’s not taking any crap from the Socialists, actively calling them out on their Bull Crap. The ONLY thing that could have so far made his responses better would have been to end his opening statement with something like John Dryden’s poem in “Absalom and Achitophel:”
Must I at length the Sword of Justice draw?
Oh curst Effects of necessary Law!
How ill my Fear they by my Mercy scan,
Beware the Fury of a Patient Man.
and then to say “Senators, I have been VERY patient while waiting to appear here and defend my good name against these baseless, craven claims that have attacked my reputation.”
At the end of this, if Collins and Murkowski DON’T vote to confirm, they should be EXPELLED from the Republican party. If they don’t vote to confirm, and the Republicans lose the Majority in the Senate, Mitch McConnell should spend EVERY WAKING MINUTE of the ENTIRE (short) time he will have left as Majority Leader punishing them.

The female prosecutor respectfully took her apart with a smile; establishing that the “fear” or “inability” was a contrived act designed to delay and undercut her sincerity and veracity.
