Democrats Turn on John McCain After His Vote to Open Debate Health Care Bill
Accuse McCain of single-handedly sentencing millions to death
The entire country needs a lesson in parliamentary procedure.
As I blogged yesterday, Senate Republicans, with the assist of Vice President Pence finally cobbled together enough votes to pass a motion to proceed (MTP), which simply allowed for debate on proposed Republican health care reform.
To watch Democrats, progressives, and everyone under the impression that health insurance saves lives, John McCain was single-handedly responsible for killing off some 22 million people. Never mind the other 50 votes or the that Sen. McCain already said he’d support a MTP. And let’s not even bother considering the CBO estimates of health insurance losses are due to an inordinate amount of people choosing to abstain from purchasing health insurance once the individual mandate ceases to be. In any case, in the minds of many, McCain became a veritable killing machine.

I get that his schtick is over dramatizing news, but it might actually be funny if it were remotely accurate.

McCain became a target because he recently suffered the misfortune of a brain cancer diagnosis. Why would he want to debate legislation?! (Not like it’s his job or anything…) Shouldn’t he know the value of health insurance?! Sen. McCain might be a lot of things and he has a penchant for drawing fire from both sides of the aisle, but the ignorant backlash he received for a routine vote on a MTP is almost comical.

I am perplexed why Senator McCain thinks people listening to conservative news is keeping them from doing their jobs as Senators. John, that is simply embarrassing.
1st of all, McCain did more than vote for the Motion to Proceed. He made a speech in which he said he wouldn’t vote for the bill because it stunk and then he voted for it!
So he flew all the way across country, despite his illness, to support a bill he said was bad.
Besides I remember when Tim Johnson had a stroke in 2006. Had he not returned, the majority would have switched to the republicans. Boy did republican partisans put up a stink about how unfair it was for him not to resign. Seems kind of hypocritical – dontcha think? BTW, Johnson returned in 2007 and was even reelected.
As for giving a lesson in Parliamentary Procedure, you may have missed that the bill was ruled to not be a ‘Reconciliation’. So the democrats could have filibustered. Passage would have required 60 votes.
As for the democrats going hyperbolic, WHO GOES MORE HYPERBOLIC, MORE OFTEN, THAN DONALD J. TRUMP? Nobody. He even had to go hyperbolic about Hillary Clinton while giving a speech to the Boy Scouts!

For the most part Obama was cool. Go look at how he dismantled Trump’s birther BS. As for the top 5 Obama rants – Trump rants 5 times a day. But I am willing to leave that as opinion.
The point was that republicans got all upset when Tim Johnson had a stroke and held his seat. Actually, he returned to the Senate and even won reelection. I am afraid this was McCain’s last hurrah and an ignominious one at that.
I still wonder how McCain stomachs Trump when McCain went through years of torture and Trump got 5 deferments.

Stay with me here. Barack Obama refused to do what every single American does multiple times during his life; produce a certified birth certificate. Then, when the “WH” produces one, it is shown to be, almost beyond ANY doubt, to be a forgery. Add in the lack of hospital birth records, the discrepancies with his social security number and his selective service registration the lack of any documentation to show that he reinstated his citizenship, and his reluctance to produce any college transcripts and other school records and one has to ask, what gives? Why the secrecy? Does a true birth certificate actually exist? If so, why was it never produced? Nearly everyone born in this country can produce, and has, a birth certificate, hospital records of their birth [if they were born in a hospital], baptismal certificates [if their parents belonged to a Christian church at the time of their birth], school records, college records, and many other records. None of which BO ever produced. IF DT had refused to provide such information, the press would hound him to his grave.
So, exactly how did BO dismantle any “birther bs”? Barack Obama has never proven that he was born in this country. He has never proven that he reinstated his citizenship upon his return to this country. In fact, as everyone who “knew” him when he was a child is dead, there is no one to confirm his identity. So, exactly who is Barack Hussein Obama?
I am sure that if you got your hands on my birth certificate you would find a reason to claim it was a forgery. Of course the US government doesn’t agree because they issue me a passport.

Hey, you can’t have it both ways/ The BC is either a forgery or not. The easiest way to prove it is genuine is to have the State of Hawaii produce a copy. But, BO didn’t do that. If your birth certificate appeared to be altered or forged, then you would probably be required to produce one directly from a recognized state agency.
I notice that you simply ignored all of the other strange things surrounding the records of Barack Obama/Barry Sowetoro. So, I have no idea how you would explain all of that.
As to DT’s tax returns, why should he have to produce those? People scream about pre-employment background checks, and those do not include producing tax returns. How would you feel if you had to produce a tax return for a job? Besides, tax returns do not show any illegal activity or under the table income. Politicians don’t mind producing theirs, because questionable sources of income either do not show up on them or are listed as “speaking”, “appearance” and other innocuous fees. So, this is pretty much deflection, on our part.
Worst case we have just replace one grifter with another grifter. In the case of the latter, the are endless witnesses that have Trump lie, cheat and steal his whole career. Just ask the investors, partners and contractors that Trump screwed. Look at the promises he made and broke.
You want to believe that Obama wasn’t born here. Feel free. Something tells me that you can recite chapter and verse on any loony right-wing talking point. Meanwhile Obama is gone and a man who can’t even keep his story straight for a sentence and whose concept of loyalty is a one way street is in the WH.

Thank you for the correction except that an arteriovenous malformations is a hemorrhagic stroke. If wish to contest this point further, take it up with The American Stroke Association or WebMD. Unfortunately I had to learn about strokes because I had a loved one had one.

What you seized on is irrelevant. The article was a complaint about the democratic reaction to McCain coming back because without his vote the latest feeble attempt to prolong the agony of the republicans shooting themselves in the foot and not having health insurance for treatment would have ended.

My read is that having returned from the dead to cast what he expected to be a meaningless vote, McCain is now pissed that Rand Paul voted for it thus forcing Pence to cast the deciding vote. Pence could only vote one way.
McCain wanted the “repeal” effort to die so that ObamaCare would still be the law of the land. But he believed he could get the benefit of having voted for “repeal” in a lost cause. Paul forced it to Pence. Now the Dems are pissed at McCain because he is the one who failed to close the circled wagons. THAT is why they are pissed at him and not the other Republicans who voted for it.
Trump won that round of the chess match thanks to Rand Paul.

I was just listening to Mark Levin and had to turn it off. He is treating today’s vote defeating Rand Paul’s “clean” repeal bill as a total capitulation by the Republicans to the Democrats and that single payer is now guaranteed.
I’ve been very busy all day and catching snippets of what was going on. I apparently missed something. I thought the MTP passed with Pence’s vote? Isn’t that all that was supposed to happen? Isn’t that what McCain is upset about? He prevailed over the Rand Paul bill when the Shifty Seven, including McCain, defected to the Dems. I’m confused. Where do we stand? Good or bad?
We didn’t get a repeal, but we didn’t get saddled with owning it. The base will be furious and look to primary the GOP incumbents, but the GOP establishment will ensure that there are either as few challengers as possible or as many as possible.
Like his friend John Kerry, he voted [procedurally] for repeal before he voted against it when it mattered!
