TAMPA, Fla. – As of 4 pm ET, March 2, six U.S. service members have been killed in action. U.S. forces recently recovered the remains of two previously unaccounted for service members from a facility that was struck during Iran’s initial attacks in the region.
Major combat operations continue. The identities of the fallen are being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on X that a fourth U.S. service member died after being seriously injured during Iran’s initial counterattack.
“As of 7:30 am ET, March 2, four U.S. service members have been killed in action,” according to the post. “The fourth service member, who was seriously wounded during Iran’s initial attacks, eventually succumbed to their injuries.”
The government did not identify the four service members. We will know their identities 24 hours after officials notify their next of kin.

Iran immediately fired back after the U.S. and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury, which killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
CENTCOM did not release the location of the attack.
On Sunday morning, CENTCOM announced that three service members perished in the attack and five service members suffered major wounds.
Several other members “sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions.”
