Iran’s Ex-President Ahmadinejad, Who Wanted to ‘Wipe Israel Off the Map,’ Killed in IDF Strike

Former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who repeatedly called for Israel to be “wiped off the map,” has finally been killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Ahmadinejad, Iran’s president from 2005 until 2013, was likely killed in the first wave of Israeli strikes on Saturday morning that successfully eliminated Iranian dictator Ayatullah Khamenei.

“Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the former president of Iran, was killed in US and Israeli strikes on Tehran,” The Daily Telegraph reported. “The area surrounding the Narmak neighbourhood, where Ahmadinejad had been living since leaving office, was struck multiple times during the first day of attacks, which also killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military commanders.”

Shortly after taking office in 2005, Ahmadinejad called Israel a “tumor” that needed to be “wiped off the map. “Soon this stain of disgrace will be cleaned from the garment of the world of Islam, and this is attainable,” he declared, referring to Israel.
As president, he pushed forward with the nuclear weapons program and boasted that Israel would not dare to attack his rogue nuke sites.
Not just Israel, the U.S.-led capitalism too will “soon join history in the future,” he once declared.
In his speeches, he repeatedly referred to the U.S. as the “Great Satan” and the “devil incarnate.” He even claimed that “the arrogant regime in the United States is the biggest obstacle against the cause of the prophets.”
In 2017, Columbia University invited Ahmadinejad, the foremost antisemite and Holocaust denier of the day. He gave a speech and drew applause from a sympathetic audience. Media coverage from that time noted that “a large number of Ahmadinejad sympathizers were present, as his speech was often interrupted by applause.”
“Iran will not be damaged with foreign bombs,” Ahmadinejad famously declared while he attended the UN assembly in New York. With Khamenei and Iran’s entire terrorist leadership under the rubble, those words sound truly ironic.

Iranian presidents never have power. They have no control over the military or foreign policy. They are relegated to domestic policies and must first clear all decisions with the supreme leader. They keep them around to have a handy scapegoat when things are bad on the domestic front.
