Virginia Grand Jury Refuses to Indict Letitia James

This was the second rejection in a week as the DOJ tries to revive its mortgage fraud case against James.

A grand jury in Alexandria, VA, refused to indict New York Attorney General Letitia James for alleged mortgage fraud.

The DOJ wants to revive its mortgage fraud case against James, which a judge dismissed last month after disqualifying the interim U.S. attorney.

The DOJ attempted to indict James last week, but the grand jury in Norfolk, VA, did not.

In October, a Virginia grand jury indicted James on two counts:

In April, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) referred James to the DOJ for alleged mortgage fraud.

“Based on media reports, Ms. Letitia James has, in multiple instances falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government backed assistance and loans and more favorable loan terms,” wrote Bill Pulte, director of FHFA, to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Pulte added: “This has potentially included 1) falsifying residence status for a Norfolk, Virginia-based home in order to secure a lower mortgage rate and 2) misrepresenting property descriptions to meet stringent requirements for government backed loans and government assistance.”

In mid-August 2023, James allegedly gave someone power of attorney to establish the Virginia property as her “principal residence.”

At the end of the month, James purchased the property through her attorney.

“In a Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Form 3047 and in mortgage documents, she reaffirmed this would be her primary residence, despite being a statewide public office holder in the state of New York at that same time and primarily residing in New York,” explained Pulte.

In my best Gomer Pyle accent….
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise.

Looks like some people are above the law. This country is toast.

Q: Why did the Grand Jury fail to indict Letitia?

A: Because she’s all ham and no sandwich.

This is ridiculous

Absolutely ridiculous

The left can do whatever to whoever they want and NEVER face consequences

Nothing will happen here either

OK is more woke than you can imagine…

The grand jury already indicted in that case. So unless the feds drop the charges it is going to trial, barring a plea deal.

The bigger issue is who was the DOJ attorney presenting to the grand jury? You can bet it was a woke “ deep state” attorney. If they won’t charge Letitia James, then no one should fear lying about their mortgage submissions. If they are charged with the same crimes their attorney need only refer to this case.

If a jury won’t indict, they certainly won’t convict.

Can they n0t bring it before grand juries in OTHER JURISDICTIONS? After all, the properties were in different states. Try a different jurisdiction!

That was my thought as well. Didn’t the fraud happen near Virginia Beach? If so, convene a grand jury there.

It happened in Norfolk where they tried it. It’s a city with many inherent advantages with only a few inherent problems. Still, the powers that be have turned it into a big failure by policy and general idiocy.

I live about 45 mins away and know it well. Norfolk and Portsmouth are another fine example of squandered resources by progressives.

“Based on media reports, Ms. Letitia James has, in multiple instances falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government backed assistance and loans and more favorable loan terms,”

I have to wonder. Is that statement really true. If it were true, it seems it would be incredibly easy to prove to anyone. Even a grand jury. But they couldn’t prove it. Twice. Maybe it’s not true.

Maybe the reports are wrong.

They couldn’t prove it, or they couldn’t prove she wasn’t a Democrat?

The fear is that Blue juries will not tolerate law being applied to their own.

Democrats are above the law.

Wait, in the original indictment it was very clear that she had claimed the property as a second residence, not her primary one.

You may have seen people claiming that Trump is a hypocrite in pursuing this, because he himself bought two properties, stating under oath that each of them would be his primary residence, but never lived in either one. Therefore how can the administration go after James and not Trump?

One little detail seems to have escaped these people’s attention: Both properties were immediately adjacent to Mar-a-Lago, which is Trump’s primary residence. In buying them he merely expanded his property. They are each part of his primary residence, just not the parts he sleeps in. So it seems to me that both statements were true.

I’m just as interested in the NY AG harboring a fugitive from justice in her house.

“Alexandria, VA,” says it all. As “blue” an area as Arlington, VA and Fairfax, VA — unfortunately.

Packing the courts has its privileges.

And they want to do it to the SCOTUS.

This reminds me of Joe Crow justice when the Klan persuaded the jury to make “the right decision.”
