Virginia Democrats Bring in Obama to Endorse Embattled Abigail Spanberger

“Oh my, it must be way too close for Democrats’ comfort.”

Democrats in Virginia must be worried about Abigail Spanberger’s chances in the governor’s race, because they’ve brought out the big guns. Obama recently posted a video of himself endorsing Spanberger.

Since the debate, Republican Winsome Earle-Sears has closed the polling gap. The controversial and violent comments of Spanberger’s fellow Democrat Jay Jones also hurt their party’s chances.

It’s important to note that Obama’s words didn’t do much for Kamala Harris in 2024.

NBC News in Washington reports:

Obama endorses Abigail Spanberger in Virginia’s race for governor

Former President Barack Obama is endorsing Democratic former Rep. Abigail Spanberger in the Virginia governor’s race and starring in two new digital ads for her campaign.

“Virginia’s elections are some of the most important in the country this year,” Obama says in both ads, shared first with NBC News, which focus on the economy and abortion rights. He also says in both ads, “Every vote counts.”

Virginia is one of two states, along with New Jersey, holding governor’s races this year. One year after the 2024 election, both races will be closely watched as indicators of how voters are responding to President Donald Trump and where the political winds are blowing ahead of the 2026 midterms elections.

Trump has not yet stepped into the race with his own endorsement. Spanberger is running against Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.

See below:

If elected, Winsome Sears would be the first black woman governor of Virginia. You would think something like that would be important to Barack Obama, but Sears is a Republican so she doesn’t count, apparently.

It’s also surprising to see Obama throwing his political capital around. If Spanberger comes up short, Obama will have endorsed another loser. At what point does his endorsement become worthless?

This strategy worked great for Harris.

The annointed one speaks.

Not a good look when they bring in someone they consider their ace relief pitcher.

Apparently they’re forgetting that the Ds lost something like 1,000 legislative seats (federal and state) when he was POTUS.

The more this guy talks, the more people grow to dislike him, until only his sycophants will remain.

“At what point does his endorsement become worthless?”

What time is it?

Biden’s became not just worthless, but a veritable albatross that candidates were running from.

In retaliation, Trump should endorse Mayor Wu, right before her next primary. Call her a “principled and effective opposition voice,” or words to that effect… not just tarring her, but making Democrats realize subliminally that she has been neither.

Big guns?

Do you remember the cartoon gun that had a little flag that said “BANG!” on it when fired?

That’s Obama.

He’s the kiss of death to a candidate. Can anyone remember his endorsement actually carrying someone over the finish line?

Certainly didn’t help Harris.

Whatever contempt you have for ol’ Barry Soetoro isn’t enough by half.

The left support for political violence is starting to turn off independents I think

Maybe Earle-Sears can get the Larry Sinclair endorsement.

Why hasn’t the Big Guy endorsed Spanberger? I’m sure Hunter could make it happen if she agreed to purchase some of Hunter’s artwork.

Obama attempt to shame “the brothers” into voting for this shrew incoming.

As if he has anything in common with these men.

That may be enough to finish her off.

His endorsement of 2021 VA Gov candidate McAulliffe didn’t exactly help.

His endorsement of 2021 VA Gov candidate McAuliffe didn’t exactly help.

There used to be the tradition that former presidents didn’t get involved in politics because that could create the appearance of a shadow presidency?

Obama trying to be shadow president for dems?

I’m not sure Obama’s endorsement has ever made the difference in a race.

Wow, that’s when you know those body blows are landing and really hitting the mark. They’re adopting the “Hail Mary” strategy
