Taxpayer Fury: LAPD Quits Harris Protection

The Los Angeles Police Department has discontinued its temporary security detail for former Vice President Kamala Harris, ending days of controversy over pulling officers from crime suppression duties to guard her Brentwood home.
The arrangement began last week after President Trump revoked Harris’s Secret Service protection, which Joe Biden had quietly extended until 2026 in one of his final acts in office. By law, former vice presidents receive just six months of protection, a period that expired in July. Trump canceled Biden’s carve-out, forcing California agencies to scramble.
LAPD Metropolitan Division officers were assigned to assist the California Highway Patrol in providing security for Harris. A Fox 11 helicopter even captured uniformed LAPD officers stationed outside her Los Angeles residence earlier this week. But by Saturday morning, that coverage was pulled back.
The move came after mounting criticism from within the ranks. The Los Angeles Police Protective League, which represents rank-and-file officers, blasted the use of city resources.
“Pulling police officers from protecting everyday Angelenos to protect a failed presidential candidate who also happens to be a multi-millionaire… and who can easily afford to pay for her own security, is nuts,” its board of directors said.
The statement continued, “Mayor Karen Bass should tell Governor Newsom that if he wants to curry favor with Ms. Harris and her donor base, then he should open up his own wallet because LA taxpayers should not be footing the bill for this ridiculousness.”
Mayor Bass defended the arrangement, saying it was always intended to be temporary: “I thank LAPD for protecting former VP Harris and always prioritizing the safety of all Angelenos.”
This isn’t the first time LAPD resources have been used for Harris. During her time as a U.S. senator, plainclothes LAPD officers were assigned to her security from 2017 to 2018 before then-Chief Michel Moore ended the detail, citing a new threat assessment.
The latest flap comes just weeks before Harris embarks on a 15-stop international book tour for her memoir 107 Days, with events scheduled in Los Angeles, New York, and Toronto. While the Secret Service recently found “no credible threat” to Harris, California taxpayers may still be on the hook if state agencies continue footing the bill for Biden’s secret extension.

What will probably happen is that she’ll be mobbed by admirers when she goes shopping on Rodeo Drive. Nobody is going to take a swing at her. She’s no more than an insect.
It does not take the Great Kreskin to predict that it is likely that a faked attack on Harris will be made by the Left to make the President look bad for following the law [which says the VP only gets 6 months protection after leaving office].

Selective fury at best. When there’s not enough genuine fury to go around you either use it selectively or manufacture it when needed.

Ghost-writing a stupid book about her embarrassing loss to #47 — despite having the huge advantages of incumbency, fawning/obsequious/water-carrying Dhimmi-crat media organs and $1.5-plus billion dollars in fundraising — underscores this crone’s malignant narcissism.
The loss was partly, the biggest part, her fault and also others. Instead of covering up Biden’s senility until it was too late the money people and the DNC should have right out of the gate told him they were not going to support him. They should also have told Harris she was the worst politician in recent American History and would not support her run picking someone viable like Shapiro from PA. The DNC had two problems, though. They were afraid to throw Joe out because not picking the VP as a candidate would have been seen as racist and picking Shapiro, while the smart move, would have angered the nuts in their base. Fecklessness will often force a bad decision on you at the end of the day.
She should never have gotten special treatment in the first place. Who wants to bet she ordered up the protection detail herself and signed it with the autopen?
As much money as she made in those 4 years, she can pay for her own security. She’s no more of a celebrity than any other actor on the stage! She’s a private citizen, now, too.
