Shots Fired at ABC Affiliate Building in Sacramento Day After Jimmy Kimmel Protest

A protester carried a sign that read: “Trump=America’s Hitler, ABC=fascist enabler, Kimmel=truth teller.” So, we can draw our own conclusions about the shooter’s motive.

At least three shots were fired into the KXTV/ABC 10 building, an ABC News affiliate in Sacramento, California, during a drive-by shooting on Friday afternoon. The Sacramento Police Department was notified shortly after 1:30 local time. Although the building was occupied, no one was injured.

ABC World News Tonight reported that a vehicle pulled up to the building, “an occupant opened fire, striking the lobby window. The vehicle then took off.”

According to the SPD, responding officers “observed three bullet holes” in one of the lobby windows.

Speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon, SPD Public Information Officer Anthony Gamble said, “I don’t know if this was targeted or if this was a random act. But what I could tell you is our detectives are on the scene and they’re going to be conducting follow up while we’re going to try to figure who is responsible for this.”

Shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday, the SPD announced the arrest of a suspect. Anibal Hernandez-Santana, 64, of Sacramento, faces charges of “assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied building, and negligent discharge of a firearm.”

Although the circumstances appear clear, police say the motive remains under investigation.

On Wednesday, ABC, Disney, and primary affiliate Nexstar each moved to pull Jimmy Kimmel’s show over his lies to viewers about Charlie Kirk’s assassin — a decision that was widely applauded by conservatives. After the alleged shooter was revealed to be a leftist with a live-in partner transitioning from male to female, Kimmel told his audience:

We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.

A remark by Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr during an appearance on Benny Johnson’s YouTube show — saying, “we can do this the easy way or the hard way” — has led some observers, including Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, to wonder whether Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended because ABC, Disney, and Nexstar felt pressured.

As we know, the backlash from the Left over Carr’s comment has been fierce. On Thursday, a protest over ABC’s suspension of Kimmel’s show occurred outside this building. The Sacramento Bee shows a photo of a protester carrying a sign that said: “Trump=America’s Hitler, ABC=fascist enabler, Kimmel=truth teller.”

So, we can draw our own conclusions about the shooter’s motive.

Update: Saturday 3:40 p.m.

The suspect is “a former teacher’s union legislative director whose X feed is full of far-left rhetoric encouraging escalation.”

I can’t figure out the difference between violence from the Left and violence from Islam… help me out.

      Red-Green alliance at the moment.

      However,,,,

I think Islam commits violence only for Islam but the left being the stupid ignorance clueless simps they are commit violence for both.

To state that the motive is “unclear” in a story like this means in translation: “The motive is perfectly clear, but we’d just rather not say”

Ted Cruz is absolutely correct even if some of the people on the right won’t agree with it.

There is a regulation against broadcasting purposefully wrong information about a crime. Why shouldn’t it be enforced?

Blackacre in reply to Crawford. | September 20, 2025 at 3:05 pm

Good question. I knew of the regulation, but had not read it until last night. While subpart (a)(1) is easily satisfied here (particularly in light of the information previously detailed in the indictment), it is doubtful that all of the other conditions are met.

      § 73.1217 Broadcast hoaxes.
      (a) No licensee or permittee of any broadcast station shall broadcast false information concerning a crime or a catastrophe if:

      (1) The licensee knows this information is false;

      (2) It is foreseeable that broadcast of the information will cause substantial public harm, and

      (3) Broadcast of the information does in fact directly cause substantial public harm.

      (b) Any programming accompanied by a disclaimer will be presumed not to pose foreseeable harm if the disclaimer clearly characterizes the program as a fiction and is presented in a way that is reasonable under the circumstances.

      (c) For purposes of this rule, “public harm” must begin immediately, and cause direct and actual damage to property or to the health or safety of the general public, or diversion of law enforcement or other public health and safety authorities from their duties. The public harm will be deemed foreseeable if the licensee could expect with a significant degree of certainty that public harm would occur. A “crime” is any act or omission that makes the offender subject to criminal punishment by law. A “catastrophe” is a disaster or imminent disaster involving violent or sudden event affecting the public.

Late night tv is entertainment and not news so they can get a pass. Of course they dont lead off with a disclosure and they probably should,

the View however is produced by ABC news department so it shouldn’t get a pass.

Milhouse in reply to Crawford. | September 21, 2025 at 7:50 am

Why shouldn’t it be enforced? Because without the strict limits that Blackacre lists, it would be an offense against the first amendment. Those strict limits are all that saves it.

Absolutely? The economic and decency sides have no merit? If undue pressure is applied, then it may be different. After all, the other side has actually done what Cruz is saying, when those silenced were at the top, not bottom of the ladder. And did it in secret. When principles collide, one must win the day. Carr is responsible to police the public airwaves, and entitled to speak out against clear violations. Even if this never happened it’s predictable that Democrats would resume their abuses because that is how they roll. So Cruz may be correct, but not absolutely. The other side is not interested in playing by his rules.

About as correct as yelling fire in a crowded theater.

Which is dicta from a disgusting and thoroughly repudiated decision. You may as well quote from Dredd Scott. No part of Schenck is valid law, so citing it just shows that the person doing so doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Perhaps correct to point out the potential long term risks but it mist be said that the wokiesta leftists haven’t been at all shy in engaging in all of overreach or refrained from using the power of govt from putting their thumb on the scale. It isn’t as if what Carr said is gonna ‘awaken’ the d/prog to the idea of trying to suppress speech they don’t like, they routinely engaged it under Biden.

Except THEY ALREADY DID THAT, so the argument is moot.

“It might feel good right now to threaten Jimmy Kimmel, but when it is used to silence every conservative in America, we will regret it.”

Ted, this isn’t tat — it’s tit. That train has flown.

The government shouldn’t censor, but a little tit-for-tat is fine with me until we get a clear ruling on what speech is permitted and what constitutes public interest over the public airways

Cruz has really watered his brand down lately. I wonder what the NSA dug up on him.

I used to live just up the street from there — like 60 years ago. Even then, not a great neighborhood.

The “mostly peaceful” violence continues.

Is it just me, or is it really difficult to feel any pity for ABC? They happily broadcast lies for years and now it’s biting them in the ass. I think they call that consequences.

henrybowman in reply to Ironclaw. | September 20, 2025 at 4:39 pm

“ABC = fascist enabler” indeed. All those nazis running Disney World!

If only Trump can find a way to perform moar of this political jiu-jitsu, the kind that makes the loony left physically attack the complicit left.

I can’t believe Cruz is talking about our precious norms after all the left has done the last 15 years.

It amazes me that the anti gun LEFT sure uses guns a lot!

henrybowman in reply to natdj. | September 20, 2025 at 4:41 pm

It almost makes me want to be an accelerationist, to retain the advantage before they learn how to actually hit stuff with them. In that regard, Charlie Kirk was a tragic outlier.

    midge.hammer in reply to natdj. | September 22, 2025 at 10:59 am

They’re not anti-gun. They’re anti-freedom. Specifically, they realize fully that your freedom to keep and bear arms is their biggest obstacle to appropriating your life for their own designs.

Now that Trump’s designated Antifa, he needs to designate NEA and AFT.
