Why the Left Loves Criminals

During the past couple of decades, formerly fringe radical ideologies have displaced moderate “leftist” beliefs in our politics and mainstream culture. Previously, such ideologies had been largely reserved for ivory-tower intellectuals who considered anti-Americanism fashionable and morally superior.

The decreasing support for the Democrat Party should come as no surprise, given its radical positions on subjects such as crime and transgenderism. American leftists often side with the most depraved criminals and blame instead society and the victims. The reasons for this absurd position run deeper than Trump-derangement syndrome. They are related to Marxist, progressive, and socialist ideology, which views history as a power struggle between victims and oppressors.

Those who are successful, talented, and support traditional Western values are branded as oppressors, and those who are unsuccessful and hate the West are portrayed as victims of an unjust world order that must be torn down. Radical leftists do not believe in personal responsibility and free will. They believe in biological and social determinism. To them, a criminal is someone who was simply dealt a bad hand due to some chemical imbalance in the brain, racism, the patriarchy, or poverty. Hence, a crime for the Left is either a matter of illness or a reaction against social injustice.

Moreover, crime helps destroy an oppressive society that radicals wish to abolish at any cost. It is no coincidence that soon after the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, or later, following the Red Army’s takeover of Eastern Europe, the most violent criminals were freed from prison so they could assist the communists in establishing power.

The leftists’ reaction to recent murders by illegal aliens, Luigi Mangione’s assassination of Brian Thompson, or the unspeakable tragedy in the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis illustrates their radical ideology, which is bordering on insanity. The mask is off, and their all-pervading contempt for Judeo-Christian and American values is painfully obvious.

In the case of transgender violence, the problem is compounded by a combination of medical interventions that lead to severe physical and psychological consequences and ideological indoctrination that teaches confused minors to hate traditional society and resort to violent means. It is part and parcel of wokeism, and some transgenderism ideologues proudly announce that “trans liberation” necessitates a “communist revolution.”

Abigail Shrier, who wrote one of the most authoritative and compassionate studies on the issue of transgenderism, remarks that due to social contagion and peer pressure, gender dysphoria — an extremely rare condition, which in nearly 70% of cases resolves on its own — has become increasingly popular in the past decade:

Until just a few years ago, gender dysphoria — severe discomfort in one’s biological sex — was vanishingly rare. It was typically found in less than .01 percent of the population, emerged in early childhood, and afflicted males almost exclusively.

But today whole groups of female friends in colleges, high schools, and even middle schools across the country are coming out as “transgender.” These are girls who had never experienced any discomfort in their biological sex until they heard a coming-out story from a speaker at a school assembly or discovered the internet community of trans “influencers.”

Unsuspecting parents are awakening to find their daughters in thrall to hip trans YouTube stars and “gender-affirming” educators and therapists who push life-changing interventions on young girls — including medically unnecessary double mastectomies and puberty blockers that can cause permanent infertility.

Ben Shapiro points out that the Annunciation Catholic School shooting is a symptom of an institutional problem in our country that must be urgently addressed:

If you listen to the media, the shooter was a woman. The headline from the New York Times … read “Minneapolis suspect knew her target, but motive is a mystery.” The amount of Orwellian doublespeak here is insane. Respect the killer’s preferred pronouns but pretend that the “motive is a mystery.” We know exactly what the motive was, because it is spelled out in all of the journals and the YouTube videos and on the guns themselves.

This is not a gigantic “mystery wrapped in an enigma.” This is the media trying to cover up the reality of the situation in which a mentally ill person was not given proper treatment and was told that his delusions were a reflection of the evil patriarchy and a terrible traditional society….

And the consequences were murder.

This implicates our institutions. It implicates our schools. It implicates our medical institutions. It implicates state legislatures.

The American Medical Association has been promoting exactly the kind of fake medicine that leads to the abandonment of people who are truly psychologically suffering. That fake medicine which masquerades as empathy is not, in fact, medicine.

It is, in fact, an ideologically driven crusade to pretend that men and women are identical and can switch bodies at will. And it is a lie…. This is not a fringe thing happening at a few schools. It is happening at public schools across the country.

This social contagion, which leaves only tragedy in its wake, both for those it rebels against and those it claims to help, must be categorically rejected by any moral and sane person, regardless of political affiliation. The institutions and individuals responsible for perpetuating criminal lies and performing treatments and procedures that violate the most basic medical principle of “doing no harm” should face lawful punishment.
