NY Times Lovingly Defends Rioters Flying Mexican Flags

But bashed Martha Alito’s Patriotic Displays

As the mainstream media continues to gaslight over the “mostly peaceful” Los Angeles riots, we turn to the New York Times, which on Wednesday rushed to the defense of Mexican flag-waving rioters who President Donald Trump and others in the administration have referred to as “insurrectionists.”

The Times, it seems, wanted us to know that the flags from other countries, including Mexico, which have been on display since the start of the riots, were not an example of anti-Americanism and attempted occupation but instead pride in heritage:

This week, those who kept waving them said that it was important to honor their heritage and not acquiesce to Mr. Trump, even while they recognized the potential political cost. They said that the flag to them was not un-American, that it represented their Chicano roots rather than a national allegiance.

And hey, how is this really different from any other day in Southern California, they insinuated:

But protesters said this week that they see the Mexican flag as a symbol of defiance against Mr. Trump’s immigration policies or of solidarity with other Mexican Americans. The flag has become so ubiquitous in recent decades that it is a part of the Southern California landscape, adorning pickup trucks and flapping from bridges. Few mass gatherings occur in the region without a Mexican flag or two, from weekend soccer matches to Los Angeles Dodgers championship parades.

Strangely, when it came to displays of American patriotism and pride in heritage by conservative Justice Samuel Alito’s wife, Martha-Ann, the New York Times sang a much different tune, penning multiple hit pieces in May 2024 on Mrs. Alito’s flag-waving practices to try to tie her to the events of January 6th, 2021:

They even called in purported “judicial experts” to claim that because the upside-down U.S. flag and the “Appeal to Heaven” flag were allegedly Jan. 6th symbols, their being flown at the Alito homes meant Justice Alito was ethically compromised and should recuse himself from J6-related cases:

Judicial experts said in interviews that the flag was a clear violation of ethics rules, which seek to avoid even the appearance of bias, and could sow doubt about Justice Alito’s impartiality in cases related to the election and the Capitol riot.

[…]

The revelation about that flag prompted concerns from legal scholars and ethicists, and calls from dozens of Democratic lawmakers that the justice recuse himself from cases related to Jan. 6.

As always, there is a method to the mainstream press’ madness, with the Times (and other media outlets) undoubtedly expressing solidarity with the Mexican flag-waving LA rioters not just because they agree with them on the issue of illegal immigration and hating America but also because this is an issue that is currently helping President Trump in the polls:

As usual, when Democrats and their paid professional agitators are in disarray, the media swoop in to try and save the day. It’s like clockwork with these people, and is one more on a long list of examples of why you don’t hate them enough.

Conquers display their flags.

    CommoChief in reply to 2smartforlibs. | June 13, 2025 at 8:52 am

Indeed they do but during the conflict/strife of that attempted conquest, the armies march with them proudly displayed to identify and differentiate themselves from the forces of their opponents as well as to declare their allegiances in unmistakable terms. Flags ain’t PR props, they serve to communicate a very clear public message for all to see.

When you let an invasion army take over it would be unusual if they didn’t fly their flag.

Can we start burning Mexican flags now?

    Askin’ for a friend.

China approves of Mexicans displaying flags made in China.

The NYT never knows when it will need Carlos Slim to bail them out again.

The media: Viral images of violent foreign invaders waving their foreign flag as they riot.

Also the media: They’re just mostly peaceful immigrants displaying pride in their heritage.

You may think you hate journalisming, but you don’t hate it enough.

Patriotic displays are crap except in ball games.

    Stuff yourself.

You may try to write it off as sentimentalism, but there’s no getting around the fact that flags are hugely symbolic. When they wave the Mexican rag around or burn the Stars and Stripes at riots, they are sending a clear message, and the objects they use in these acts are not coincidental.

Oh come now….Xi must enjoy knowing that you worship him while holding his picture with one hand….

Geez oh flip…the NY Times would have 4000 reporters on the coast of Normandy if the D-Day invasion were to happen today, and bitch like sissies for getting wounded.

Media has absolutely flipped their wigs.

No, if the NY Times had 4000 reporters anywhere near Normandy on D-Day; they would have organized them into a Liebstandarte and would be defending the German troops.

NY Times would have organized a force of 4,000 “stringers” from the ranks of Nazi Party officials and their close relatives.

The New York Times is right, the Mexican flag does represent an act of defiance for the rioters.

That’s why it must be put down quickly, aggressively and with extreme prejudice.

You can not let them do this.
There must be consequences.

they want to plays nice with their conquistadors

who ironically WERE THE ONES TO ACTUALLY ENSLAVE THE MEXICANS

but the nytimes know they are safe with “us” and in the event that the takeover..or should I say complete takeover happens soon…the nytimes can buy time with showing how they were on the side of the mexicans

same things they do in the schools for the past 60 years

coddle the criminals ..when they arent f ..n them

Here’s a win/win. We patriots can burn hemp Mexican flags. We can gloat while subduing the rioters who will greedily
Inhale the fumes and fall into a slumber.

Let’s get serious. Our very sovereignty is under attack by a hostile foreign power (Mexico), with the help of an internal Fifth Column. Yet our president provides only a timid response. How would an aggressive president act? He would invoke the Insurrection Act and send troops to California with instructions to shoot looters and rioters. He would arrest the California governor and LA mayor. Newspaper editors supporting the insurrection/invasion would also find themselves in federal custody. All this has precedent. We used to shoot looters. Eisenhower and Kennedy sent troops to integrate southern schools. Lincoln went much further to quell a rebellion. What about the judges? The leading edge of the Fifth Column trying to destroy America. The are the worst and deserve the most extreme response. Arrest any judge supporting the Fifth Column.

As a new resident of Texas, I have skin in this game. Austin is our LA. Austin is as blue as Berkeley and full of traitors. I know this from personal experience having lived just outside Berkeley for many years.

We are at a crossroads and Trump can’t seem to act aggressively. He should threaten Mexico with invasion for supporting the insurrection. We fought a war with Mexico and they lost. When countries lose wars they lose territory. That’s the way of the world. Now Mexico wants Reconquista with the help of America’s current Fifth Column. They need to get slapped down hard.

At what point does law enforcement become the duty of the citizens?

alaskabob in reply to scooterjay. | June 13, 2025 at 11:55 am

When elected instruments of government choose to protect and promote non-citizens over citizens…..which means now past that point….. Oh…sorry…in LA the illegals are their citizens.

JRaeL in reply to scooterjay. | June 13, 2025 at 1:44 pm

It has always been a duty of citizens. Not necessarily an obligatory duty but certainly one that presents itself and can be taken on by citizens. Law enforcement does not begin with an arrest and end with a conviction. Citizens report crimes. We take measures to prevent them. We serve on juries. We testify as witnesses. We participate in that system.

And when necessary we remember that the police do not have a “duty of care” towards us and our loved ones and take action to protect ourselves and respond accordingly; even to the point of taking up arms in defense.

henrybowman in reply to JRaeL. | June 13, 2025 at 6:13 pm

“Citizens report crimes. We take measures to prevent them. We serve on juries. We testify as witnesses. We participate in that system.”

We do all this to help our officials decline to arrest, prosecute, and imprison.

When we smarten up, we will do different things.

As Mark Steyn noted: waving the Mexican flag on the streets of LA – while the city is being burned and law enforcement is being assaulted – is something a conquering army would do.

Does this mean the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia is once again a symbol of heritage? Asking for a friend.

Would it be justified self defense when you shoot rioters throwing rocks at police? It’s so tempting!

henrybowman in reply to ConradCA. | June 13, 2025 at 6:16 pm

Whyever would you put your freedom and your net worth on the line for people who would throw you into the hole indefinitely for defending yourself when they deliberately fail to defend you?
