Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp Not Running for Senate in 2026
Kemp is probably the best chance to unseat current Democratic Sen. Joe Ossoff, who will finish his first term in 2026.

Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp announced on X that he will not run for the Senate in 2026:
Over the last few weeks, I have had many conversations with friends, supporters, and leaders across the country who encouraged me to run for the US Senate in 2026. I greatly appreciate their support and prayers for our family.
After those discussions, I have decided that being on the ballot next year is not the right decision for me and my family.
I spoke with President Trump and Senate leadership earlier today and expressed my commitment to work alongside them to ensure we have a strong Republican nominee who can win next November, and ultimately be a conservative voice in the US Senate who will put hardworking Georgians first.
I am confident we will be united in that important effort, and I look forward to electing the next generation of leaders up and down the ballot here in the Peach State who will keep our state and nation headed in the right direction in 2026 and beyond.

Pity.
In other words, he had no support from Trump or the rest of us to drag another useless RINO across the finish line so he could screw us at every turn.
Kemp refused to endorse or help Walker in 2022 when it was a very close and winnable race. Why would we help him now?
Kemp made his choice in 2022, he can enjoy the consequences.
I don’t know where you live, but it’s not Georgia. No idea why you believe Kemp didn’t endorse Walker. He did. He even offered Walker access to his GOTV operation and – more importantly – he didn’t waiver from his support of Walker even after information came to light that Walker paid for an abortion of a former lover. After beating the stuffing out of Stacey Abrams, Kemp even campaigned with Walker in the runoff election.
Walker ran one of the worst campaigns in the history of campaigns. He was a TERRIBLE candidate. His own son told people to vote for Warnock. That was a winnable race. But, just not by Walker, who ran an unbelievably 200K+ votes behind Kemp on the same ballot. There were several high-quality primary candidates who were bigfooted out of the race (chose not to run even though some already had already formed exploratory committees) by Trump’s unusually early endorsement of Walker. That Senate seat loss is on Trump (and Walker), not Kemp.
Kemp gave Georgia to the cabal that placed Biden in the White House and forced the whole country to endure 4 years of a false president.
AFTER Trump stood up for him when Abrams pulled her idiot stunt.
Good riddance.
He would be a younger and healthier McConnell
No thanks
Kemp it totally uninterested in the obvious voter fraud going on in GA during that last few elections and could care less about Fat Fanni and Stacey “The Buffet Slayer” who are as corrupt as the day is long. The Senate may have been within reach but another backstabbing RINO of the Murkowsky/Collins ilk are not what we need.
Better an 80/20 or even 70/30 GoP squish than a 90/10 100/0 d/prog. That said I really believe Georgia can elect a more reliable center/right Senator statewide. The same can’t be said for Maine, Sen Collins is about as center/right as can win Statewide in Maine. Primary targets should be Cornyn TX and Lankford in OK both way, way less center/right than their State’s voters. Either or both could be primaried and their replacement have a good opportunity to win the general election. Hopefully Ken Paxton can do just that in TX and it will set an example for other GoP Senators out of step in Red States.
Yes. I’ve said for years. Collins is the only one that gets a pass because she’s legitimately the best we could hope for from a state like Maine.
There’s ZERO reason we need to suffer Murkowski, Cornyn, Lankford, or Graham (Romney is gone after just 1 term because even the Mormons couldn’t stand him anymore).
Agreed. Our focus for demanding Senators not be ‘squishy’ should be on those from solid Red States who for some reason manage to drop the ball in DC.
I’d probably add Thom Tillis of NC to the list b/c even for a purple/swing State he veers off on too many issues; amnesty w path to Citizenship, red flag laws being more prominent among others. Dude got less votes in ’20 than Biden in NC and way less than Trump who won NC in ’20. His underperformance seems to show he could move to the right on those and still win.
Ahhh.. Republicans. Always willing to snatch defeat from the hands of victory by requiring ideological purity. They are so like the democrats in this. It’s sad.
Buzz on X is that he may be thinking about 2028. I didn’t make that up, and I don’t like it at all.
Well that’s interesting. However he is largely unknown outside of Georgia and that won’t change much if he doesn’t hold any office at all. The smart move would be to get elected Senator and then get on tv alot to get his name out there. He should pick a red meat issue to champion like clean elections and beat it to death,
Just say what you mean people which is
“I am too much of a child to accept an election result from 4 years ago. I have no evidence of fraud or cheating but I am a giant child. I have decided to blame a man on the right who is highly successful in Georgia and would rather have a progressive democrat”.
Because you want to hand the Democrats a Georgia senate seat tell me what god damned blue state do you think is about to send a Republican senator?
Come on let us know.
Inform us from the depths of wisdom you hold which senate race the Democrats are giving up?
