Texas AG Ken Paxton Will Challenge Sen. John Cornyn in 2026

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced on Laura Ingraham’s show that he will challenge Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) in 2026.

Paxton said:

I’m running for US Senate against John Cornyn, who apparently is running again for his fifth term, which would put him in there three decades. It’s definitely time for a change.

In Texas, we have another great US senator Ted Cruz.

And it’s time we have another great senator that will actually stand up and fight for Republican values, fight for the values of the people of Texas, and also support Donald Trump in the areas that he’s focused on in a very significant way and that’s what I plan on doing and I hope that people will go to my website and look at what we’re doing at KenPaxton.com and obviously contribute as well.

Cornyn joined the Senate in 2002. He served as Texas attorney general from 1999 to 2002.

Axios reported that Paxton chose Nick Maddux, the man behind his 2022 campaign, to run his primary campaign.

Axiom consultant Sam Cooper will “lead an outside effort to elect Paxton.”
