Georgia Democrat Sen. Jon Osoff Raises $11 Million in First Quarter

It’s likely the most a Senate incumbent has raised in any first quarter.

Georgia Democrat Sen. Jon Osoff raised $11 million in the first quarter, probably the most any Senate incumbent has raised in a first quarter.

The money will go toward his 2026 race.

From Politico:

Ossoff’s campaign said the haul is the most ever raised by an incumbent in the first quarter of an off-year. POLITICO was unable to identify any Senate campaign that had raised more in an equivalent quarter.

“I’m grateful to the hundreds of thousands of record-shattering supporters who have already joined what will be the biggest and most relentless turnout effort in Georgia history,” the 38-year-old first-term senator said in a statement.

According to the campaign, Ossoff’s average donation during the quarter was $32, coming from 260,000 individual donors and over 155,000 first-time donors. Donations came in from 156 of the state’s 159 counties.

But will it matter?

Politico notes that the $11 million will likely only be “a drop in the bucket” regarding spending.

Georgia is a swing state. Cook Political has Osoff’s race as a toss-up.

Outside groups and Sen. Raphael Warnock’s (D-GA) campaign spent over $515 million during his 2022 run, making it “the most expensive of the cycle.”

Campaigns, super PACs, and outside groups spent $1.4 billion in four races between 2020 and 2022.

Osoff does not have a Republican challenger yet. Many Republicans have said they will only run if current Gov. Brian Kemp chooses not to run.

Osoff defeated Sen. David Purdue by 50.6% in 2020.

President Donald Trump defeated former VP Kamala Harris by two points in November.

This money is ridiculous

516 million buys ALOT of votes

How can we get the freaking money out of our politicians?

Short of civil war

Hang them upside down by their ankles and shake them until it all falls out of their pockets,

I’ve come to the opinion that each state should

    1) restrict campaign fund raising to personal contributions from people permanently resident within the state for state wide public offices including congress critters. For Representatives it should be further restricted to the district. Similar restrictions for state and city elected officials. No funding from businesses, labor unions, PACS, etc… Spending of personal funds to be restricted. Loans to be restricted as well.

    2) Campaign funds are raised for a specific cycle and office. Forfeiture of all left over campaign funds to the state upon completion of the cycle.

This would drain the money out of politics and I’m sure everyone would hate it and it would never be imposed.

people have won who have been outspent

the problem is the socialists who think its ok to force others to pay for your wants and needs

Thank you Donald F. Trump!

Trump’s middle initial is J, not F, you idiot.
Kemp will beat Ossoff handily. You heard it here first.
    Quit upvoting yourself, ya simp.

Such a strange, angry comment. Does anything happen that is not affected by TDS?

I’m thinking when JR had his heart surgery (performed by a muslim doctor don’t you know) the anesthesiologist screwed up and didn’t give him sufficient oxygen. The consequence was brain damage sufficient that he sees DJT everywhere. This triggered development of severe TDS which he demonstrates with every and I mean every post.

Money never means a win and I hear he’s in a battle to keep the seat this time.

Ossoff’s a good speaker. He’ll be tough to beat. Nobody thought he could be elected, but he was.

Ossof is one of the 15 or so anti-Israel senators. This has supposedly landed him in trouble for reelection. First though we need to know who he is running against.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Republicans had held that seat since the ’90s until Ossoff barely squeaked out a win amid Georgia’s 2020 election shenanigans. He’s far and away the most at-risk of the Dem Senators in the midterms.

Ya thinK? I call Shenanigans.
Now is the perfect time to investigate ActBlue for their well-documented smurfing activities.
Burn it to the ground, salt the ashes, and then — fine all those donations away,

In 2016 I got a thank you from the GA democratic fund for the $100 donation I had given them. Nope, I have never given a donation to any political party or candidate.

You might be right but that does not really change election outcomes. Rather I think it changes congressman votes after election. After all, do you think people choose to vote for someone just because they hear that it was financed by small donors? Bernie would be POTUS by now if that were the case.

Here’s an interesting piece from a conservative site that suggests its a bipartisan problem. It would not surprise me if all of the Republican ones are the big govt types.

Huh? I’m not talking about changing election outcomes or votes. I’m talking about throwing political fraudsters in prison for violating election funding law by laundering the donations of fat cats through the names of 1000 Joe and Jane six packs who don’t even realize they’re involved. And then climbing back all that dirty money to starve the Democrat candidates who received it.

This only amounts to $8.3 m, assuming that the 155 is a subset of the 260.

Republicans would be smart not to underestimate him. He’s the new Dem Beto with less of a waffle rep.

I live in GA and I can tell you that not a dollar came from GA. It is all leftist billionaire money trying to defeat Trump’s agenda. Oshoff is a total loser and would have never been elected if the voting in GA had not been so corrupt in 2020. When it came to the runoff vote, many were so disgusted with the presidential vote that they stayed home. He and the criminal Warnock got elected by a small number of voters.

ztakddot in reply to inspectorudy. | April 7, 2025 at 8:41 pm

Staying home for any election in a snit is just plain stupid. You get the government you deserve when you throw such a hissy fit.

How much of that money was raised through the utterly corrupt Act Blue?

I have suffered through many YouTube ads, where this guy is begging for $$$.
