Book: Obama ‘Didn’t Want Kamala Harris’ to Replace Biden

“And he worked really behind the scenes for a long time to try to have a mini primary or an open convention or mini primary leading to an open convention.”

Apparently, former President Barack Obama did not want former Vice President Kamala Harris to replace former President Joe Biden on the presidential ticket.

Is anyone shocked?

NBC political reporter Jonathan Allen dishing out some insight from his book FIGHT: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House about the Democrats’ fiasco last summer.

Allen wrote the book with The Hill senior correspondent Amie Parnes.

Allen spilled this tidbit on Morning Jo on Tuesday. From Mediaite:

So President Obama absolutely did not think that Joe Biden should continue, according to our sources close to President Obama. And he also didn’t want Kamala Harris to be the replacement for Biden. He didn’t think that she was the best choice for Democrats. And he worked really behind the scenes for a long time to try to have a mini primary or an open convention or mini primary leading to an open convention. He did not have faith in her ability to win the election. So and as it turned out, she didn’t win, but he was really working against her.

In one moment. He had set up a phone call with congressman [Jim] Clyburn from South Carolina on the day that Joe Biden handed off the baton to Kamala Harris, and Obama had set up a call with Clyburn for like 5:30 that afternoon. And Clyburn thought to himself, ‘this guy is going to try to rope me into the open convention thing. I better get my endorsement of Harris out there fast.’ So this is a short conversation and when Harris talked to Obama on the day that Biden handed off to her, Obama was unwilling to give his endorsement then.

Again, not shocking.

Biden dropped out of the race on July 21. He immediately endorsed Harris.

On July 24, The New York Post reported that a person close to Biden claimed that Obama did not endorse Harris right away because he didn’t think she could beat now President Donald Trump:

“Obama’s very upset because he knows she can’t win,” the Biden family source told The Post.

“Obama knows she’s just incompetent — the border czar who never visited the border, saying that all migrants should have health insurance. She cannot navigate the landmines that are ahead of her.”

“When you are running for president there are things you can and can’t say.”

The source also said a debate between Trump and Harris will show she is weak:

“Wait until the debate… She can’t debate. She’s going to put her foot in her mouth about Israel, Palestine, Ukraine. She’s going to say something really stupid,” the source said.

Nah, they wanted to lose so that they have 4 years to undercut, whine and lay blame.

America has seen the inability of Democrats to govern, and the only retort the left has is judges.

Much as I don’t like Mr. Obama for what he a) believes b) says c) does, you have to admit that he’s a savvy political operator, one of the best the Democrats have.

I disagree. Obama is an actual dunce who had/has no coattails at all, even while at his most popular.

The fact that he allegedly didn’t want Kamala and got overruled merely underscores the fact that he didn’t have the chops or the influence to force his choice on the Party.

May I leave you with this quote from American Thinker:

“It has become obvious, in a sense that cannot be denied, that Obama is a fundamentally stupid man. He has all the equipment, all the training, would probably do well on all the tests — but it doesn’t come together and produces no worthwhile results. He knows all the buzzwords, and how to get them across. He easily impresses crowds and onlookers so long as the questions don’t get too detailed. But he can’t turn any of this into action. Everyhing he touches, without exception, falls to pieces. He has no single political success to his record. His administration is one endless Gobi, lifeless and bare.”

That only holds if his real goal was to improve America.
It wasn’t — it was to become President, powerful, wealthy, and successful.
The man isn’t a towering intellect, but his street instincts were well developed.

The whole tale reminds me of the lug nut joke, with the appropriate twist.
    “I’m evil, I’m not stupid.”

Proving once again he really doesn’t have very good political instincts, certainly not like what Clinton had…or Trump has. Harris was a horrible candidate. But, there’s little doubt (to me) that had they stayed with Biden, the down-ballot races would have been even worse for them, probably giving the GOP Senate two or maybe even three more seats (AZ, MI & NV) and probably another 5 or more GOP House seats. Joe Biden was becoming increasingly unpopular. Replacing him with Harris, a nominal person of color, allowed some minorities to ‘come home’ in the closing weeks of the campaign. Joe Biden wasn’t going to do that.

Well, no shit. Obama may be a midwit, but he’s not stupid.

and thats the beauty of it allll

the dems caused nothing short of election interference against themselves

their hypocrisy and self hate knows no bottom

Kamala was never the problem. She was a symptom of the issue, which was the corrupt choice of an incapable Biden as candidate 4 years before. Once that was done, future problems were guarantied.

Obama didn’t want?

Sounds like he’s used to having his own way.

He’s used to getting his wants and wishes and having his butt kissed when all of a sudden a wrench is thrown into the Democrat gearbox.

Does this means he will finally move out of Washington DC?

I mean, you know, after the divorce is final?

The next question is which sock puppet did he want so he could continue being in charge behind the scenes.

If Obama had any influence over Biden’s administration, Joe wouldn’t have even attempted a run at a second term and they would have had Gretch in the wings, waiting to take the stage.

“When you are running for president there are things you can and can’t say.”

Here we see that Obama knows that Democrats can’t say what they actually believe because if they do they will lose.

“Wait until the debate… She can’t debate. She’s going to put her foot in her mouth about Israel, Palestine, Ukraine. She’s going to say something really stupid,”

Here we see that Obama knows Harris is a moron.

Obama though they would be able to drag Joe’s shambling corpse across the finish line again so let there be no real primary. He wanted another term where he got to pull many of the strings from behind the scenes.
The lust for power cost them a chance to win.

Obama suffers from “Harvard Syndrome”, he falsely believes that he is ALWAYS the smartest man in the room.

One of my favorite memes:

Obama:
I need someone dumber for VP to act as insurance policy.

Biden:
I need someone dumber for VP to act as insurance policy.

Harris:
I need someone dumber for VP to act as insurance policy.

Waltz: …..

Why does it even matter what Obama wanted or didn’t want? He’s a commie fool who needs to be ignored and marginalized.

I think it matters in the context that he – not Joe Biden – was the de facto president for the last four years…and arguably, was the de facto president for much of the permanent federal bureaucracy for the last 16-years. Much of the military and almost all of the federal law enforcement and national security apparatus remained faithful and obedient to Obama after his final term expired.

Biden was supposed to be Obama’s puppet. In fact he was supposed to resign after inauguration and let Kamala be president. And he refused and they tried and failed to assassinate him, then they forced him out before the election and he said “if you want Kamala, I’ll give her to you good and hard. She’ll be your nominee!”

I think Biden knew he was throwing it to Trump, but he hated the Dems more. So Biden departed on a good note, believe it or now. And he was not Obama’s puppet in some important ways. He let Israel survive 10/7, when Obama if he had been in charge clearly would have forced some form of surrender on them.

No one wanted Kamala. That’s why they voted for Trump.

Obama’s endorsement wouldn’t have saved Kamala. It’s not Obama’s fault that the Dems lost. It’s because Kamala-Walz was the worst major party ticket in US history, by a lot.

And Trump still won only red and swing states. The election was very winnable by Dems if they had run a strong candidate. There isn’t a lot of talent in the Dem party, besides Obama himself.

Which is why I read somewhere that if Trump manages to get the ability to run for a third term, it won’t be Trump (who will be approaching his mid-80’s and might be very unpopular) but Obama who snaps it up.

When you see how buddy-buddy Trump and Obama were at the Jimmy Carter funeral, I wouldn’t put it past Trump to be doing this intentionally, because he respects power, and Obama is a political force. One that we must keep from returning to power.

So, that’s everyone, right? Everyone involved in forcing Biden out, with the exception of the word-salad-spewer, is now on record saying they didn’t want Kamala.

Seems the problem was they didn’t have an alternate already chosen, and hadn’t even agreed that it should be decided at their Convention.

So, she got it by default.

LOL!!

Barry-O checked the important box: a black D. He attended good schools, including an over-rated law school, and did what? Practice law? Work in a job for which a legal education was a bonus? No … he became a community organizer who garnered a state senate seat; he read one speech and became the darling of white voters, especially Ds, who felt good about themselves by voting for a black candidate (running with an old white guy for VP). From the time of his candidacy to the present, it has been all about him – not about the USA.
