Shamsud Din Jabbar Identified as Suspect in New Orleans Attack

Shamsud Din Jabbar Identified as Suspect in New Orleans Attack

The FBI does “not believe that the suspect ‘was solely responsible.'”

*UPDATE 7:54 PM* Sorry this is late. I had to make dinner!

President Joe Biden finally showed up to address the nation about the terror attack:

The FBI is in an investigation to determine what happened, why it happened, whether there was any continuing threat to public safety.

Here’s what we know so far. The FBI has reported to me the killer was an American citizen, born in Texas. He served in the United States Army on active duty for many years. He also served in the Army Reserve until a few years ago.

The FBI also reported to me that mere hours before the attack, he posted videos on social media, indicating that he was inspired by ISIS, expressing the desire to kill. Desire to kill. The ISIS flag was found in his vehicle, which he rented to conduct this attack. Possible explosives were found in the vehicle as well. And more explosive were found nearby.

The situation is very fluid and the investigation is in the preliminary stage. And the fact is that right now, excuse me, there you go. The law enforcement intelligence community will continue to look for any connections, associations or co-conspirators.

We have nothing additional report at this time. The investigation is continuing to be active and no one should jump to conclusions. I’ve directed my attorney general, the FBI director, the Secretary of Homeland Security, head of National Counterintelligence Terrorism center and intelligence community to work on this intensively until we have full and complete information. And once we have that information, I will share that information as soon as we can confirm it.

Additionally, we’re tracking the explosion of a cyber truck outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. Law enforcement and the intelligence community are investigating this as well, including whether there’s any possible connection with the attack in New Orleans.

Thus far, there’s nothing to report on that score at this time. I directed my team to make sure every resource, every resource is made available to federal, state, and local law enforcement to complete the investigation in New Orleans quickly and to make sure there is no remaining threat to the American people.

*UPDATED 6:32 PN* The death toll has risen to 15.

—-

*UPDATE 4:04 PM* The feds went to Jabbar’s ex-wife’s home in Houston. The New York Times reported:

Federal agents were at the home of the suspect’s ex-wife in northern Houston on Wednesday. Outside, her new husband, Dwayne Marsh, said that the suspect had begun to convert to Islam and, within the last year, was “being all crazy.” He said that the suspect had two daughters, one a teenager and one a young adult, and that they were “a mess” after the attack.

—-

*UPDATE 2:21 PM* Authorities spoke during a press conference, confirming they found an ISIS flag in Jabbar’s truck, which he rented from Turo.

The suspect served in the Army for years.

FBI Assistant Special Agent Althea Duncan confirmed they found two I.E.D.s and disposed of them. She also said they “do not believe that the suspect ‘was solely responsible.'”

The FBI has started investigating his “potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organizations.”

Duncan said they “did not rule out that there could be an ongoing threat.”

*UPDATE 1:30 PM* The Sugar Bowl has been postponed until Thursday.

It was scheduled for tonight in New Orleans.

—-

*UPDATE 1:18 PM* The truck reportedly had an ISIS flag on it.

*UPDATE* Sources have identified Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar as the suspect in the New Orleans attack on Bourbon Street.

The truck had Texas license plates. More from Fox News:

Two federal law enforcement sources who were not authorized to speak publicly said the pickup truck used in the attack was tracked crossing the southern border into the U.S. at Eagle Pass, Texas, on November 16th. The identification of the driver who crossed the border does not appear to be the shooter, the sources said.

It has not been confirmed that the attacker was driving the vehicle when it crossed the border. Police have also not confirmed the attacker’s immigration status.

At least 10 people are dead and 35 injured after the driver plowed a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year’s revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early Wednesday morning.

The driver, a male, reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and opened fire on police after hitting the crowd. The brief shootout ended with the suspect dead at the scene, authorities confirmed. Police say 35 people have been transported to five hospitals across the city after suffering injuries from the attack.

The attack happened at 3:15 AM. The cops killed him after he started a shoot out with them.

The New York Times reported “the suspect was a U.S. citizen from Texas.”

***Previous reporting…

A man intentionally drove his truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street early this morning.

The attack killed ten people and injured 35.

After he crashed his car, the man opened fire on the police. He shot two officers, who are now in stable condition.

Fox News has learned the suspect is dead “after exchanging gunfire with police.”

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell declared the massacre on Bourbon Street as a “terrorist attack.”

So at first I saw reports indicating the FBI disagreed with Cantrell. However, a law enforcement official told NBC News that the FBI has started investigating the attack as “potential terrorism”

By the way, New Year’s Eve/Day isn’t the only reason why people gathered in the French Quarter.

The 2025 Sugar Bowl takes place today in New Orleans between Notre Dame and Georgia. It’s also a playoff quarterfinal game.

More from Fox News:

New Orleans police chief Anne Kirkpatrick said the driver who plowed a car into a large crowd on Bourbon Street early Wednesday morning did so intentionally.

Kirkpatrick said the man drove a pickup truck down Bourbon Street “at a very fast pace.” The suspect also fired a gun at police officers from the vehicle, hitting two officers who are now in stable condition.

“It was very intentional behavior,” the superintendent of police said. “”This man was trying to run over as many people as he possibly could.”

Kirkpatrick said this was not a case of drunk driving but was “more complex and more serious based on the information we have right now.”

She noted the suspect went around police barricades to massacre as many people as he could.

“He was hell-bent on creating the carnage and damage that he did,” Kirkpatrick said.

The authorities found “improvised explosive devices” but haven’t determined if the devices are viable.

Comments

The FBI immediately confirmed that this was not a terrorist attack. I guess no CEOs of insurance companies were killed in the attack by the muslim driving a white truck with a black flag.

Once again they refuse to tell as any characteristics of perpetrator.

Surely, the Associated DEpressed said that “a car drove” into the people…. Ban cars! They’re killing us! 🤔

Now they’re saying there may be others involved. Be on the lookout for dark-skinned, dark-haired, bearded, crazy looking men who go by the name Muhammed or Abdul or Kareem. Good thing they’re not looking for Jose.

It was a mostly peaceful New Year’s Eve celebration. We know that banning BMW cars should stop this in Germany. What make was used here to celebrate (fill in the blank)?

Be ready for deflection and revision.

From the photo, an F-150. Pretty much America’s Favorite Truck, same as the AR15 is America’s Favorite Rifle. Which to a Democrat means “bannable, no sweat.”

Or name

Not very secure if a truck could work its way around the Bollards

    kelly_3406 in reply to gonzotx. | January 1, 2025 at 12:05 pm

Agreed. Why weren’t concrete jersey walls used to prevent traffic from entering Bourbon Street? After the recent incident in Germany and similar events over the years in the US, security seemed very lax in NOLA.

Plus the news conference by the superintendent of police did not exactly inspire confidence, so I googled her. It turns out that SHE actually hit two pedestrians with her car in New Orleans earlier in 2024. She was also fired from a previous job as chief of police.

SeiteiSouther in reply to gonzotx. | January 2, 2025 at 10:33 am

The bollards that are usually there were removed for renovation and street work (FQ streets are notorious for cracks, potholes, etc.). The fact that they didn’t have police cars completely blocking the entrance is a mystery to me.

It’s slipshod planning by the city. Same as it ever was since I was a kid.

As I recall, they don’t have bollards, just movable fencing like you see in construction zones.

On another site, I read the area has hydraulic steel barriers which city officials did not raise, using only the flimsy orange plastic things.

“New Orleans police chief Anne Kirkpatrick said the driver who plowed a car into a large crowd on Bourbon Street early Wednesday morning did so intentionally.”

Well no shit Sherlock. Did you need to consult with brother Mycroft to figure this out?

    diver64 in reply to oden. | January 1, 2025 at 12:47 pm

Chick Police Chief and Chick Mayor. What could go wrong that hasn’t in every other city with affirmative action hires like that?

A guy drives around/through barricades to run the truck he driving into Bourbon street crowds and then gets out of the truck with a rifle to become an active shooter. That is text book description of a terrorist attack.
*
The identity of the terrorist and other personal details being suppressed is suspect. The Texas tag has been scrubbed from the on-line database of tag info adds to the question, is this being spun?

    TrickyRicky in reply to Tsquared79. | January 1, 2025 at 11:05 am

The presence of an IED is quite a surprise…….NOT.

stevewhitemd in reply to Conservative Beaner. | January 1, 2025 at 11:27 am

I think Tsquared’s complaint is that one can’t look up that tag in the on-line database. Not surprising that the Texas authorities would do that; one doesn’t want vigilante justice right now.

From that image, we also know the dealer at which the truck was purchased (license plate frame). And of course, even Texas has plate tracking on a number of its highways, toll booths, and so on, so we’ll begin to get a picture of where the truck (and presumably, the miscreant) have been the last few days.

Perhaps they just want to be extra sure on the identity, in case there are any accomplices that need a Biden pardon? /s

Joe Biden said he would have something to say as soon as the Wizard behind the curtain prepared his note cards. But of course he would need a couple of hours practicing reading the cards first.

        diver64 in reply to Paula. | January 1, 2025 at 12:48 pm

He apparently called the affirmative action mayor to offer federal help. No word if he called the Gov of NC to offer more help to people living in tents for the winter up by Asheville. Guess it depends on who you vote for.

Here’s your periodic reminder not to form any conclusions for at least 48 hours.

The press lies and when they’re not lying, they’re lying about lying.

🤥

X (Twitter) now has a picture of the murderer. Not Amish.

Well, all we need to do now is force everyone to give up their vehicles and switch to public transportation like buses and trains. That way we can make every area a Vehicle-Free Zone.

Update:

“The suspect accused of plowing a truck through a crowd on Bourbon Street is named Shamsud Din Jabbar, according to a law enforcement source.

He’s 42 years old. Police shot and killed him after the attack.

The source said he was carrying an ISIS flag in the truck.”

Arab name and ISIS flag. You know these libtards were “praying” for a white MAGA hat wearing dude. If this is accurate, I predict this “terrorist incident” will be off the news no later than Friday morning.

Perp is apparently a US citizen, born and raised in Texas and a US Army veteran who was working as a real estate agent for several years, at least. He also appears to be black. It will be interesting to learn if that name is his birth-name or if that’s a name he adopted after converting to Islam, (like Cassius Clay and Lou Alcinder did).

Standard question remains: What did the FIB know, when did they know it, and how much of this did the FIB orchestrate?

JackinSilverSpring | January 1, 2025 at 12:44 pm

It would appear that the terrorist was an adherent of the religion of “peace,” a totalitarian political ideology and death cult pretending to be a religion.

BigRosieGreenbaum | January 1, 2025 at 1:03 pm

There was also a report of a fire at an Airbnb that he was staying at; so now that’s being investigated. There was a link to a video of his that’s still up. Commenters called the phone number given in his video (real estate) and said that it’s been disconnected. Was he a sleeper? Was that his birth name or is he a convert?

And down the memory hole this story goes!

This will serve for some as justification to condemn religious fanatacism, such as Christianity.

If Obama had a son, he might be like Shamsud Din Jabbar.

smalltownoklahoman | January 1, 2025 at 2:24 pm

Terrorshits taking advantage of the border before Trump gets in and shuts it down. The only good that comes from this is it’s really making the case for the need to do so!

If only Jews would fly hijacked airplanes into office buildings; take and behead hostages; shoot up concert halls, supermarkets and municipal building meeting rooms; drive motor vehicles into pedestrians; abuse and oppress women; and, throw homosexuals off of rooftops, they might be as popular among leftists and Dhimmi-crats, as Muslims currently are.

Jaundiced Observer in reply to guyjones. | January 2, 2025 at 9:05 am

They wouldn’t be popular because they’re still oppressors. Only oppressed people have the right and duty to do the things you list.

Oppressors have no rights. And everything they do is wrong. They’re oppressors, for Heaven’s sake!

You’re correct, but, my facetious comment was obviously intended to point out the glaring hypocrisy of how beloved the Muslim cohort is by leftists and Dhimmi-crats, despite myriad of their most devout co-religionists engaging in persistent violence and belligerence, as compared to the peaceable and righteous conduct of Jews.

Chalk up another major Muslim terrorist attack on U.S. soil, that the despicably incompetent, hyper-leftist and corrupt FBI failed to prevent — given the agency’s focus on “Ultra-MAGA” and “White supremacist” boogeymen.

I believe I heard that law enforcement wrapped the flag which was being flown from the back of the truck. I cannot come up with a plausible reason for someone to do this other than to conceal any message on it.

The action seems to violate crime scene procedures, and it’s unlikely that someone would have done it without being told. Neither New Orleans cops nor anyone from the FBI gets the benefit of the doubt when balancing potential mistakes v. intentional fuckery.

FBI/Louisiana State Police are looking for three additional men and one woman. They have video of those individuals planting at least one of the explosive devices that were discovered in the area. According to local NO news, those explosives as well as the explosives located in the pick-up truck were wired for remote detonation. This obviously sounds much more sophisticated and dangerous than a lone nutter.

“We must have the courage to object when they use that term, ‘radical Islamic terrorism.”’ — Kamala Harris

thalesofmiletus | January 1, 2025 at 5:00 pm

We will never learn his motives.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | January 1, 2025 at 5:49 pm

The suspect served in the Army for years.

Under what name? Shamsud-din Jabbar sounds very Nation of Islamy. I can’t find anything about this.

FBI photographing the NOLA ISIS flag.

https://tinyurl.com/yrr3bhpr

Talk about a crime, the agent photographing the ISIS flag appears to be wearing Crocs.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to TrickyRicky. | January 1, 2025 at 11:18 pm

I wouldn’t have been surprised, but they look more like booties to keep from contaminating a crime scene.

Funny that the FBI would worry about that and then immediately hide the ISIS flag from the public and make no mention of it.

I knew it! Another white supremecist!

Wait a minute! The AIC said that the IED’s had been “disposed of?” Like the J6 pipe bombs? They hadn’t detonated, so they probably could have been disarmed / disassembled / rendered inert. That’s TONS of evidence the FBI just destroyed.

starlightnite50yrsago | January 2, 2025 at 8:42 am

I have no confidence in the FBI to do any thing. We never heard much after the Las Vegas sniper deal. I hope this is not covered up like in Vegas. The rule of law means nothing to our 3 letter agencies. Time to make them accountable to the citizens and not a political party.

President Joe Biden finally showed up to address the nation about the terror attack:

Why should anyone accept what this puppet says as useful information?
