WaPo: Hey, Democrats’ “Threat To Democracy” Campaign Theme Is Backfiring

Every once in a while I see something on Twitter that makes me laugh. It used to happen a lot more often when there were more conservatives on the Twitter machine because we are some seriously funny people, unlike the woke scolds with their constant screeching and shutuppery.
After months (years?) of warning about the dire straits that “our Democracy” is in because of those rotten Uber Super Duper MAGA types, the left is finally figuring out that Americans don’t see “democracy” threatened . . . unless you count by Democrats.
Despite the Jan. 6 hearings, the many GOP election deniers running, etc., just 52% of Biden voters and 23% of independents view the GOP as a major threat to democracy.

The Washington Post bemoans the failure in messaging that hasn’t convinced enough people that not just President Trump but all Republicans are a “threat to Democracy.”
Despite the well-publicized Jan. 6 hearings, including the likely final one, held last week, the insurrection has not been an overarching focus of Democrats’ 2022 campaign messaging. Politico reported last week that Jan. 6 has featured in less than 2 percent of ads run for House Democrats.
This lacuna in their messaging comes even as most House Republicans supported Trump’s baseless last-ditch election challenges that led to the attack on the Capitol, and even as a majority of the GOP’s most prominent candidates have either denied or questioned the 2020 election results.
Indeed, a new poll reinforces that Democrats haven’t really driven the argument home. Many Americans view Trump as a major threat to democracy. But the Republican Party more broadly? Not so much.
. . . . But if you dig a little deeper, you’ll see that isn’t the full story: It’s also the case that many Democratic voters haven’t been convinced that the problem goes beyond Trump.
The poll shows that 71 percent of Trump 2020 voters regard Democrats as a major threat to democracy. But just 52 percent of Biden voters say the same about the GOP.
And independents are significantly more likely to view Democrats as a major threat than Republicans. Although more than 6 in 10 view each party as at least a minor threat, just 23 percent view the GOP as a major threat, while 31 percent say the same of Democrats. Independents are actually more likely to view voting by mail as a major threat to democracy (31 percent) than the GOP.
Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made a similar observation:

Apparently, they honestly believed that their decades of “election denial” would be forgotten and that suddenly, maybe magically, “election denial” would be seen as a serious “threat to democracy.”

Democrats are incapable of understanding what motivates conservatives yet we know them for exactly who they are.
They are also so disconnected from voters that their own base is running away from them (think blacks, hispanics and suburban women). It’s not like they don’t know it either. They are alarmed but don’t know what to do about it. To them, it’s because voters don’t understand their agenda. But to voters it is that they DO understand. So the Dems double down by trying to stifle the opposition and shouting even louder. Try the “women vote for Trump because their husbands forced them to” argument again. Or calling latinos morning tacos. Completely tone deaf.

When we see double standards for treatment of rioters we see a threat to democracy.
When we see peaceful protests at abortion clinics lead to felony arrests with SWAT teams surrounding the house but pro life pregnancy centers are burned and vandalized with nothing being done about it we see a threat to democracy.
When we see SCOTUS justice’s homes protested in violation of laws prohibiting it and the Democrat controlled DOJ refuses to do anything about it we see a threat to democracy.
In fact just about every threat to democracy we see in the USA is almost entirely from the left.
And exactly how has Donald Trump been a threat to democracy? I don’t recall him using federal law enforcement to arrest political opponents. Nor do I recall him colluding with tech firms to censor his political opponents. I also don’t recall him continuing a policy when a court ruled against him. Yes he appealed such rulings but he obeyed them until he won on appeal. Is it because he believes that the 2020 election had fraud? Since 1968 I only recall one Republican presidential victory that the Democrats haven’t challenged and that was 1984 where it was a 49 state landslide ( and there are rumors that Minnesota had Democratic fraud that kept the election from being a 50 state sweep).
If the Democrats really believed in their policies they would run on them and stop demonizing their political opponents.

What we’re seeing practiced is the Big Lie. Goebbels and the Nazis (who were leftists through and through) used it repeatedly.

This is an excellent definition of the “Big lie,” however, there seems to be no evidence that it was used by Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels, though it is often attributed to him.
To Dem socialists, the mantra of “the Big Lie of a Stolen Election” is a sure indication that their projection is attempting to cover up the REAL Big Lies: Russian collusion, Trump as a racist/xenophobe/homophobe etc., the economy is really Pres. Trump’s fault, etc. etc. etc.
They are working overtime in their panic.
It is very simple, when a Democrat says “democracy” he or she does not mean rule by the δῆμος. He or she means rule by Democrats. Thus any Republican likely to win elective office is ipso facto a “threat to democracy”.
Democratc leadership are after one-party rule. They gambled their futures on the “messaging,” which is just a polite word for malicious propaganda. The whole thing is stunning in its audacity. At some point they decided that democracy really doesn’t benefit The Party. That notion – simply arriving at that conclusion – involves hubris and greed and other things more akin to a degenerative virus. It’s so darn weird.
I would desperately like to think that even the dumbest American on or off the continent would hear Joe Biden saying that all Republicans are dangers to Democracy, and say, “Waitaminnit. This is nothing more than them mudslinging their opponents.”
I don’t know about a “threat to our democracy,” but the left is a clear threat to our Constitutional Republic.
The “threat to democracy” was always just a “threat to Democrats”. The left could give a rat’s rear end about something like “democracy”.

The democrat party has believed for decades that messaging is the most important thing, that beating republicans is just a matter of airing the right commercials, buying the right journalists, – in their minds its just a matter of teaching people the right way to vote.
When they fail, they say it was because their message didn’t get out. The fact that their policies are insane doesn’t enter into it (to them).
All this is just setting up their post-election fund-raising message. “We tried but the evil Trump drowned us out!”
That disconnect between real-world effects and the focus on “the message” is part of why they keep acting crazier and crazier. The funny thing is, the message keeps getting crazier and crazier too. And they don’t see it.
Expect them to get more shrill and more violent after the election. Introspection will never be on the menu.
I don’t care what Ginger Goebbels thinks about anything. I listened to her lies, spin, snark and condescending mean girl act from the Briefing Room long enough that I have zero interest in hearing her on any subject again. How can I believe anything out of her after that performance on a daily basis?
As for the Jan 6 Dog And Pony Show, I’m not sure what the Dems think they were accomplishing. Great ratings for the first one but it quickly became clear no-one cared because of the partisan hacks on the committee and after Lizzy’s ridiculous “bombshell” involving that chic who made wild claims that Trump tried to hijack the Presidential Limo and everyone else said something “to the effect of” which is careful lawyer speak for third hand info which everyone picked up on, the Dems should have pulled the plug right there. That they waited until just before the election to subpoena Trump didn’t surprise anyone nor did wrapping it up at this time. If the Dems thought they would prevail next month you can be assured they would drag that useless endeavor out till 2024.
The Leftists have managed to redefine “democracy” to mean them getting what they want. Anything that jeopardizes what they want they label a “threat to democracy.” Any time someone else gets what they want it is illegitimate, fascist, racist or some combination. Conservatives don’t post a “threat to democracy,” but we do post a threat to their continued grasp on power. And that really scares them.
Way back when Newt Gingrich was speaker, he pointed out that, to Democrats, “compromise” meant giving in to them. Now Democracy means voting for them.
They are consistent.
Democrats are like children. Their idea of fairness is that they get to have your toys, while not sharing their toys.
The democrats are going to the gaslighting extreme. In Iowa, we have a congressional candidate who is a professor at the law school, and has actively supported BLM, encouraged rioting, and spoke badly of law enforcement, but is running a commercial saying or implying that’s she’s “pro-safety and security” and “pro-law enforcement.” Students who had her at law school confirm her rabid hate for law enforcement, relaying he diatribes against police officers.
I have come to despise all things Democrat. The people, the Party, their beliefs, and those who support them.
As an Independent who leans Right, I have become a pariah to family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors who all believe that anyone who does not support child mutilation and murder is evil. They believe that to control spending, to follow the rule of law, to follow our Constitution is racist, bigoted and hateful.
They, not me, have shunned and canceled me and those like me. But the irony is, that when the SHTF, they are the first to come to me to borrow money, to ask for assistance, to provide relief.
I have now shunned them. I have now written one of my family members out of my will, and told him so. He is dead to me.
I would never counsel a war, but I believe it is time that the United States peacefully divorced itself from those who choose not to accept the Constitution as our form of government… to let them go peacefully into good night, so that we may live in peace.
The peasants just don’t understand how much of a threat Trump and MAGA and all Republicans, actually, are to ‘our precious’ democracy.
Need to step up the censorship of Republicans and and the suppression of their free speech. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Get Garland to start arresting more of them. And expand his Gulag. Maybe start shipping them to Gitmo. Rumor has it many of the J6 criminals and traitors would prefer Gitmo.

IMHO- the January 6th hearings are a cause of Republicans and Independents thinking DemoncRATs are a threat to democracy. If not the primary cause.
