Shutuppery, How The Left Deals With Diverse Viewpoints: “Deplatform White Parents”

Shutuppery, How The Left Deals With Diverse Viewpoints: “Deplatform White Parents”

. . . and purge legacy media of white people. And stuff.

Stacey wrote an excellent piece on the leftists’ fascist trend toward shutuppery.  In short, and as Andrew Klaven insightfully notes, since today’s left has lunged into anti- and un-American ideology and policy that the American people resoundingly reject, the “transformational” left has become completely intolerant of any challenge to their radical, destructive, racist, and economy-destroying policies.

As Joe “I am the Democratic Party” Biden flails and fails at literally everything, as their commie BBB boondoggle crashes and burns (thank you, Joe Manchin), and as American voters from indies to Hispanics reject the radical Democrat agenda, you can just see the long, silent scream and feel the foot stompy, pudgy fist pounding “shutup, shutup, shutup” from the emotionally-stunted,  incessantly angsty, perpetual teenagers of the radical left.

Buzzfeed (yes, they are apparently still publishing, who knew?) recently published an article entitled, “Deplatform White Parents.”  This is the ultimate shutuppery: literally calling on the media and social media platforms to deflatform “white parents.”

The article is a ridiculous attempt to conjoin through magical leftist “intersectional” thinking “transgenders” and black people.  Obviously, that rubric is just too stupid for words.

“Intersectional” blah blah was always stupid, but I think this article highlights the very reasons it’s completely useless in political terms by demonstrating why Hispanics and the working class of every race are fleeing the Democrat Party in droves. Hello, you Latinx person of indeterminable gender, you are just like a transgender fe/male.  Just. Like.  Really, we mean it.  Big grin, head pat.

Yeah, who doesn’t want to hear that? Oh, right, nobody. Ever.

This Buzzfeed writer is living in some surreal lunatic land in which black, Latino, Hispanic, Asian, Eskimo, indigenous, and every other not-white of European origin are exactly the same, have the same concerns and goals and needs. Probably even cultures. There’s a “POC” culture, right? Oh, and any trans person from those voting blocs and even from white ones are just like the “POC.” Just. Like.

Today’s Democrats literally see any non-white as a “POC,” not as a person, not as a person with a unique and important culture, not as anything but a blurry “POC” vote. It’s the most racist thing, possibly ever.

Honestly, I don’t even get that level of crazy.  Instead, I want to focus on the equally crazy points this Buzzfeed writer makes about the need to force white parents to shutup, shutup, shutup.

From the Buzzfeed piece (archive link):

Whatever the content of the reporting or articles, in platforming these issues through the “concerns” of cis and white people, mainstream media helped distort what constitutes legitimate perspectives for coverage, and in doing so sidelined the actual difficulties experienced by marginalized communities, including Black and trans youth.

Absolutely everyone knows that black people have the exact same life experience as . . . checks notes . . . “trans youth.” So identical, just the same, exact mirror experiences. And stuff.

The root of the Buzzfeed article’s argument for “deplatforming white parents” is that they don’t toe the radical leftist line and must therefore be silenced. There is not one point in this entire piece that suggests that the white parents it seeks to deplatform are anything other than dangerous to the leftist orthodoxy.

This argument is built on sand, held aloft by clouds of delusion, and teetering on a shiny pile of Skittles pooped by the nearest unicorn.

Buzzfeed continues:

Right-wing activists used similar framing to introduce the so-called controversy over “critical race theory.” Attempts to eradicate histories of race in the US are nothing new. As recently as 2011, activists attempted to ban ethnic studies and Mexican American studies curricula in Arizona. But “ethnic studies” simply doesn’t have the polarizing — or “concerning” — ring necessary to stoke a national panic about existing curricular offerings like studying civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

The term “critical race theory” was perfect for right-wing campaigns, though, because, as one activist told the New Yorker this summer, to “most” Americans it “connotes hostile, academic, divisive, race-obsessed, poisonous, elitist, anti-American.” So a long-term campaign to dismantle any talk of race and history in schools was rebranded as a crusade against critical race theory, even though that term actually refers to a graduate-level theory about the intersections of law, culture, and structural racism that has nothing to do with elementary history in classrooms.

Okay, it’s hard not to laugh, right? Who has ever advocated NOT teaching Martin Luther King, Jr. in K-12? Literally, who? Ever?

As LI has tirelessly documented, the racist teachings through the lens of “antiracism” is divisive, destructive, and in direct opposition to the teachings of MLK whose infamous dream saw black people judged by the content of their character not, as today’s radical left insists, by the color of their skin.

As we have repeatedly noted, CRT is not about “teaching history,” it is about sorting students by skin color into “oppressed” and “oppressor” categories. “Equity” means supporting Black Lives Matter and racist redistribution and federal handouts based on race. It means reparations for blacks (yeah, so that whole POC thing is just a shill, one the Hispanic and Asian voters are finally understanding).

This Buzzfeed writer is either completely ignorant of what is happening in our nation’s schools or is complicit in the soul-destruction of millions of American children of all races: What’s more disturbing, learning that if you are white you are racist in the womb and will always be so or that you are a doomed, oppressed victim of whites (even those in the womb) with literally no hope at all?

This is the radical dystopian Democrat vision for America: self-hating whites vs. hopeless, perpetual victim blacks (or kind of, maybe not as importantly, of other ‘people of color.’ And also trans youth. You know, maybe.).

Interestingly, this Buzzfeed writer goes straight to the heart of the “problem” of white parents: there’s just too darned many heterosexual white people in legacy media. Stop laughing.

It’s not an accident that in all the race and trans backlash stories, class is invoked not to call out how white middle- and upper-class perspectives shape newsrooms (including through media CEOs). Instead, it is invoked to imply that anti-racism or trans rights are somehow an “elitist” concern. This framing takes pressure off the publications themselves to engage with these issues as a labor concern in their own newsrooms. But divorcing stories about class and identity from the real world and existing power structures is a distortion. Framing and context shouldn’t only be dictated by cis white fears and concerns.

Still, there have been some changes by newsrooms around the framing of stories to acknowledge power imbalances in the real world. The Verge has updated its policies for giving big tech companies anonymity as background sources for articles. Some news organizations are questioning the uncritical use of police sources when ascertaining the truth of events. Cis and white “concerned parents” might be less obviously identifiable as problematic sources, but it’s a powerful category of people due for a similar reckoning.

Tellingly, after a backlash to the white framing of its “how young is too young” CRT story, CBS changed the headline — not to, say, “White Parents Are Finally Having to Grapple with Questions Others Routinely Do.” Instead, it was replaced with a nonclickbait-y mouthful: “Documentary explores debate over how and when race should be taught in schools.”

We knew this was coming, right? At some point, there had to be a call for white people to step aside to make way for the blacks (and maybe, begrudgingly to other “POC”). Because not white (who’s really the racist party?). Oh, and let’s not forget that all “POC” are just exactly the same as transgender people. It’s all one, interconnected. It’s intersectional. That sounds good, right?

Well, if you don’t think about it, right? Yeah, no.

The next stage is the self- and not so self-purge among leftist pols, business execs, and etc. White leftists buying this garbage HAVE to step aside, maybe get jobs as housekeepers and seasonal fruit pickers to atone for this white privilege they have improperly profited from without any skill or ability of their own, trading solely on the color of their skin.

And make no mistake, that demand is coming, so be ready to shed every white person (and no, a BLM flag won’t save your white butts from the hordes you’ve created and fueled) Hollyweird, Democratic Party, Big Tech, and Sports, Inc. Purge all whites from your companies or suffer the consequences . . . the same consequences you’ve cheered for others, of course, so who will come to your defense? Not me.

Your mewls about racism targeting your lily white self will be met with the typical leftist refrain: shutup, shutup, shutup.

And will fall on deaf ears on the right. Because we told you so.

My mind insists on reading that word as “Shtuppery,” and on alternate days actually I do feel that’s what the left is imposing on me.

“As Joe “I am the Democratic Party” Biden flails and fails at literally everything…”

Hey, don’t forget a shout out to Tony “I am Science” Fauci!

As long as you can endure it, don’t forget that the crazier this gets now, the sweeter we’ll all get rewarded in 11/2022!

    MARGINALIZING

The Left knows a lot about “marginalizing” – they have succeeded in having media marginalize the right. Why was FOX created in the early 1990’s ? It was because the Leftists had taken control of media. The right is always slow to pick up on the ways in which the Left attacks.

THE RIGHT CONSISTENTLY IS IN REACTION MODE. WHY ?

The left has now gone so far as to “reimagine socialism” – basically “Democratic Socialism” is socialism with a happy face and a giant racial/gender – based wedge. They have brainwashed enough young people to think they can get away with it now and mainstream it. Marxists are sneaky. Just like they try to sneak CRT into classrooms to brainwash kids.
    > 20 years ago both the Dems and Repubs would have laughed at anyone trying to push socialism. Now it is the core of the Jackass Party.

HOW DID DEMOCRATS ALLOW THEIR PARTY TO BE HIJACKED BY MARXISTS ? ? ?
The question is actually irrelevant now. The fact is that it has be hijacked and the only relevant question now is “what will the country do about it”. I propose that the best medicine is a full outright rejection of the Marxist Democrats. In the midterms AND in the 2024 Presidential election – Democrats must be ejected from their seats by a wide margin.

MEDIA WAS THE USEFUL IDIOT FROM 1970s ONWARD
      TEACHERS UNIONS FROM 1980s ONWARD
      > DEMOCRAT PARTY IS THE USEFUL IDIOT OF THE 21st CENTURY

Marxists are always looking for useful idiots. Their greatest accomplishment is turning an organization into a vessel for their messaging. They need people gullible enough to believe in a utopian fantasy where everyone and everything is equal. They never mention how such equality is actually the equal sharing of misery (to paraphrase Churchill).

There’s an epidemnic of treason in our country. It’s not for princple: it’s for money.

The ‘useful idiots’ we complain about are too often people who have been bribed, on a large scale or small.

The intentional plan of installing incompetent, crazy people into our government has been wildly successful.

“Stephen Miller: I believe Joe Biden is controlled by his staff and his aides. And not just senior staff. Mid-level aides in the White House. You know a recent incident that people made a great deal of fun about, as well as they should have, is that Joe Biden said, “Let’s go Brandon!” during Christmas. To me reveals something much more insidious which is he doesn’t know about the ‘Let’s go Brandon’ meme because he doesn’t consume any of his own information. He is completely sheltered and controlled. ”

These people keep coming up with complicated ideas based on false premises and rationalized with confoundingly warped logic to arrive at a world where everything is upside down and perverted. Then they call for dialogue (“It’s time for us to get together and have a dialogue”) to which their answer to anything is “Shut the fuck up!!!!” We have to put up with that? No we don’t. Eventually, unruly children have to be smacked down.

I’ve come to the point that were someone to get in my face with this crap, I just might deck them. I’ve long wondered if I could knock someone out with one punch. I am primed and ready. Luckily, more and more people are feeling exactly the same way. There’s a reason why politicians have never polled so poorly (the LOTE Republicans are polling better but they ARE the LOTE). Most of these “Let’s Go Brandon” pranks at pressers are being staged by liberals. Our time is coming.

“These people keep coming up with complicated ideas based on false premises and rationalized with confoundingly warped logic to arrive at a world where everything is upside down and perverted.”

That’s about as clear an explanation as I have seen. 100 thumbs up!

What they don’t seem to realize is when you construct your own imaginary world out of illogic, unicorn farts, and fever dreams, it will lack a necessary consistency: some parts of your world are eventually going to collide heavily with other parts of your world.

Witness this: Boston’s new “vaccine passport” requirement for “public spaces” will serve to discommode “people of color” in minority neighborhoods most effectively, due to their greater non-compliance rate.

    Oops!

Likewise, feminists and transsexuals are quickly forming battle lines over “never been a problem before” problems in areas such as athletic competitions, school bathrooms, and even dating apps.

When the various fantasies of every politically-connected pissant receive government imprimatur as “newly-revealed truth,” there is no center left to hold. When the left tells you to “shut up” about objective truth, the wise man will recognize this as the ultimate arbitrage opportunity: bet on truth against fantasy, and wait for the shakeout.

If they make stone idols their gods, sell them pet rocks.

The shakeout is what is now happening. I recently re-connected with an old friend who is a professional writer in Hollywood. He and I have always been on the same page and still are. The vast majority of the people he has had to work with and for through the years were left-wing nutjobs. He told me a few days ago that the red pill is strong among them these days. More and more of these left-wingers have lost their inhibitions from at least revealing their discomfort and distaste for what is going on. A lot of them are gay and saying that is feels like being a closeted gay in the 1980s all over again. T

hey are finding a way to get out of their echo chambers and discovering that they have been trapped in their own personal mazes. Now if we could only find a way to get “conservatives” to do the same thing we would really have something. Everyone is disgruntled for the same reasons but won’t talk to each other….because….??? No one is “pure” enough?

CommoChief in reply to Pasadena Phil. | December 26, 2021 at 3:29 pm

        Phil,

The purity ideal is a definite problem for those on the right. Instead of a big tent open and welcoming to everyone who pushes for individual liberty we have cliques who push aside each other in a quest to be the most pure ideologically.

We should always welcome any ally who wants to fight for individual liberty, even temporary allies of convenience. Maybe working with a single issue person to advance one front will cause them to become converted to other ideas or at least more open to other ideas.

henrybowman in reply to CommoChief. | December 26, 2021 at 4:59 pm

No, we’re just like the left… except that we’re ethical enough to air our differences before we have seized power (and therefore never manage), whereas they wait until consolidating power to conduct their inevitable purges.

The other day DC’s mayor announced a vaccine passport mandate for various indoor spaces that will take effect in a few weeks, and it’s going to have the same impact that Boston’s will. The jab rate for the Black community in DC is sitting around 30%, with the largest concentration of unvaxxed in the two poorest wards in the District (7 and 8). I believe quite a few Hispanics aren’t getting it either.

A message board I was reading had quite a few commenters complaining that churches aren’t included in the mandate, so others had to helpfully point out that the city would get hauled into court in a hurry. After all, one of the most prominent churches in the city took them to court last year over the attendance restrictions that were in place and won. If I recall the city didn’t even bother with an appeal.

        henrybowman in reply to p. | December 26, 2021 at 2:16 pm

It’s going to be even more painful in DC, since their percentage of black residents dwarfs most other cities’.

CommoChief in reply to henrybowman. | December 26, 2021 at 3:39 pm

Not just in terms of disparate impact among ‘PoC’ but in a class sense as well. Someone working on a CPU can do it from home but the blue collar folks who work with their hands can’t. Nor can small business owners.

Eventually the class and ‘race’ impacts to our economic system not to mention a cohort of students will be fully recognized. If one has a two earner household of knowledge workers without kids or they can still afford nanny and private schools then Covid was merely disruptive. If in a traditional household with a blue collar father working full-time while mom works part-time and kids in public schools it’s devastating when Dad can’t go to work due to closure, kids can’t attend in person class.

DC has a high percentage of black dwarfs?

henrybowman in reply to henrybowman. | December 27, 2021 at 1:39 pm

I would suspect that the DC enclave has proportionately less hand-workers than other cities its size. It is amazing how many mindless, ambitionless drones even just a city government can employ, and a federal government… well that’s where pies go when they die.

Steven Brizel in reply to p. | December 26, 2021 at 9:35 pm

This is what the woke left wants -complete suppression of any opposing or dissenting view or anyone it views as “privileged”

When your basic principles will not stand up to honest evaluation, block all debate, cancel the opposition, lie, cheat and steal as needed. Then take Gaslighting to new levels. Having the dinosaur media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat party backing up your deceit, it’s not that difficult.

Deplatform 87% of your revenue stream? Yeah, I can totally see that!

Liberal playbook has always been since we can’t argue we need to shut down any opposing views.

Pasadena Peabody | December 26, 2021 at 1:22 pm

“…the same consequences you’ve cheered for others, of course, so who will come to your defense? Not me.”

Me neither. When they cry out, I’ll answer back with their own refrain, “Shutup, shutup, shutup.” And I’ll smile when I say it.

You’d have to deplatform Asian parents too. In short, deplaform parents from any group with an average IQ over 100.

I guess they haven’t read Matt Taibi’s actual on-the-ground reporting from Loudoun County, VA, where this sort of stuff came to a head and even flipped a gubernatorial election. It wasn’t the white parents. It was the Asian parents (both South Asian and East Asian) who called foul on the introduction of a critical-race-theory shaped curriculum and the destruction of standards for admission to the elite schools for gifted students. (BTW, when they say they are “not teaching CRT in public schools” this is true, but it is a misdirection. CRT is not taught, it is used to decide what is taught and what is not taught.)

Fairfax County also had a dustup over the school board’s wanting to change the admission standards for at least one elite school.

Very nice job, Fuzzball.

I think that the Buzzfeed writer wrote the piece has probably submitted it to the NYT with his job application. A perfect fit.

In what sense are Latinos “moving rightward”? They vote overwhelmingly Democratic, no matter what foolish Republican advisors calling them “natural conservatives” say. They sure as heck don’t vote conservative in Mexico, Latin America, or South America.

CommoChief in reply to randian. | December 26, 2021 at 3:49 pm

When TX border communities shift +30 towards DJT in 2020 over 2016.

The problem for d/prog is that as much as they have taken for granted receiving votes from African Americans they have until very recently neglected Hispanic and Asian voters. CA is an example of the competition for limited offices and patronage. Lots of African Americans in CA dutifully waited their turn in d/prog circles for aging white power brokers to retire. They were loyal d/prog foot soldiers. Now Hispanics and Asians who were told the same ‘when so and so retires its your turn’ want the same spot. Newsom selecting a replacement for Harris to Senate displayed their internal fault lines.

Milhouse in reply to randian. | December 26, 2021 at 3:59 pm

Moving rightward in the sense of being more likely to vote Republican. The majority of Spanish-speakers still vote Democrat, but it’s a smaller minority than it’s ever been, and still shrinking.

Steven Brizel in reply to randian. | December 26, 2021 at 10:08 pm

This is what those worship the gods of the woke dream about and seriously hope for – removing all different dissenting and opposing views from public discourse

Question for everyone here how many NYers who left NY do you know who resemble people cited here vs people just pursuing economic opportunity who have learned nothing and forgotten nothing?

Why are leftist women so fugly?

Intersectionality reminds me of civil-war era “race science,” which produced categories such as “quadroon” (or quarteron) for persons with one quarter African and three quarters European ancestry, continuing on to “octoroon” for 1/8 and, yes, “hexadecaroon” for 1/16.

Except that intersectionality extends far beyond this in its consideration of race, sex, sexuality and ethnicity. So this may start as “deplatform white parents” but it can hardly stop there. Ultimately there must be an oppression-points system of bewildering complexity (such as when a third factor adjusts the points-weighting of one or two others).

Or each organization could just appoint a political offer who shall award points on a case-by-case basis. With no right to appeal (or even to demand an explanation, of course).

But then, who shall handicap the handicapper herself? And, by what term shall we address such exalted all-high excellencies?

Milhouse in reply to Albigensian. | December 26, 2021 at 6:40 pm

No, intersectionality is the exact opposite of the mentality that produces “octoroons” and “hexadecaroons”. Intrersectionality is the mentality that says all “oppressed” people are part of the same “struggle”, so they must all put up a united front against all “oppression” and for each other, and if you don’t do that, if you omit to support even one member of that vast undifferentiated mass of the “oppressed”, then you are making common cause with the universal “oppressor” and your own struggle is therefore inauthentic and unworthy of support.

It’s at least an order of magnitude more crazy than the “octoroon” business.

henrybowman in reply to Albigensian. | December 27, 2021 at 1:44 pm

Wow. So how long a word would it take to describe Elizabeth Warren?
Ha ha, it was a trick question. The answer is five.

This conflation of blacks with native Americans has been simmering since Obama took office. It is an attempt to gain some sort of treaty or contractual privilege. Totally unwarranted.

Fine – go ahead and de-platform white parents. Why in the world is anybody even using them anymore?
