Sen. Mike Lee Sounds Alarm About Mitt Romney Helping Evan McMullin in Utah Senate Race

Tucker even mentioned that some members of Mitt Romney’s immediate family are helping McMullin’s campaign.

We recently noted that Senator Mitt Romney seems to be working to undermine the effort to reelect his fellow Utah Senator Mike Lee.

Romney has apparently taken a neutral stance on this race because he is friendly with the never-Trump candidate, Evan McMullin. Critics have pointed out that McMullin winning here would be a disaster for Republicans.

Lee is leading the race, but it’s a little closer than many people on the right would like it to be.

The most recent polling has Lee up by 4 points. The Hill reports:

Lee leading McMullin by 4 points in Utah Senate race: poll

Incumbent Sen. Mike Lee (R) is leading Independent challenger Evan McMullin by 4 points in the Utah Senate race, according to a new Deseret News-Hinckley Institute of Politics poll.

The poll, conducted last week, found that 41 percent of the Utah voters surveyed say they will vote for Lee, while 37 percent say that they will vote for McMullin.

Two percent of those surveyed expressed support for Independent American candidate Tommy Williams and 1 percent for Libertarian James Arthur Hansen, while an additional 5 percent said they will write in another name.

Meanwhile, 12 percent were undecided on who they would vote for in the upcoming election, which will take place on Nov. 8.

Lee appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show last night, and one of the big takeaways was that he looked concerned.

He told Tucker that McMullin is raising tons of cash from the Democrat fundraising service Act Blue. Tucker even mentioned that some of Mitt Romney’s immediate family members are helping McMullin’s campaign.

Watch a clip below:

If Mitt Romney isn’t going to help here, the National Republican Senatorial Committee would be wise to step in and make up the difference.

If Evan McMullin wins, he will likely caucus with the Democrats and be a thorn in the side of Republicans. The GOP cannot take a single seat for granted, especially with someone who is ideologically no different than Liz Cheney.

I never understood how Romney could think of himself as anything but a Democrat.

I don’t understand the appeal of Egg McMuffin. He’s greasy and shifty looking.

Olinser in reply to Paul. | October 12, 2022 at 3:13 pm

He has no appeal to normal people.

The only ‘appeal’ he has is that he’s an ‘independent’ so he can pretend he’s not actually a far leftist, and no Democrat had a snowball’s chance of actually winning.

By running as an ‘independent’, he can con stupid Never Trump leftists into funding him.

CommoChief in reply to Olinser. | October 12, 2022 at 5:36 pm

He’s independent all right, independent of any actual convictions other than his belief in his own BS and his ability to find the marks time after time.

And Bitch McConnell has said NOT ONE WORD about this crap.

If freaking MIKE LEE is a bridge too far right for you, then you’re just lying about being a conservative.

Literally the only reason I can think of for Romney pulling this crap is that he somehow believes if Egg McMuffin wins then he’ll somehow look more conservative standing next to him.

I honestly am not even sure Romney is going to run in 2024. It’s going to be an absolute conservative blowout turnout to get rid of the drooling dementia patient, he has to know that he’s going to get crushed in the primary.

Although it would be UTTERLY HILARIOUS TO ME if Mike Lee were to somehow lose… and then primary Romney in 2024.

You do realize your first sentence is contradicted by the article here (you know the fact that EVERY Republican senator besides Mitt Romney has endorsed and is helping Mike Lee).

If you think continuing to tell everyone you are putting a traitor in charge if we win is helping our side congratulations sir you are an idiot.

Barry in reply to Danny. | October 12, 2022 at 7:36 pm

Oh look, the marxist danny is back to tell us how wonderful china-mitch truly is.

Danny in reply to Barry. | October 12, 2022 at 10:54 pm

Wow using insults to refute the idea that Romney is the only Republican in the senate who isn’t helping Mike Lee wow I have never seen a cowardly idiot using insults before.

Barry in reply to Danny. | October 13, 2022 at 1:58 am

Poor ChinaDanny. He’s still waiting for China to start WW3, as he predicted, because an insane congresswomen visited a tiny island off the coast of china.

Danny’s real job is to help the CCP. He pretends to be something else, a supporter of republicans. Of course the only ones he really supports are the ones owned by the CCP.

McConnell is a complete rat, and is so corrupt, he has become no less a puppet for China than Biden.

Great sales pitch to voters tell them their vote is meaningless great play there chief. The rest of us will be helping Republicans win so they could stop Biden wherever possible as Mitch McConnell actually did when he got the senate in 2014.

Alternatively you could hand Democrats more victories on the altar of your purity whatever floats your boat.

Barry in reply to Danny. | October 13, 2022 at 2:02 am

Why don’t you learn to speak English and type/punctuate correctly ccpDanny?

Your “helping” is to help the CCP gain further control of people like the traitor McConnell.

Danny in reply to Danny. | October 13, 2022 at 10:14 pm

          @Barrry

You have made it abundantly clear you are just a Troll who wants Democrats to remain in power.

Well hope you fail utterly. Chuck Schumer has a lot of allies like you for operation demoralize.

By the way the insults you are giving consist of “I don’t like him therefore he is Chinese” congratulations sir. You have joined the millions of people who have genocidal level racism in their hearts.

If your belief is “I hate him therefore he is Chinese” yes you deserve to be cancelled. Even if I was Chinese (Hint I’m not) that would be an unbelievably racist way to think.

Barry in reply to Danny. | October 14, 2022 at 12:00 am

Oh look, chinaDanny is trying out the racist card, just like the lefty he is, working for the CCP.

Well, F off chinaDanny. I hate all communists, chinese ones, russian ones, cuban ones, Venezuelan ones, and chinaDanny ones.

As for the average Chinese, I can count about 5 close friends that are Chinese and live in china, not to mention having been there well over 25 times.

You are exactly what you appear to be, a marxist worker sent here to push the marxist line.

Utah just can’t help itself. Prove me wrong.

Tucker even mentioned that some members of Mitt Romney’s immediate family are helping McMullin’s campaign.

So what? Am I responsible if my relatives support Dems? Tucker should have known better than to bring up that non-issue.

henrybowman in reply to moonmoth. | October 12, 2022 at 5:57 pm

    That’s actually a great excuse.
Maybe Brandon can use it during the upcoming investigation of Hunter.

Barry in reply to moonmoth. | October 12, 2022 at 7:38 pm

Let me ‘splain this for you. Romney (spit) has his family members providing the support to cover for him while maintaining the fiction he is a republican.

So, yes, romney is responsible. He’s a POS as are many in the R party.

In essence Romney is refusing to vote for the GOP candidate for Senate in his state.

Anyone surprised?

McConnell is essentially opposing the GOP candidate for Senate in Alaska.

Anyone surprised?

Excuse me if I don’t get too excited about the GOP taking the Senate. All that does is block the Dems.

That is, except when McConnell musters his GOPe/RINO/neverTrump Senate allies to make deals with and vote with Dems to pass trillion dollar spending bills and further erode the rights of the people that voted for them.

Little will change for the better as long as the likes of McConnell, Romney, and their GOPe Brandon adjacent buddies sit in the Senate. The best I can honestly hope for is things don’t get worse at the same pace. The radical leftwing socialist totalitarian vanguard party will still control the massive powerful executive. And no doubt they step up the abuse of that power to attack their political enemies. It’s who they are, thanks to eight years of Obama.

I’d love to be wrong about that. But a long lifetime of watching the GOP lie to and betray GOP voters, while laughing at them and disparaging them at DC cocktail parties, does not fill me with optimism.

Danny in reply to JHogan. | October 13, 2022 at 10:06 pm

    Pop test

If we retake the house and we have 51 of your perfect senators what can the GOP achieve besides blocking the Democrats under a best case scenario

    A. Nothing

    B. Biden becomes a Republican and we get everything because the Messiah comes to Earth shattering his athiesm

    C. Uhhh they might mail you a chicken????

You realize you conceded the GOP will be doing everything actually possible (blocking the Dems) if they win.

By the way last time we had this situation was 2014 and McConnell did a perfect job blocking judges.

I guess every time a Democrat in a robe makes a horrible decision you are screaming “I WANT MORE OF THIS”.

But I guess Chuck Schumer thanks you for your statement of support. Unless of course you think we are getting veto proof majorities in both houses (not actually possible).

Utah is quickly becoming a frustrating state.

This will make Mitt Romney a one term senator. The Trump stuff on its own without any heresies on actual issues wasn’t going to do it but that plus trying to help the Democrats stack the Supreme court and pass everything they want into law will.

lichau in reply to Danny. | October 12, 2022 at 7:57 pm

Romney is Mormon royalty. Back to Joseph Smith royalty. I grew up in that part of the world; NEVER count him out in Utah.

Danny in reply to lichau. | October 12, 2022 at 10:58 pm

Mormons have real beliefs and trying to shatter all of them by say stacking the Supreme Court…..

He could be rescued by a Republican with skeletons in the closet running out of pure selfishness, or by an unpopular Sarah Palin like figure deciding to split the vote but Mormons just tossing all of their principles out the window…..I am just not seeing it.

“If Mitt Romney isn’t going to help here, the National Republican Senatorial Committee would be wise to step in and make up the difference.”

Are you delusional? Do you think the GOP Senate Leader isn’t on Romney’s side here?

If Romney can’t support another Republican, then he needs to go–and McConnell needs to go with him.

I’m thinking how “convenient” it is for the swamp that all the turncoats and quislings are always on the red side of the aisle, while the blue side marches in formation like scary little army ants. Then I think of Tulsi Gabbard. But I can’t think of anyone past her, while I have a Rolodex full of backstabbing Republicans.

gonzotx in reply to henrybowman. | October 12, 2022 at 6:45 pm

Tulsi is nNOT conservative amd believes in 95% of the democrat mic agenda, including open boarders, Medicare for all, “free” education ( you get to pay for it)..
She’s just pissed they dumped her for the kamal

henrybowman in reply to gonzotx. | October 12, 2022 at 7:13 pm

Oh, I guarantee you she is not a conservative.
But she is also not a Democrat anymore. And loudly so.

        “And loudly so.”

There is that. But I believe it’s just spite in her case. Spite that they dumped her when she removed the fig leaf from Harris.

You are missing the point. You are saying the same things about her that the NH Democrat leaders are saying after she endorsed Republican Don Bolduc for Senate yesterday. You need to rethink Tulsi Gabbard. She started in Hawaii, about as deep blue as you can get but that is where she started and was touted as a rising star which allowed her to make a name for herself. We need to give her room to emerge from being locked down in the Democrat one-script for all world. That is THE reason she bolted, to speak her mind.

Gabbard may prove to be a squish but so far, she is making sense. She could be just what we need to rebuild the majority sensible center away from the left/right extremes. That would capture most of the electoral college votes. Most Americans are not extreme anything and are on board with smaller government, low taxes, right to life, pro 2A. But the only choices on the ballot have been Marxist party or Stupid Marxist Accommodating party.

Let’s give her a chance to show us what she’s got and what she is up to.

Phil, if she were fat and unattractive, would you be saying the same thing? Be honest.

Literally nothing has changed in the political positions of Tulsi Gabbard. Saying you’re for freedom and supporting socialism are literally in opposition. Meaningless unless she comes out and states she was wrong, wrong, wrong in the past. And denounces socialists/communists* like Sanders.

*no difference, all socialists are communists

RickP in reply to Barry. | October 13, 2022 at 12:03 pm

Yup, Phil shows his true and weak colors when he said ” rebuild the majority sensible center away from the left/right extremes”, That’s what got us into this mess is too many “sensible center” Republicans.

There is no incentive for a Democrat to turn on their own side because all of the institutions, centers of power, and especially cultural power is with the left.

Fantasywriter | October 12, 2022 at 7:54 pm

Romney created a pretend internet personality named Pierre Delecto, for the sole purpose of upvoting himself and commenting on how brilliant the posts he made as Mitt Romney were.

IOW, he’s not quite playing with a full deck.

All I can say is that Romney was the perfect replacement for that pesky John McCain as the succession was virtually seamless! A thorn in the side to say the least…

I used to think Romney was better than Obama but now I don’t think there would be much different. McConnell, Romney and the other RINO’s are more interested in keeping their club intact than helping the country. Who is going to run against both of them next time?

    Barry in reply to diver64. | October 13, 2022 at 10:48 am

Obamacare is the child of Romneycare, so yea, no difference in reality. Both are grifters conning people.

I left the romney election choice blank. I wouldn’t vote for the SOB. And I understand my non vote was helpful to obama, but no way I would vote for that POS to lead the country.

With friends like Mitt Romney you really don’t need any enemies.

Mitt is still upset by the excellent job Trump did trolling him for the SoS job

If Lee wasn’t such a weak Republican, it wouldn’t be that close. And no one in their right mind would want RINO Romney supporting them.
