NY Attorney General Letitia James’ War On Trump Is Disgracing The Office

NY Attorney General Letitia James’ War On Trump Is Disgracing The Office

My Op-ed in The Daily Caller: “Tish James campaigned on and conducted her office for the purpose of investigating a political opponent and those around him trying to find a crime. That is Soviet-level prosecutorial abuse where individuals are targeted not to prosecute a crime, but to sift through their lives in the hope of finding a crime.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1yj0NKSsuU

We have covered Letitia James’ war on Trump and his family since before she took office as New York Attorney General, and throughout her almost three years in office. James promised to weaponize her massive office against Trump and his family

She has delivered, culminating in the recently announced civil charges that seek to bar Trump, two of his children, and many of his businesses from doing business in NY State. Even the NY Times recognizes the civil lawsuit may prove a tough sell in court: “Property valuations are often subjective, and … all his loans are either current or were paid off, some before they were due.”

But the merits or lack of merits in the lawsuit obscure the bigger offense here: James has abused her office for political purposes. I tracked this conduct in an op-ed that ran at The Daily Caller today. Here’s an excerpt, head over to the link for the whole thing:

Political neutrality of prosecutors in the conduct of their duties is at the core of what our system of justice should look like. Unfortunately, political neutrality is not what Attorney General Letitia James has delivered.

Instead, James ran for office on a promise to get Donald Trump on something, anything, and has conducted herself in office to exact political revenge on the former president, his businesses, and his family. Her legion of prosecutors and investigators have poured over and looked into every nook and cranny of Trump’s sprawling commercial enterprises in search of a crime.

This was all part of the plan.

During her 2018 campaign for attorney general, James proudly declared: “He should be charged with obstructing justice. I believe that the president of these United States can be indicted for criminal offenses and we would join with law enforcement and other attorneys general across the nation in removing this president from office.”

James tweeted the campaign endorsement from Rep. Maxine Waters that James would be an attorney general who “who will investigate Trump” and promised that “[t]he president of the United States has to worry about three things; Mueller, Cohen, and Tish James.”

In her election night victory speech, James boasted: “I will be shining a bright light into every dark corner of his real estate dealings….” and before taking office repeated her threat to target Trump world: “We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well.”

To target one person, a political opponent, and his family for political retribution using the power of a prosecutor is very Soviet. I concluded the op-ed as follows:

Tish James campaigned on and conducted her office for the purpose of investigating a political opponent and those around him trying to find a crime. That is Soviet-level prosecutorial abuse where individuals are targeted not to prosecute a crime, but to sift through their lives in the hope of finding a crime.

And lacking a prosecutable crime, trying to bring them down and purge them from the economic world through a civil lawsuit.

James’ conduct is a disgrace to the Office of Attorney General.

Some people aren’t intelligent enough to hold the position of dog catcher, let alone attorney general. When someone uses their public office for vendetta or persecution, they deserve to be tarred and feathered, then carried out of town on a rail.

This woman should be held accountable for her malfeasance under the color of authority.

However, since we can all be sure that some people hold their office because of affirmative action for entrance to law school, affirmative action in continued attendance in law school, and affirmative action in graduation from law school, and affirmative action in their election as a “whoa man of color,” we can rest assured that some people will never be held accountable.

In fact, some people probably have a good chance of becoming a Supreme Court Jester in the future.

I prefer they be tarred and feathered, then slid down a razor blade into a deep pool of alcohol.

Jazzizhep in reply to Ironclaw. | September 28, 2022 at 5:10 pm

Haven’t heard the “razor blade” thing in probably 20 years. It’s something my dad was fond of saying. He’s still alive, but doesn’t say it

When voters approve of this disgraceful behavior, you can’t expect any relief from the voting booth. America is now besieged by Soros AGs, DAs, mayors, governors, senators and congressmen. There is no law I know of that protects us from ourselves. So what exactly is the law that protects us from this level of lawfare?

If it were an actual law legalizing this, it would be called a bill of attainder which is expressly unconstitutional. Once this goes to court, it is likely dismissed but it is so egregious that there should be some way to keep it from even going to court.

So long as most Republicans and conservatives remain unmoved by what the Swamp is doing to Trump, the closer we are to these being the actual law. Someone has to fight and win this and the only one who IS fighting this and with his own money and determination is Trump. If he loses, all of you who think it will open the way for President DeSantis will be sorely disappointed.

Now is the time to fight and getting Trump elected in 2024 is mandatory for history to remember when “America was almost captured by communists but survived”. We are that close to losing everything.

Just to throw a light of hope on all of this, if we see ourselves as winning, then we will win. The law IS on our side and we have them throwing nothing but kitchen sinks at us. They are desperate. It’s time to pile on.

And despite how ugly the stock market was this week, that too is a positive sign that rationality is returning. consider:

We’ve had to rely on Trump and only Trump for too long. Now we have them worried about DeSantis and he is there slugging it out in battles he is creating. DeSantis sends 50 illegals to Martha’s Vineyard which was so humiliating to the left that suddenly, they are covering the border crisis. How easy was that!!! Where are the rest of the Republican patriots? Jump in already! This should be a rout!

It sure looks like Fed Chairman Powell has found his balls and spine and is finally decided to focus on the Fed’s dual mandate: price stability (fighting inflation) and full employment. The markets that have become drug addicts to free money are having a tantrum and pressing the political narrative that blames the Fed for a recession. Powell, at least for now, is doubling down on his new resolve. He not only raised interest rates another .75% but followed that up with notes telling us that he sees unemployment and inflation getting worse into at least mid-2023. Now the narrative is that the Fed is overdoing it. But the sooner the markets focus on the real problem, government AND private debt created by Congress, the better our chances of recovering sooner than later. So…. Where is everybody?

The central bankers stood their ground before the House Banking Inquisition this week and told them to F off at their demand to end all funding of the entire petroleum industry. That seems to have gotten lost by everybody. The Fed AND the central bankers find their spine in the same week. Where is everybody?

And now we have Trump and DeSantis getting hit by even more lawsuits and bad ruling by federal courts and AGs. You can smell the desperation. We are winning! It’s time to be storming the Iron Curtain descending on us! Where is everybody?

If you’re taking flak you know you’re over the target. Some precision bombing is necessary. (Retired F/FB-111 integrated avionics man here.)
      .

This is why President Trump must be victorious in 2024. He has to show that the commies and their flying monkeys in the press and their tech mini me clones cannot stomp all over the greatest country in the world.

I really like DeSantis, but Pres. Trump really needs to set the stage for the crushing of the commies. Maybe VP?

I love DeSantis and there are other “conservative” governors who should be following his lead and piling on to the doomed Turtle Traitors. Once the elections are behind us, the question will be whether the Uniparty Republicans won or the MAGA Republicans (who bring with them a lot of independents and Trump Democrats. Instead of dancing in the streets, we should get ready to be in the faces of all of these Republicans who won by giving us the same promises… again. Shut up and deliver!! For once, MEAN IT!

“set the stage for the crushing of the commies”

        Domestic and foreign.

Concerning the “Martha’s Vineyard” caper, my friend Charlie Barnes was inspired to make a song about it. “South of the Border.”

Isn’t that “Color of Law”, and a crime subject to lengthy prison sentences?

She’s black and thinks trump is her stepping stone to higher office

Absolutely will
Never trust a black AG

Of
Course there is Garland, but he’s criminally insane

The Gentle Grizzly | September 23, 2022 at 8:59 pm

I’m sure she will be reelected. The machine in New York will assure it.

Dunno. Tish’s move smacks of desperation. The latest poll I’ve seen indicates the GOP guy, Henry, has taken the lead. I suspect the Dems will try their usual tricks, but it still won’t save Tish this year.

Far from disgraced, it’s what the base is looking for.

The fundamental difference is rule by feelings or rule by structure. Feelings change to meet the situation. Everything is short term without consequences. Tomorrow is just more feelings.

Structure worries about the stability of the system.

Today it’s rule by feelings, and rule by women.

    Structure is a discredited worry.

      AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to rhhardin. | September 23, 2022 at 11:44 pm

Please define what a woman is. Apparently, another black female jurist with a cervix doesn’t know.

Suburban Farm Guy in reply to rhhardin. | September 24, 2022 at 8:12 am

Another view is that the Civil Rights Act effectively canceled large swathes of the Constitution. Half the country still lives by the original rule book and the other half hates it and goes by the new one. We both speak English but we have a different language all the same. This leads to the profound division you highlighted.

henrybowman in reply to rhhardin. | September 23, 2022 at 10:44 pm

Doesn’t the base have its own problems that a STATE attorney general could be solving?
Persecuting Trump won’t make NY residents’ lives better.
Persecuting the NRA hasn’t made NY residents’ lives better.
Exactly how HAS “Tish” made NY residents’ lives better?

Too bad the assessor/comptroller for NY doesn’t include a “Get Trump” line item in their annual report followed by a line item for “Get Trump ROI” …

Or is NY so far gone taxpayers enjoy burning money?

I still love the Allman Brothers song about her, “Fat Leticia'”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5XJDxe7TVY

What’s pissing me off, besides her of course, is the appalling lack of interest by any judge at putting a stop to her.

Clearly she’s on a witch hunt against Trump. She’s been doing since before she was elected and doing it even more while holding office.

The banks weren’t defrauded. They knowingly lent money to Trump and he’s paid them back. No bank has signed on to her lawsuit and why would they? They got paid and made money off the loans. No one lost.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | September 23, 2022 at 10:28 pm

People had better start going to prison for the insane abuse of government positions and power that we’ve been seeing since Barky first slimed into office … This sort of stuff really can’t go on much longer.

The fact that this disgusting piece of garbage isn’t in prison for her politicization of her office is proof that we are now in a banana republic.

The only thing the State lost out on, was the money that this witchhunt cost

RT
It is being reported that Garland/Wray had a SWAT team of 25 armed and ready to shoot agents arrested at home a anti-abortion activist because his son spoke back to an “abortion escort” who had accosted him as he protested.

Milhouse in reply to puhiawa. | September 25, 2022 at 2:08 am

First of all, anything reported by Gateway Pundit should be presumed to be a lie until you see it in a reliable source.

Second, even according to your own source, this guy assaulted an “abortion escort” who had done nothing wrong. He has no authority to forbid someone from talking to his son, or from entering his son’s so-called “personal space”, and he certainly has no right to assault someone for it. That alone justifies his arrest. For the manner of arrest we only have the criminal’s word.

Again, why am I not surprised?

First of all, anything stated by Milhouse should be presumed to be a lie until you see it in a reliable source.

Gateway Pundit is a much better source than CNN, NYT, ABC, NBC, CBS, or you.

Every arrest should be served by a swat team of 25 FBI agents according to a complete fool.

Well, guess what, I may not know with certainty if or how many FBI agents were in on this raid, but I do know the FBI is corrupt to the core and would have no problem doing such a thing to a person who makes it his job to defend the unborn from murder.

“For the manner of arrest we only have the criminal’s word.”

You have decided to label the man a criminal. You are as bad as every marxist out there. You would support Hitler and help send your neighbor to the trains for transport to the camps.

Defending your kid is hardly a criminal act.

Milhouse in reply to Barry. | September 27, 2022 at 9:17 pm

According to your own source he’s a criminal. “Defending” your kid by assaulting someone who has done nothing wrong to your kid, which he admitted is absolutely a criminal act.

Dimsdale in reply to Milhouse. | September 28, 2022 at 7:11 am

And we can’t trust or rely on anything “reported” by the state media.

As usual, the truth is somewhere in the middle, but considering the regime’s recent and continuing actions, it is leaning more to the GP side.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to puhiawa. | September 25, 2022 at 9:06 am

Gateway Pundit is the web’s New of the World.

Where did all of these hateful and incompetent black women come from? Kim Fox, James, Marilyn Mosby, Kim Gardner in St. Louis and I could go on and don’t get me started on all the affirmative action police chiefs. Accomplished black women like Condi Rice are watching their legacy be destroyed by this crop of nothings.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to diver64. | September 24, 2022 at 7:10 am

The answer is in your comment: affirmative action.

Remember how (c)rap music allowed black kids that couldn’t sing to have a music career.

Well, AA is doing the same thing to all the remaining industries.

I really feel sorry for outstanding blacks, because they will always have the shadow of “did they check the box?” following them…

Suburban Farm Guy in reply to diver64. | September 24, 2022 at 7:47 am

The Great Society pushing black fathers out of homes also had the collateral damage of pushing black husbands from their black wives. And as you see all around us, a lot of those black men took up with white women. How would that make you feel if you were a black woman?

    Dimsdale in reply to diver64. | September 24, 2022 at 7:21 pm

Please don’t forget Susan Rice, the WH architect of most of the current banana republic socialism.

    Marco100 in reply to diver64. | September 27, 2022 at 10:19 pm

Where did they come from? Well, their moms we could probably identify; tracking down the fathers might be a little bit more difficult.

People at her level go after each other and other people as a matter of normal business. I don’t like it but I can’t change it … but when they go after other people … they bloody well better be right IMO. Is she right … does she have the goods on Trump??

Trump Derangement Syndrome is a destructive illness.
Her followers are in the same situation

No doubt all this female haters are well versed in CRT

She is a “disgrace to her office,” but what good does it do when Democrats are devoid of conscience and incapable of feeling shame or disgrace?

She is running for reelection. NY is virtually a one-party state, so she only needs Dem votes. She doesn’t need to win the legal action against Trump; she is expected only to keep him in prosecution or threat of prosecution to win reelection.

As Rush used to say, it is resume enhancement for the Dems.

One has to recall the person who as a former Governor* and at one point was floated as the next most likeable person for Democrats to put up for President in 2024; Who prior to two terms first held office as New York States Attorney General. Which may explain why now? Why the aggressive prosecution which holds more air than water? Could it be for cheap campaigning with press coverage for the job Letitia “Tish” James wants to have? *Hint: Initials A.C.

People can complain about James and her motives all they want … the fact is she’s the NY Attorney General. What we should be asking is … is there a basis in fact for her suit against Trump. If her suit is shown to be baseless … she should loose her job as a minimum … but if her suit carries water … then we’ve all been taken for a ride by Trump … including every average Joe in New York and every one of his supporters. For those that are so sure her suit is baseless … griping about James without addressing the evidence isn’t the way to prove your case.

xnycp in reply to PODKen. | September 27, 2022 at 9:34 am

This whole “wait till the charges play out” is missing the forest for the trees. We have the 4th and 5th Amendments, and many protections under Due Process such as indicting only upon presentation to a Grand Jury, etc etc precisely to prevent an overreaching, hostile government actor from sifting through your effects and imposing legal proceedings upon you based solely on hostility.

If you give free rein to any prosecutor to engage in manifestly bad faith targeting for unlimited “investigation” then the process is indeed the punishment, and entirely contrary to the letter, and spirit, of our Constitution.

Dimsdale in reply to PODKen. | September 28, 2022 at 7:18 am

And as noted above in several replies, the charge is nonsensical; if he overvalued his properties, he was overtaxed. He repaid all his loans, with interest.

    Where is the “crime?”

is “tish” some sort of anagram ?

Well I see the censors are active protecting the marxist podken.

Weill, given her predecessors in the office, I don’t think she’s done a lot less to tarnish the office. One could argue she’s doing precisely what she promised voters she would do.

If memory serves, the NY State AG has more powers than the other states’ AGs, Yet the best she could do is a civil complaint.

A modest proposal: some NY attorney needs to make an ethics complaint against Ms. Jame’s law license.

Surely there are ethical rules governing prosecutors that call for impartiality and avoiding the appearance of impropriety. And, even civil litigators violate ethics rules if initiating proceedings simply to “harass” –and surely there must be a prosecutorial counterpart to that.

Someone? Anyone? Bueller?

Bobby Kennedy as the US Attorney General similarly went after Jimmy Hoffa. His brother never tried to rein him in; his brother’s successor sat back and let it happen.

Democrat Attorneys General have always had a Banana Republic free hand against anyone to whom they took a personal dislike. We’ve spent 160 years trying to enable a “just leave us alone” societal compact: the Democrats have rejected any such tolerance, in favor of their “we will destroy you” mad drive to power. When are we going to accept that there is not compromise in this? that the Dems will never just “leave us alone”?

Our very existence is an indictment against their putrescence: they hate us for it, and they will never abide it.

Fortunately, NY is a utopian paradise, especially the city, except for the Bad Orange Man who is bad (and orange), so I’m glad that she only has these issues to solve.

The Dems are missing an opportunity: HARRIS / JAMES for 2024!

Please explain how this refugee from a box of pancake mix got to be NYS AG.

A re-read (or likely a read for the first time) of Justice Robert Jackson’s “The Federal Prosecutor” would be wise

Things in NY must be pretty stable and calm for the AG to be spending this much time searching for a crime that Trump must have committed. Wait, I heard crime in NY was climbing at an alarming rate! This fraud should be disbarred.
