Amazon Relocates 1,800 Workers Due To Seattle’s Skyrocketing Violent Crime Rates

Citing skyrocketing violent crime in downtown Seattle, Washington, Amazon has “temporarily” arranged for its employees at that location to work elsewhere.    The workers are either continuing to work from home or have been provided office space by Amazon in a safer area.

Apparently the move is only “temporary” because those progressive policies will kick in any day now and the glorious Utopia will rise from the ashes of Seattle’s bear-hug embrace of radical far-left policies that have left parts of their city not just uninhabitable by anyone other than criminals but practical “no go” zones for law-abiding workers.

The New York Post reports:

Amazon is temporarily relocating employees from the company’s downtown Seattle office after an uptick of violent crime rocked the area.Roughly 1,800 employees are assigned to the office space on Third Avenue and Pine Street in the heart of the city, but many of the employees are still working remotely, Amazon said in a statement to KOMO News.“Given recent incidents near 3rd (Ave) and Pine (St), we’re providing employees currently at that location with alternative office space elsewhere,” an Amazon spokesman said in an emailed statement to the outlet.“We are hopeful that conditions will improve and that we will be able to bring employees back to this location when it is safe to do so.”

It sounds like there won’t be much progress on that front, though, given the Seattle mayor Bruce Harrell’s office word soup response that all but promises a ‘progressive’ approach to fixing the crippling problems created by progressive fantasists in the first place.

“While it will take time to reverse longstanding safety issues, Mayor Harrell’s early efforts are critical first steps to address crime and improve safety through dedicated SPD officers, a mobile SPD precinct, and additional environmental changes,” the statement said.“Mayor Harrell will continue to develop a comprehensive approach to public safety in collaboration with police and safety advocates, community members, service providers, and businesses, including Amazon, to activate, revitalize, and restore downtown for all.”

Other businesses have already left downtown Seattle due to rampant violent crime, Newsweek reports.

Numerous other businesses have closed due to the recent spike in crime, including Qumulo, a cloud technology firm, and Piroshky Piroshky, a popular Russian bakery, according to a local NBC affiliate. McDonald’s also confirmed the closure of its downtown Seattle locations, citing an inability to keep its workers safe.”My top priority is the health and safety of our employees and customers,” franchise owner and operator David Santillanes said in a statement to KOMO News. “Out of concern for the safety of our employees and customers, we temporarily closed our restaurant located at 1530 Third Avenue following last week’s shooting.”

I guess this is what “progress” looks like. No wonder people of all races are fleeing the Democrat party in droves.
