Portland’s Antifa Insurrection Continues: US Courthouse Under Siege, Media Nearly Silent

Portland’s Antifa Insurrection Continues: US Courthouse Under Siege, Media Nearly Silent

Some Insurrections are more equal than others.

Portland, Oregon’s antifa is still engaging in its years-long insurrection against local, state, and the federal government.  Most recently, antifa anarchists set fire to a federal courthouse and smashed out its windows, all with people still inside the building.

The New York Post reports:

Dozens of violent anti-cop protesters clad in black descended upon an Oregon courthouse, where they set fires and damaged the building Thursday night as federal officers responded with tear gas and flash-bang grenades, according to video and reports.

Footage from outside the Mark O. Hatfield US Courthouse in downtown Portland late Thursday shows a small fire outside the building, which was tagged with graffiti in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and the anti-police acronym “ACAB” – for “All cops are bastards.”

To no one’s surprise, Nancy Pelosi isn’t shrieking hysterically about Biden and his “stormtroopers” as she did when Trump was president.

Portland’s feckless mayor Ted Wheeler infamously oversaw the dismantling of the city’s Gun Violence Reduction Team in July, 2020 and went along with ridiculous anti-police demands of anti-American Marxists and anarchists, but apparently, whatever that ‘strategy’ was didn’t work.  He is now seeking $2 million to address the rampant crime and gun violence that has long-gripped Portland.

KATU2 reports:

The mayor of Portland, Oregon, announced Thursday he would seek $2 million in one-time funding for police, other agencies and outreach programs to try to stem rampant gun violence in the city.

The move by Mayor Ted Wheeler represents an about-face after city leaders in June voted to cut nearly $16 million from the police budget, reductions that included the elimination of a gun violence reduction unit. The cuts came amid racial justice protests following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Oregon’s largest city has seen a spike in violence. So far this year, there have been 20 homicides, most the result of shootings. During the same period of 2020 — the deadliest year in the city in more than a quarter century — there was one.

. . . . As of March 8, there have been 278 shootings in the Portland region, 58 people have been injured from shootings, and there have been 17 gun-related homicides, according to the mayor’s office. At the current pace, shootings and homicides are on track to surpass last year’s totals.

Portland Deputy Police Chief Chris Davis said the rise in violence is not just a police problem, and it needs attention from the entire community.

“Certainly the police bureau has a very specific role, but we need your help,” Davis said.

What the “entire community” can do to “help” stop the criminal violence taking place nightly in Portland is left unstated.  Of course.  It’s typically slippery progressive blather full of feelz and completely devoid of substance.

The takeaway is that nothing will change in Portland until leadership changes. That is something the “entire community” can certainly do to stop the violence and criminality, but will they?

It is a police problem. THe cops refuse to do their jobs. Ashli Babbitt was just standing in front of a window, not really doing much of anything (she was a girl so it wasn’t as if she could have done much of anything) and we now understand that it was perfectly fine to shoot her point blank and no one has to even reveal who shot her or why or anything. Fine. For real threats – for TRUE insurrectionists – it is clear that they should be shot in the streets, lest they continue with their crimes and attempts to bring the nation down.

Ashli Babbitt was just hanging around with a bunch of semi-trouble makers (they weren’t making so much trouble that there weren’t lots of cops standing around them at the very time!) and it is declard perfectly fine and reasonable that she was shot dead. These pantifa scum are actually very serious threats and deserve 100 times the response that Babbit did.

But … the leftist politicians and police chiefs are co-conspirators with these pantifa insurrectionists, so nothing gets done. This is why Trump should have had the Feds move in and start hauling these mayors and governors and police chiefs out in orange jumpsuits. Not doing that was one of the very few mistakes he made in office.

Sad, but true. We are in George Orwell country.

Police follow orders. Whether it is to stand down during riots and looting, or to round up [insert undesirable group here] for camps and gassing.

A friend of mine’s parents survived Germany’s experiement with the New World Order. Loosely quoting, “The police would smile and greet you; tip their hats to the ladies. They’d eat in your restaurants. They would bring their broken radio sets to your shop for mending.

“But, that was last week. This week, they received orders from their superiors. That smiling face of last week is now screaming “raus! raus!” as they push you into the trucks. They had their orders!”

So the Portland cops are the same as German municipal police commandeered by the Nazi party in 1930’s-40’s Germany?

Or is the Mayor of Portland the equivalent of Nazi authority in your analogy?

Or are you claiming police everywhere follow the authoritarian and criminal commands of their superiors, without exception?

Who is the villain here, the Portland PD or the Mayor’s office?

It’s a stupid comparison. The very one that these rotten children are using to rationalize their communist playacting. In the minds of its members, everyone publicly opposed to Antifa and its hysterics is a “fascist” because, obviously, if you oppose a nominally anti-fascist organization you must be a fascist.

Their little political games are making Portland the laughingstock of the Western world, and deservedly so.

Yes, to pretty much all of the above.

If you don’t believe it, familiarize yourself with the case of Mike Strickland. Portland police were under orders from their commie masters in City Hall not to engage with rioting Antifa. But the moment someone defended himself against being battered by these thugs, they had no problem arresting and prosecuting the victim.

Same with Steve Baca, in New Mexico.
Same with the McCloskeys, in Saint Louis.
Same in spades with Kyle Rittenhouse, in Kenosha.

We see the cops “standing down” in Charlottesville, cops deliberately herding MAGA groups into areas controlled by Antifa in DC, and cops in general everywhere showing extreme tolerance to rioting leftists, while throwing the book at anyone wearing a red hat.

Are the mayors and city councils at fault? Yes.
Are the police at fault? Yes, for following the authoritarian and criminal commands of their superiors, without exception. Otherwise, they would disobey and be fired, or quit. But no, they follow their paycheck like a dog follows another dog’s butt.

Babbitt was shot because our “rulers” deemed her a threat to THEIR personal physical security. When a “ruler” feels threatened, even bad shoots are good shoots.

Your personal security? Much more abstract to them, to the point of being nonexistent.

Not sure what happened there but I tried to post that I totally agree, President Trump should have stomped on these thugs day one

However, watching the disgusting woke military today, he may have wanted them to, but they may very well have refused

Anonymous Bosh in reply to gonzotx. | March 15, 2021 at 7:34 am

You just reminded me: Have you noticed how fast even the military has swung left? (I’m thinking of Biden announcing “maternity flight suits” for marines and the the “official” USMC twitter going *nuts* when, e.g., Tucker Carlson made fun of ’em).

Where they there and silent under Trump (Entirely possible: Obama swampseeds)? Are they newly appointed? Is *our* military soon going to run anti-war protests???

I don’t think they’ve swung left so much as retained the leadership that was the result of Obama’s purge of the war-fighters and installation of political yes-men. Trump didn’t (and probably couldn’t) do anything to dislodge them – in fact, it’s become obvious that they spent 4 years undermining him at every level.

Agreed. The rank and file soldier is a patriot, but to become a general you have to become a conniving politician.

amatuerwrangler | March 14, 2021 at 9:31 pm

It sounds like it is time for a bit of high-speed lead. Enough is enough…

Brave Sir Robbin in reply to amatuerwrangler. | March 14, 2021 at 9:37 pm

I am not sure what you are talking about. Why. It’s just peaceful protesting. This is what democracy looks like, unless you are a Republican, then it’s an insurrection, and what I am seeing is actually a bunch of people striving for justice fighting Republicans, or at least white racists, but I repeat myself.

Brave Sir Robbin | March 14, 2021 at 9:33 pm

They certainly telegraphed they would not.

The only positive thing to come out of this is that the federal guards are not being called storm troopers.

Where is Merrick Garland and the head of the FBI. They are not protecting the federal courthouse–even though there were people inside this time. They are both too busy trying desperately to find somewhere, someplace that a Trump supporter is being rude to someone so they can arrest him.

Milhouse in reply to JOHN B. | March 15, 2021 at 9:43 pm

Well, according to Garland if it happened after the court had shut down for the day then it wasn’t terrorism.

henrybowman in reply to JOHN B. | March 15, 2021 at 11:31 pm

Why is this positive? They work for Biden now, let them be called stormtroopers on every media outlet henceforth.

Portland, Seattle and San Fran are all getting exactly what they voted for.

Wheeler almost lost to someone MORE feckless/commie/left than him. That’s saying something.

Why is anyone sympathetic for them?

I’m not donating to antifa or anything, but they are terrrorizing the people who HATE me and my values. So when they smash the windshields and destroy cities of people who would gladly send me to re-education camp, I order more popcorn.

I don’t know which is worse: the Communists calling a riot an insurrection (DC) and an insurrection a “mostly peaceful protest” (deep blue cities), or Republicans meekly going along with this fraud.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to Recovering Lutheran. | March 15, 2021 at 6:22 am

By far, it is the Republicans going along, followed by people who faithfully vote (R) regardless of how bad the candidate is.

Enough of them regard a vote for a third party or independent candidate as “throwing their vote away”. If that mentality can be overcome, we might see some changes.

      “”we might see some changes.””

Yeah, more members for the “squad”. The Dems playbook is “Divide and conquer”. You and the rest of the third/fourth/fifth party contingent help them. The solution is to get conservatives to run as Republicans and oust the RINOs. If we can’t make that work, nothing else will.

        henrybowman in reply to txvet2. | March 15, 2021 at 11:34 pm

The Libertarian Party was founded in 1973 by a highly principled group of Republicans who had worked for years inside the party to rid it of RINOs before concluding it was not humanly possible.

But hey, feel free to waste a decade or two repeating history. We’ve got all the time in the world.

          txvet2 in reply to henrybowman. | March 16, 2021 at 7:06 pm

The Libertarian Party, as you pointed out, has been at this for decades, and manages to pull just enough votes to elect Democrats. But don’t let the facts get in your way.

The news media have been compromised by corruption for a long time. What they ignore and promote is by design. Ignoring antifa in Portland is not a surprising move given their true motivation.

henrybowman in reply to technerd. | March 15, 2021 at 11:36 pm

This is why, if the situation ever deteriorates to requiring high-speed lead as a solution, the cleanup should start there.

Ah, yes, the “good” and “noble” riots and violence, committed by hundreds of thousands of the Dhimmi-crats’ goose-stepping nihilist-thugs, over the course of nine-plus months, and, counting, and, repeatedly rationalized, encouraged, enabled and lionized by Dhimmi-crat leadership. To be distinguished from the single-day, alleged “insurrection,” committed by a handful of wayward conservatives.

AntiFa is what it is; an anarchist organization whose membership has, as its sole goal, the destruction of Western civilization. It has no plan to replace it, as it exists only to destroy.

BLM is different. It is in the “fight” strictly for the money.

Now, the liberal establishment thinks that it controls both AntiFa and BLM. They do control BLM, to some extent, because BLM can be bought. AntiFa, on the other hand is only under very limited control. But, the progress elite needs a force of deniable foot soldiers to offset possible actions by the deplorables and also the police.

If LEAs put forth a quarter of the effort that they are expending on persecuting Trump supporters who were at the Capitol on Jan. 06, AntiFa would be nothing but a memory within six months.
