Impeachment Trial: Trump Lawyers Present Arguments on Constitutionality of the Trial

Impeachment Trial: Trump Lawyers Present Arguments on Constitutionality of the Trial

Act I of Political Theater Part 2.

The Senate kicks off President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial today at 1 p.m. ET.

The House impeachment managers and Trump’s lawyers will each have two hours to debate the constitutionality of the trial.

The Senate will then vote if they should move forward. They only need a simple majority.

No question the Dimocratic Communists will vote as a block to move this persecution, I mean trial, forward…… and mental midgets like Mittens, Collins and Murkowski will probably tag along.

They already held a vote on whether the impeachment was constitutional, didn’t they? It went 55-45. I’d be shocked if any of those votes changed after hearing two hours of speechifying. (Sasse and Toomey joined the three you named.)

Brave Sir Robbin in reply to Ghost Rider. | February 9, 2021 at 1:32 pm

Since this impeachment and trial is supposed be about conviction and removal from office the president, I think the Republicans should call a vote to clarify who the president is and who is removed from office in the event of conviction at trial.

It is just as plausible to convict Trump and remove Biden from office as it is that Trump can be tried or convicted.

I mean, they can spend all the time yacking about Trump they want, but the vote to convict is a vote to convict and remove the president, and last I heard, the Democrats think that is Joe Biden. . . . or do they?

Isn’t this the essence of a Kangaroo court?

Paul In Sweden | February 9, 2021 at 1:34 pm

I do not understand what the Dems expect to accomplish with this impeachment farce. This is only stirring the coals and pouring gasoline on them. Every time they suggest that there was not planned, well financed and coordinated election fraud, I just get more and more angry. Where does all this take us?

Ghost Rider in reply to Paul In Sweden. | February 9, 2021 at 1:59 pm

Whatever the Dimocratic Communists or the news media say usually the opposite is the truth.

The angrier we get the more frightened their sycophants get. That’s the goal, to make it easier to sell authoritarian government to their followers.

Optics and sound/video bits of falsehoods to become part of the lexicon. The Big Lie writ Large.

Antifundamentalist in reply to Paul In Sweden. | February 9, 2021 at 3:52 pm

I can tell you exactly what they expect to accomplish. 1. They are trying to establish a precedent to remove future Presidents for any reason they care to fabricate. 2. They want to take away the traditional courtesies and benefits that he has as a former President. They want to take away his Federal Pension and the protection of his Secret Service Detail.

The Founding Fathers organized, their genius was needed people with morality run the country. Today, that is woefully lacking. They were about freedom and lack of central control. Today’s Dems/Progs are nearly opposite. The Democrat party is all about control, everything all the time. They know how to live your life better than you.

I am afraid that it takes us to much more serious conflict. Increasingly, it looks like this may be necessary.

What we have, are people who lack capability insisting that they are entitled to things they cannot or will not earn.

They expect to get a few soundbytes that the media will play breathlessly every time they discuss Trump for the next 4 years.

CNN, MSNBC and the rest are advertising it as “The Second Impeachment of Donald Trump”. All the aforementioned outlets have that as the description on our local channel guide. Nothing but theater, with hopes of forcing some mental midget into doing something they can bash all of us with.

Trump’s lawyers can make fools of the Democrats on this. The fire extinguisher is actually named as the murder weapon in the impeachment charges.

I know there’s a lot of other points the lawyers can make for Trump, but this is the one that sums up the Democrats’ willingness to lie about anything.

If the extinguisher didn’t hit, you must acquit.

Don’t watch and call your senators, call them all

Who do they think they are fooling. There was no outcry during 2015 & 2016 when Trump campaign workers and supporters were regularly beaten bloody in the streets by Democrat financed BLM and ANTIFA attack squads. There was no outcry all through the Trump administration when even people that were suspected of being a Trump supporter were regularly beaten bloody in the streets by Democrat financed BLM and ANTIFA attack squads. One loosely organized group, The Proud Boys goes to these Democrat sponsored riots and says we do not stand for your twisted view of America and you will not chase us and beat us off of these streets.

Which GOP senator is going to bring up the Democrat BLM & ANTIFA mobs with riots so well coordinated that they can have pallets of bricks strategically placed at the sites of “spontaneous demonstrations” where caravans of charter buses and vans packed with weapons magically cross paths?

The hypocrisy and lack of backbone in congress infuriates me.

BLM and Antifa are paid by the left and Democrats to act out.
Then they pay the judges and bail.. All charges dropped

They told Antifa not to show up on the 6th and for the most part they obeyed

This is obamas civilian army..

As rat tat as they are, they can murder and burn without consequences

God I miss President Trump

I think that Trump will be very active in making helping political scum understand interesting times.

Trump planned hundred of rallies, which required detailed planning to set to get thousands to show up.

The democrats would have you believe that Trump created a plan that was doomed to failure. In other words, Trump is a real dummy!

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Also, the FBI knew about the riot ahead of time a failed to tell Trum.

The FBI is not to be trusted.

gonzotx in reply to ParkRidgeIL. | February 9, 2021 at 4:06 pm

I wondered why he didn’t have some force there.. just because of the Antifa/BLM uus Sally stirring things up

I think it was a mistake

Congress knew, the COP quit because of them not respite his pleas for help prior and the result

Apparently not only Nazinan knew but cocain Mitch, the bytch

The Republican head of the Senate knew and chose to let it happen

    Think about that

Lets hope that Trump has another crack at the swamp. Where are a number of corporate entities which need to brought to justice.

When Impeachment managers need to play a fictionalized version of events that is even more dishonest than Bart Simpson telling the court how he was about to be struck down by the luxury car of death it shows there is no “there” there – and they know it.

The level of dishonesty on display in every single of the managers is astonishing even in the light of what one is by now used to hear from Democrat politicians.

Mr. Raskin obviously took lessons from Representative Occasio-Cortes in tearing up.
I cannot express how jarring it is to see any Representative using these manipulative techniques, let alone a man in his late fifties.

    mark311 in reply to felixrigidus. | February 9, 2021 at 7:25 pm

Those videos are of the events so how can they be fiction?

      ConradCA in reply to mark311. | February 9, 2021 at 9:29 pm

How do the videos prove that Trump ordered people to demonstrate in the Capital building?

      txvet2 in reply to mark311. | February 10, 2021 at 1:27 am

      You mean the doctored videos?

      felixrigidus in reply to mark311. | February 10, 2021 at 7:28 am

Mark, you ask how a movie showing events can be fiction?
I don’t know. I guess you could ask Oliver Stone about JFK?

I did not claim the individual video scenes they showed were “fiction”, I said their movie showed a “fictionalized” version of events: they told a fundamentally untrue story. They did so employing accepted conventions of movies and tv serials. Cutting from one place to the other suggests that the events take place more or less simultaneously and are connected.

Let’s do a thought experiment, shall we? Let’s call scenes showing the Capitol building riot A-scenes and the rest B-scenes.

Now, generally speaking, the movie shown is comprised of a series of A and B scenes, sometimes connected with an editorializing slate, where they didn’t trust the viewer to fall for the insinuated story without further prompting.

A-scene (some of the people shown need to wear attire associated with Trump, it is not necessary that they are actually doing anything but be in proximity of the attack, but if its is some clown captured on tape actually doing violence, all the better) followed by
B-scene (Trump says something referencing any item, place, or action that we just saw or will be shown in the following A scene, for example, Trump is shown saying “fighting” in sandwiched between scenes of physical violence.

Now, obviously, you are primed to understand “fighting” as referencing physical violence, although when seen in its proper ocontext it is perfectly obvious that it does nothing of the sort.

      How about an alternative movie?

Where all A-scenes show close-ups of “the action” and the Antifa-style attire of the perps, and all B-scenes show Democrat politicians or a leftist anchor calling for violence or saying something along the lines of “mostly peaceful protest.”

Or another movie of the same events?
A-scenes still as in the first alternative,
B-scenes show peaceful Trump rallies, or Trump supporters being attacked by Antifa or BLM street thugs, and Trump denouncing racism and
C-scenes showing Pelosi’s ice-cream vault, Biden challenging voters to settle differences of opinion through physical “combat,” Obama’s properties.

I’m sure you get the picture.

Tell me again, how the House managers rolled a non-fictionalized version of the events that everybody agrees have taken place?

They are all very sick people
Certainly not the caliber of citizens Washington amd Jefferson had in mind

We have fallen very far down the rabbit hole

Apparently Trumps lawyers are a clown show

He didn’t need this

Just another budding totalitarian regime in the making.

The Progressives have thrown off the masks. They are either so confident, or so terrified of the progressive citizenry, that they simply ignore the rule of law. It means nothing to them and they flout it whenever they want.

The problem with this is that it works both ways. If the masses feel that the rule of law no longer exists, then they too will do whatever they feel is appropriate, legal or not.

We are one step closer to the violence that the Dems claim they abhor.

I honestly think this is going to end with McConnell threatening/forcing/blackmailing enough members in line to get a conviction under the justification of ‘well the trial was unconstitutional but now that we’re here OUR CONSCIENCE DEMANDS we convict’.

McConnell HATES the fact that Trump is still popular. He had it in his mind that Trump was going to be permanently discredited and the voters would flock back to the GOPe and beg for his leadership.

McConnell is stupid, arrogant, and vindictive enough to think that he just needs to Get Rid Of Trump and everything will be sugar and rainbows for him and his RINO cronies.

Dead souls abound in the Senate. Mittens, Sasse, Toomey Murkowski, Collins. All now complicit with the soul-rotting Democrat pastime of abortion.
Pro-death souls can’t explain the natural law or ontological values. God forbids it.
You have to know yourself to think for yourself and you have to know God to know yourself!

Watching this on tv, I felt like I was watching a “B” movie or a community theatre production. Not one of the five who presented today were very compelling in trying to sell their case to the senate or the public.
So much of lawyering is salesmanship, I wasn’t buying much of what they were trying to sell. maybe somenody will step it up over the next few days but I highly doubt it.
Quoting people that over 99% of people have never heard of, trying to use examples from England makes no sense.

When Republicans take over the House they can impeach Obama, Biden and Hillary for the crimes the committed while in office. Hillary for selling the favors of her office and mishandling classified info. Obama, Biden and Hillary for attempting to frame Trump with the Russian collusion lie.

Are they paid actors?

Watched before it is deleted. They keep deleting them.
