The Senate kicks off President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial today at 1 p.m. ET.
The House impeachment managers and Trump’s lawyers will each have two hours to debate the constitutionality of the trial.
The Senate will then vote if they should move forward. They only need a simple majority.

No question the Dimocratic Communists will vote as a block to move this persecution, I mean trial, forward…… and mental midgets like Mittens, Collins and Murkowski will probably tag along.
They already held a vote on whether the impeachment was constitutional, didn’t they? It went 55-45. I’d be shocked if any of those votes changed after hearing two hours of speechifying. (Sasse and Toomey joined the three you named.)
Since this impeachment and trial is supposed be about conviction and removal from office the president, I think the Republicans should call a vote to clarify who the president is and who is removed from office in the event of conviction at trial.
It is just as plausible to convict Trump and remove Biden from office as it is that Trump can be tried or convicted.
I mean, they can spend all the time yacking about Trump they want, but the vote to convict is a vote to convict and remove the president, and last I heard, the Democrats think that is Joe Biden. . . . or do they?

I do not understand what the Dems expect to accomplish with this impeachment farce. This is only stirring the coals and pouring gasoline on them. Every time they suggest that there was not planned, well financed and coordinated election fraud, I just get more and more angry. Where does all this take us?

I can tell you exactly what they expect to accomplish. 1. They are trying to establish a precedent to remove future Presidents for any reason they care to fabricate. 2. They want to take away the traditional courtesies and benefits that he has as a former President. They want to take away his Federal Pension and the protection of his Secret Service Detail.
The Founding Fathers organized, their genius was needed people with morality run the country. Today, that is woefully lacking. They were about freedom and lack of central control. Today’s Dems/Progs are nearly opposite. The Democrat party is all about control, everything all the time. They know how to live your life better than you.
I am afraid that it takes us to much more serious conflict. Increasingly, it looks like this may be necessary.
What we have, are people who lack capability insisting that they are entitled to things they cannot or will not earn.
They expect to get a few soundbytes that the media will play breathlessly every time they discuss Trump for the next 4 years.
CNN, MSNBC and the rest are advertising it as “The Second Impeachment of Donald Trump”. All the aforementioned outlets have that as the description on our local channel guide. Nothing but theater, with hopes of forcing some mental midget into doing something they can bash all of us with.
Trump’s lawyers can make fools of the Democrats on this. The fire extinguisher is actually named as the murder weapon in the impeachment charges.
I know there’s a lot of other points the lawyers can make for Trump, but this is the one that sums up the Democrats’ willingness to lie about anything.

While dragging in the family would appear inappropriate, they agreed for his body to lie in repose in the Rotunda. THAT makes this a national issue. When Impeachment managers need to play a fictionalized version of events that is even more dishonest than Bart Simpson telling the court how he was about to be struck down by the luxury car of death it shows there is no “there” there – and they know it.
The level of dishonesty on display in every single of the managers is astonishing even in the light of what one is by now used to hear from Democrat politicians.

I did not claim the individual video scenes they showed were “fiction”, I said their movie showed a “fictionalized” version of events: they told a fundamentally untrue story. They did so employing accepted conventions of movies and tv serials. Cutting from one place to the other suggests that the events take place more or less simultaneously and are connected.
Let’s do a thought experiment, shall we? Let’s call scenes showing the Capitol building riot A-scenes and the rest B-scenes.
Now, generally speaking, the movie shown is comprised of a series of A and B scenes, sometimes connected with an editorializing slate, where they didn’t trust the viewer to fall for the insinuated story without further prompting.
A-scene (some of the people shown need to wear attire associated with Trump, it is not necessary that they are actually doing anything but be in proximity of the attack, but if its is some clown captured on tape actually doing violence, all the better) followed by
B-scene (Trump says something referencing any item, place, or action that we just saw or will be shown in the following A scene, for example, Trump is shown saying “fighting” in sandwiched between scenes of physical violence.
Now, obviously, you are primed to understand “fighting” as referencing physical violence, although when seen in its proper ocontext it is perfectly obvious that it does nothing of the sort.
How about an alternative movie?
Where all A-scenes show close-ups of “the action” and the Antifa-style attire of the perps, and all B-scenes show Democrat politicians or a leftist anchor calling for violence or saying something along the lines of “mostly peaceful protest.”
Or another movie of the same events?
A-scenes still as in the first alternative,
B-scenes show peaceful Trump rallies, or Trump supporters being attacked by Antifa or BLM street thugs, and Trump denouncing racism and
C-scenes showing Pelosi’s ice-cream vault, Biden challenging voters to settle differences of opinion through physical “combat,” Obama’s properties.
I’m sure you get the picture.
Tell me again, how the House managers rolled a non-fictionalized version of the events that everybody agrees have taken place?

Watching this on tv, I felt like I was watching a “B” movie or a community theatre production. Not one of the five who presented today were very compelling in trying to sell their case to the senate or the public.
So much of lawyering is salesmanship, I wasn’t buying much of what they were trying to sell. maybe somenody will step it up over the next few days but I highly doubt it.
