Here we go again with the race for New York’s 22nd Congressional District!
Incumbent Democrat Rep. Anthony Brindisi’s campaign wants to count 60 rejected ballots. Republican Claudia Tenney wants to count seven ballots.
Guess who has to give approval? New York State Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte.
The same judge that put everyone back at the beginning when he decided last week not to certify the results and ordered officials in the eight counties to recanvass.
Tenney still leads by 12 votes. From WICZ:
Madison, Herkimer, and Oswego counties reviewed their challenged ballots on Monday, giving both campaigns an opportunity to raise any more objections. Broome and Tioga counties reviewed their challenged ballots on Tuesday. Oneida, Chenango, and Cortland counties are scheduled to review their ballots on Wednesday. Oneida County is expected to continue reviewing ballots on Thursday and Friday as well. It was in Oneida that the judge says 400 affidavit ballots were not properly canvassed.
DelConte will look at challenged ballots early next week so we likely won’t have a result before Christmas.
Remember, DelConte said in his decision that he cannot declare a winner in the race. He can only review and approve the ballots.
Let’s hope none of these counties lost any Post-Its.
