Harvard Researcher Blames Right Wing Media for Creating Narrative of Left-Wing Riots

“What has been a minor storyline among left-wing audiences has been dramatically overemphasized by right-wing media because these protests provided plenty of visceral content for online content creators.”

It’s not the rioting by Black Lives Matter and Antifa that’s a problem, according to this person. It’s the fact that right wing media is covering it. Do you follow that logic?

The College Fix reports:

Harvard research director: Right-wing is using video to create narrative of ‘lawless rioting’

The research director at Harvard Kennedy’s Shorenstein Center claims “right-wing agitators” are responsible for creating the perception that Black Lives Matter and Antifa demonstrators have been engaged in destructive riots.

Writing in the MIT Technology Review, Joan Donovan says rightist “media makers” who have recorded videos of “altercations” at protests in various cities have used them to “mobilize white militia and vigilante groups to take up arms” against the left-wing rioters.

Kyle Rittenhouse, the young man who shot and killed two rioters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is an example of this phenomenon the scholar of social movements and media studies claims.

Donovan, who declares George Floyd’s death was just one in a “seemingly endless line of merciless and vicious events perpetrated by police against Black people,” says conservative media have covered in a “new way” the daily BLM/Antifa protests: “flipping the script to suggest that Black protesters—demonstrating because they fear police violence—are themselves a threat to white people.”

She continues:

[R]ight-wing media outlets wrote five to six times more articles about Seattle’s “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” than did center or left media. What has been a minor storyline among left-wing audiences has been dramatically overemphasized by right-wing media because these protests provided plenty of visceral content for online content creators.

Donovan alleges the work of these “online content creators,” such as Andy Ngo, is “edited [and] decontextualized” and then fed to conservative audiences as so-called “riot porn.” Individuals like the McCloskey couple from St. Louis for example, who were recorded brandishing guns in front of their house at BLM marchers, become heroes to the Right.

Remember when Harvard was an elite institution? and a place of education? No more.

I picture a time when, instead of foreign students coming here to attend university, our serious students will be attending college in Paris, Milan, Rome, London, Hyderabad (sp?), Lahore, Bangkok, and Sydney.

Do you follow that logic?

Yes.

To this Marxist, the riots aren’t a problem.

There was no looting, no burning, no mayhem. Andy Ngo et al are right wing, flame throwing propagandists and I am a kangaroo.

Very similar to the South Park episode where the priests all agreed it was the kids telling their parents that was the problem.

This person was actually hired by Harvard?? Must be another B.S. Phd. in “gender studies or kangaroo mating calls.” I do agree that right wing media such as WAPO, the NYT and L.A. Times have carried water for Andy Ngo’s photoshopped videos. They are on the front pages consistently.

They’re projecting again.
